My Participation for Pink Moss {In My Daughter’s Eyes}

I came across this on BlogFrog..

The author of Pink Moss, Janae writes “

O.K.

Thoughts have been swooshing through my head as I try and figure out exactly how I want my project to work. I decided to have the paragraphs written in the form of a letter to yourself as a twelve year old girl. I want you to think about the advice you would have given yourself to find happiness and real beauty. Go ahead and warn yourselves of the possible pitfalls that may have helped you. I want these letters to be an uplifting, real, and I'm sure they will sometimes be funny or emotional. They will be as different as the women who write them, so don't worry if you are doing it "wrong". There isn't a wrong!

So here are the directions:

1. Write a letter to yourself that you wish you could have read when you were 12 years old. Give yourself advice on how to feel happy and beautiful as you start going through the normal changes we all go through in adolescents, teenage years, marriage, mothering into grand mothering..or never having children of your own. Whatever the case may be.

2. Get a portrait picture of yourself OR with your kids/family/mother....whatever.

I may turn these all black and white, I am not sure yet.

3. Go to the tab on top of my blog labeled "Send me a Note" to send me your letter and picture. Include your email address so we can stay in touch with updates on the new website. Add a link to your blog for me to share so you get credit for being YOU.

4. Post the letter on your blog (if you have one), and link it back to my site. You can use my "Pink Moss" button on my right side bar or just link it to THIS asking other women to participate. I have a "In my daughter's Eyes Project" picture on the right hand side of my blog that will also link people to the information.

I am so excited about the response already, I can hardly stand it! I was worried at first that nobody would be interested, but I can see now after not even a full 24 hours that this is something people need and want to read about. THANK YOU for helping me make women feel just a little bit better about themselves, one letter at a time!”

I am participating & will post the results on here after I have it finished..

you should participate..click {here}

You are also more than welcome to post the results here on my blog {don’t forget to post on pink-moss) so she can include you..

Diaper Clutch {Tutorial}

Vanilla Joy has a great tutorial for a diaper clutch that you can access {here}..

Supplies

  • 1/3 yard each of 2 coordinating fabrics (if either of the prints is directional, you’ll need 5/8 and you’ll have tons of fabric left over. Non-directional fabric is best for this project.)
  • 1″ wide velcro

Free crochet heart pattern..

    clip_image001

    I was searching the internet for crochet patterns & found this..

    Pattern for Crocheted Heart uploaded via flickr by Made By BeaG..

    From The website->

    “You’ll need:

    - yarn (any yarn will do, in this example I used a 100% acrylic yarn)

    - crochet hook (size that matches your yarn)

    - a little stuffing material

    Stitches:

    Ch = US chain stitch (Dutch: losse)

    SC = US single crochet (UK: double crochet, Dutch: vaste)

    Heart (make two):

    SC in rows. Always make a Ch to turn (not mentioned in the pattern).

    - 1 Ch, turn (yes, that means 2 Ch)

    - 2 SC in first stitch, 1 SC, (= 3 stitches), turn

    - 2 SC in first stitch, 2 SC (= 4 stitches), turn

    - 2 SC in first stitch, 3 SC (= 5 stitches), turn

    continue SC in rows (increase 1 SC in the first stitch of every row) untill you have 20 stitches, turn

    first round part of the heart:

    - 10 SC, turn

    - SC, crochet the first two stitches (1,2) and the last two stitches (9,10) together (= 8 stitches)

    - SC, crochet the first two stitches (1,2) and the last two stitches (7,8) together (= 6 stitches)

    - SC, crochet the first two stitches (1,2) and the last two stitches (5,6) together (= 4 stitches)

    - SC, crochet the first two stitches (1,2) and the last two stitches (3,4) together (= 2 stitches)

    fasten off

    second round part of the heart:

    - re-attach in the 11th stitch of the 20 stitches row (right next to the first round part)

    - 10 SC, turn

    - continue like first round part

    - weave in all ends

    Crochet both hearts together in SC. Leave a small opening in one of the straight sides.

    Lightly stuff the heart. Close the opening by crocheting more SC.

    Weave in ends.

    Have fun!

    PS: feel free to use this pattern any way you like.

    Commercial use is fine with me too, as long as you don't present it as your own design.”

    Pasted from <here>

    so have fun..

    & share your projects with me & BeaG

All About the Egg.

Yes. You heard right. Egg. As in humpty dumpty..

The egg is an amazing ingredient & I would love to tell you all about it D

The egg is an amazing & magic ingredient. It helps to form some of the most perfect and delicious recipes. Have you ever noticed that you can whip up just about anything as long as you have an egg? The egg is actually the artist behind it all.

Once you have mastered the techniques to making an egg, you’ll find it to be easy as well as fun. The egg to a cook is like a paintbrush to an artist, both create masterpieces. The egg allows beautifulness and texture into the recipe.

Whichever technique you are using the success key is time & temperature. Eggs should be cooked slowly on low to medium heat until the white sets. If cooking an omelet (which require a higher temp) it should only be for a short time.

Overheating can result in tough, liquid, or rubbery eggs..eww =(

So-refrain from disappointing results by skipping the high heat, which separate the protein and liquid.

With eggs, you don’t have to get all gadget happy. Gadgets such as poachers are nice to have but not necessary to gain the technique that’s called for in the recipe. You can almost always get by without them. There are substitutes you can use to gain the same effect. Eggs are simple, don’t think about it too much and eventually it will be as natural as breathing.

The egg is so much more than hard boiled eggs on Easter. It’s a “can’t do without” ingredient that create many recipes and make beautiful masterpieces possible.

There are two parts to an egg. The white & the yolk. The yolk is the fat & the flavor, as well as body. The white is 2/3 liquid & tons of protein.

Egg whites are whipped because they expand in volume. The yolk (fat) is removed because it keeps the white from foaming.

Knowing how to separate an egg (Isolating the white & yolk from each other) is a must know. When a fresh egg is cracked it will reveal a plump yolk & thick white. The same egg weeks later will reveal to be thin as water…

(More on eggs later…) A Jessi
