---------------------------------------------------------

We all have daily worries, but should bone health be one of those worries? I think not. As moms, women, wives, sisters, etc.. we have enough to worry about.

Osteoporosis is a big deal. A VERY big deal.

“The NOF, the leading consumer and community-focused health organization dedicated to the prevention of osteoporosis and broken bones, says that a woman’s risk of breaking a hip is equal to her combined risk of these three devastating female diseases.” Which are Breast, Uterine, and Ovarian Cancer. (From the FemBody Website)

The risk factors for osteoporosis are very well known. Being a female that has gone through menopause and is small framed. Although you can’t control THESE risk factors, there are still steps you can take to reduce your risk.

Exercising as much as you can and taking Vitamin D and Calcium pills. As well as drinking and eating foods with Calcium and Vitamin D in them are some of the steps.

I really liked that it not only preserves and protects your bones, but it also offers 2% in bone material density and 300-400% increase to grow and produce new bone.

I have never seen another product like this before. Not one that can preserve, protect, and help the growth of new bone material.

Osteoporosis runs in my mom’s side of the family. My maternal grandmother had this, and I am pretty sure that I am a good candidate for it. When I am at the age of menopause, I will have all 3 of the risks. I will be female (of course) at the age of (after) menopause) and thin framed.

I want to do everything I can to promote my bone health while I can. I don’t want to have to worry years down the road if I drank enough milk or ate food with enough vitamins to get the protection I need. I don’t want to worry about falling and breaking something.

I used this as instructed on the bottle. 3 tablets daily. 1 tablet in the morning, and 2 in the evening (with food). Although you can’t tell whether your bones are healing (obviously) I did feel much better and stronger when taking the Bone Activator.

I feel that they are being true to their word. I researched the ingredients, and obviously they have what is needed to preserve bone material as well as help with the growth of it.

They are slightly large pills, but they aren’t hard to swallow with water. They also don’t have a strong taste or smell like most vitamins out there. These are all pluses in my book. I hate vitamins that smell like horse hay and get hooked in my throat (gag).

I would recommend these to you. I feel like I am doing good by taking them. I feel way better than I did when I wasn’t. I feel more whole and stronger. I feel like I have more energy and overall in better health.

You can buy them for 39.99 at the Fembody Website here

Obol Review & Giveaway- No More Soggy Cereal

I first heard of Obol on a couple of blogs that I frequently read. Have you heard or seen of this bowl before? I thought the design and invention was amazing.

This bowl is for keeping foods from touching the liquids, so you aren’t eating soggy food. This bowl will keep your food crunchy until the very last bite. It uses a scoop and swoop design to help with the sogginess. You scoop your cereal from the top and swoop it down into the milk.
Although you mostly see people eating cereal in it, it can be used for WAY more that that.

You can use it for
*Cookies and Milk
*Chips and Salsa
*Ice Cream and Cake
*Ice Cream and Berries
*Soup and Crackers… and more
My Review
I love the Obol for it’s soggy free design. I HATE soggy cereal. I would always have to rush and eat it. I love reading while I eat, I always have. I wasn’t able to read and eat cereal before the obol. I had to eat it all up before it became gross and got tossed in the trash.

Adam is always telling me that I muti-task too much. I am guilty of this. I watch tv and read at the same time. I read and eat at the same time. I eat and watch tv. I blog and eat. The obol makes life easier while multi tasking. You aren’t having to focus on just ONE thing, because the Obol’s easy to hold handle keeps it from slipping from your hands. While letting you hold it closer to your body.

When the bowl came, I was surprised at how big it was. I didn’t expect it to be bigger than a regular bowl, but it’s twice the size. As you can see in the picture above, her hand doesn’t even wrap half way across the bowl.

Adisyn and Aidan loved the bowl. They thought it was cool. They ended up using it for carrots and ranch, chips and salsa, and cookies and milk. If you’re a mom or an aunt, grandma, or have friends with kid’s then you know how they hate their food touching. My kids aren’t to that age yet, but I will definitely be prepared when it comes time. This bowl is awesome.
Every time Adam grabs a bowl of cereal, he reaches for the obol. He likes how big it is, and fact that he can put his cereal and fruit in one part and milk in the other. He hates eating soggy fruit, but loves fruit in his cereal. I’m glad he liked it as much as the kid’s did.

