Motivate Your Kids to Read with BookBoard

I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. Even when I was in first grade, I remember that I loved the excitement of opening a book and starting a new adventure. When I got into fourth grade, I was 2nd place in my entire school for reading level and reading the most books. My love for reading still continues. I bet I read more than 4-5 books a week. The Library..
We were always going to library on a weekly basis. My kids enjoy choosing their books, reading them with me, and returning them for more. Now, we don’t have to wait for our weekly trip to the library with so many different books at our fingertips!

I love once we signed up, I could create each of my kids their very own ID, with their nicknames and cute little icons beside their names to represent them. For each book they complete on Bookboards they unlock more books and earn personal achievements! That’s even more exciting than a sticker system!

I love that there is such a wide variety of books. Of course, boys and girls will like SOME similar books, but they also differ. It is more than likely that my son will love to read something with dinosaurs, airplanes, or cars, while my daughter would pick something like the Bernstein bears, Dora, or fairies.

Owning every single book that your child is interested in isn’t possible. That’s the reason we were always lending from the library even when they were very young. We did accidentally misplace one book, and another got juice on it from a spilled drink inside a backpack. Kid Book Review: David Carter's 100: Lift the Flaps and Learn to Count! [Board Book]; Sterling Children’s Books

My Review

My kids LOVE flap books. It’s exciting to them to be able to raise it up and discover what’s hidden underneath the flap. The David Carter’s 100 is something totally unique than the traditional “flap books” though because it has many, many flaps- 100!

This book is recommended for kids ages 3-7, which both my kids fall under. Aidan, who is 6 can already count into his 40’s but kind- of steers off from there. Adisyn, who is 4 loses track after 14.

After getting this book, they’ve both gained a little on their counting experience. The book engages them because every two pages changes scenery. One two=page layout may contain “at the bakery” where they lift up the flaps to count cookies, candies, and cakes. The next two pages will be “farm animals” where they count cows, horses, and sheep.

It’s entertaining for them because it’s colorful and keeps them on their toes. It isn’t “boring” for them because it changes up. I loved how cleverly he built the flaps to lift this way and that- but yet all are hidden from the kids until they reveal the next flap! I’ve never seen that many flaps stacked on each other without becoming bulky- yet they aren’t in the least!

There are 5 consecutive numbers on each page and when they lift the last “flap” on the page it says “Great, now you’ve counted to 5, now 10 on the next, and so on. It take it little by little and gives them the “excitement” they need to keep on reading!

This is a must for any any young kid wanting to learn how to count. I was definitely thinking about buying Aidan’s teacher one to go in her class for next year as a “present” for her new students.