Plus it comes in some awesome color choices.
Brookstone.  sells this bowl in some amazing bright colors – red, orange, blue, green, and then the standard white.

You can buy the bowl here for $20. Or you can WIN it. Obol is partnering with Me to let one lucky Made.By.Jess reader win their very own Obol.

Soldiers Tale Review and Giveaway

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Recently I was selected to do a review on "The Soldier's Tale" by Maestro Classics. Maestro Classics is the  winner of 50 prestigious awards for its "Stories In Music", CD series. It is dedicated to creating recordings that offer memorable listening experiences for the whole family -- albums where uncompromisingly great performances are woven into enchanting narratives, supplemented by expanded commentary and activities in beautifully illustrated, 24-page program booklets. Maestro Classics proudly announces the December 6 release of the company’s ninth CD, a sparkling rendition of Stravinsky’s masterpiece for narrator and chamber ensemble, L’Histoire du Soldat, retold for today’s young audiences as The Soldier’s Tale (Maestro Classics, $16.98, for ages 8+ and families, run time 55 minutes).

I received my CD, unwrapped it, and popped it into the computer. The kids and I gathered around in a little circle. We listened intensely. It is a great story with an even greater lesson.

The story opens with a soldier named Joseph stopping to rest by the roadside as he walks home to his village. Joseph has just taken out his violin and begun to play when an old man appears, offering to trade a mysterious book that can reveal the future in exchange for the violin. When the old man, who is really the Devil in disguise, convinces Joseph that the powers of the book can be used to gain great wealth, the soldier agrees, and the inexorable wheels of this Faustian morality play begin to turn. Joseph eventually recognizes that he has lost his family and friends, and that money does not bring happiness.

With eminent conductor Stephen Simon directing members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and narration by Yadu (a.k.a. Dr. Konrad Czynski), The Soldier’s Tale is much more than your typical “classical music for kids” CD.  Stephen Simon presents valuable information that enhances the meaning of the music. Stravinsky’s music is so accessible that it really isn’t necessary to know anything about the way it was composed in order to enjoy and appreciate its very unique sound.  However, with a little background from the Maestro, young listeners can learn a great deal about how this music connects to history and culture. Even though Stravinsky was still a young man when he composed L’Histoire du Soldat, he had traveled widely, spending time in most of the cultural capitals of Europe and Russia, and had already composed music that was world famous.  Maestro Simon not only paints a portrait of Stravinsky and his times, he also expands upon exactly what was in Stravinsky’s music that created so much discussion and is still so relevant to what we hear in concert halls today.
We were memorized by the intensity of this store. I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old. They both LOVED it. My 5 year old would get up and dance around the room every time the music would play, and  when the narrator starting reading again, he sat back down.  When it was over, he asked to listen to it again. He also LOVED "The Amazing Baz Dance Remix". I think it is a great story and it gets kids out of the norm. They get to hear it, and are introduced to classical music all at the same time. This is definitely something I feel good about letting my kids listen to.

Maestro Classics recordings are available at maestroclassics.com, amazon.com, and other major distributors and retailers.  In addition to The Soldier’s Tale, the Stories in Music series includes My Name is Handel: The Story of Handel’s “Water Music,” Peter and the Wolf, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Story of Swan Lake, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, Casey at the Bat, and Juanita the Spanish Lobster (also available in Spanish).

Craftsy Block Of The Month

Craftsy Block Of The Month

The Craftsy Block of the Month is a completely free, year-long online class instructed by expert quilter, Amy Gibson. There are 12 installments, each one posted on the first day of every month. The first 10 months/installments teach our students two new exciting blocks (brand new designs or funky spins on traditional blocks). The last two months are dedicated to finishing the quilt. At the end of the class, our students will have full-size and one-of-a-kind quilts. Like all of our classes, students can view it whenever it’s convenient for them, and can watch them however many times they’d like. It’s filmed in high-definition, and it’s fully interactive---students can ask Amy questions as they go.
