Maternity Review: ELM Baby Maternity Fashion Jeans

image

If you’ve ever been pregnant before, then you must know how hard it is to find cute maternity clothes. When I was pregnant with my son, I basically ONLY wore stretchy pants because I COULD NOT find any that would suit my style or my size.

I am always on the lookout for jeans, because I’m not really into “maternity dresses.” I DO like them, but I’d rather wear jeans until I am busting at the seams with my belly.

When I was contacted by ELM Baby, I was thrilled! I hadn’t heard of them before I was contacted, and I had so much fun looking through their site.

image

They really do cater to EVERYTHING pregnancy and baby! Maternity clothing in a variety of styles (kudos), baby clothing, AND baby items such as bathing, co-sleeping, teething, accessories of all kinds! They even carry skincare for both the face and body!

image

The cutest diaper bags ever, nursing pillows, car seats, baby carriers.. I could go on and on. I loved that you can search by who you are; Mom’s Corner, Dad’s Corner, and they even have a place for grandparents- how cool is that? You can even have your baby shower registry through them!

image

BACK to the jeans though. These are Lilac Maternity Signature Denim jeans that come in small, medium, and large. They are a dark wash jean, which I LOVE! They are stretchy, so they will definitely grow with your budding belly!

WP_002946

They look like any regular pair of jeans, other than the belly flap is hidden under your shirt. They LOOK like they button up, but you just slide them on like stretch pants.

Even though they are a little big right now, they’d fit perfectly in about another month. I’m sure that these would fit until about the 5th month for me. I don’t tend to get very big until the end of the 5th month for some reason.

I love that they haven’t faded AT all through the many washes they’ve endured. Still feel so comfortable and maintain the same crisp, new look that they have when you get them!

WP_002951

I also love that the back pockets are a little bigger. Adam always tells me that tiny pockets look like I’m wearing little kid clothes. I don’t know why, but I guess it has something to do with enhancing the booty. Open-mouthed smile LOL

imageimage

I was very happy to see the line of maternity swimsuits they have. They don’t say “huh, I’m pregnant”. They say “look at me, I am pregnant and beautiful”. Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t look beautiful and that’s JUST what ELM Baby is all about!

Save a Biker’s Life & Help me Remember Mine! <Life Story Inside.. please Read!

My dad loved riding his motorcycle. I can remember numerous occasions seeing him on it.

daddy

There were so many things I wish could’ve happened that didn’t. There were many times when I was growing up that I wished he were there and he wasn’t.

Do you know WHY he wasn’t there? He was killed in a motorcycle accident when I was only 7 years old. My dad was only 31.. way too young.

He left behind not only me, but my mom and 4 year old sister as well. A car was on his side of the road and he swerved to miss it and hit a tree.

I am 24 now, and have lived without my dad it seems like an eternity now. 17 years to be exact, although there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him, or wish he were here to meet my kids.

My mom, who had always been a stay at home mom became a widow when my dad died. She had absolutely no work experience whatsoever. She had been with my dad since she was 13 years old, and he had always provided for her.

After he died, she didn’t know what to do. Not only was she facing the grief of losing someone she had been with since she was a teenager but she was left with a funeral bill and a small income as well.

My mom struggled and struggled just to meet the bills that we had to pay, and could only pay a little here and there on the funeral bill. AND that’s why 17 years later and he STILL doesn’t have a headstone.

My infant niece was born early at 25 weeks on July 1, 2013. We ended up burying her the 7th. At the grave site, I kept staring at my dad’s resting place and getting teary-eyed as the memorial service was going on.

I kept thinking “THIS long and still nothing?” No way to tell that he is lying underneath that grass? I kept wondering how many people had accidentally stepped on his grave that day while digging the grave for my niece or saying their goodbyes?

It was unthinkable for me. SO, I set out to do something about it.

Thanks to TeeSpring, I’ve designed a T-shirt for those who know bikers and wish to save a life. In exchange for an awesome T-shirt designed by me—I get the profit from the shirts to pay towards a headstone for the man I call my daddy.

motorcycle-frontmotorcycle-back

The top picture is the front of the shirt and the bottom is the back. There are TONS of accidents that happen each day because cars, trucks, and SUV’s don’t see bikers on the road.

If you would like to help me spread awareness and have people watch out for bikers while helping me raise money towards an amazing goal I would VERY much appreciate it!

I have been trying my VERY best to get the word out about these shirts but so far only 2 out of 50 have been reserved.

ALL 50 have to be gone within 2 weeks and 4 days or NOBODY gets their shirts.

Please help me by buying one of these shirts. Only $20! Save a Biker today and help me get a memorial stone for mine (my daddy) http://teespring.com/SaveABiker

If you buy one.. please leave your name below (will be verified) and I will put your name (beside a number) into a random generator for a special prize at the end of next month!

Thank you SO much, (In advance)

Beauty Review: Jabu’She Skincare; Facial Tonic

image

Jabu’she is a skin care line from Sweden that’s designed for anyone who wants to improve the look and feel of aging or sun-damaged skin. Jabu’she also gives the skin a finer luster, increased vitality, and fewer visible pores.

image

I was excited to get to be able to work with them on a review, because they have AWARD winning anti-aging skincare that also reverses signs of sun exposure. I got to choose 3 items from the site, which was hard. They have a very clean, simple website that is easy to navigate.. and amazing products that are designed just as beautifully.

clip_image001

The first item I chose was the Jabu’she Cleansing Lotion. I love this cleansing lotion and have added this to my daily skin care regimen as the main cleaner for the last month.

WP_002894

This is a very gentle cleansing lotion that doesn’t strip the skin of it’s natural oils. I have oily skin, but this still works very well for me. I use twice on a daily basis and then add in a face scrub 2 days of the week and a mask on another.

I love the scent, it smells so clean and fresh- reminds me of freshly bloomed flowers! Open-mouthed smile I love the way my skin feels after I wash with this cleansing lotion.

WP_002901

As you can tell it doesn’t get sudsy. The suds can actually strip the skin of ALL oils, even the ones your skin needs to remain healthy and not dry out. My skin feels so soft, smooth, and refreshed after using this.

WP_002900

It is just so invigorating! It feels so amazing because it is actually BUILT like a lotion. It calms and heals stressed out skin while also cleaning it. I can’t tell you how AMAZING this is at cleaning off makeup without any left behind.

it’s also great at removing mineral eyeshadow and mascara, which usually takes an eye makeup remover to get off. I only had a slight raccoon look after, which came off with a slight swipe of a towel after washing!

This balances the skin tone and texture overtime, while also firming and refreshing it! Couldn’t ask for anything more from a face cleaner! I LOVE that my skin stays moisturized, yet it isn’t oily!

WP_002884

The ingredients contain cucumber extract which is what helps to naturally moisturize and balance the skin. Peach extract helps to smooth, lift, and refresh the skin. AND chamomile heals and calms.

Buy it: Jabu’she Cleansing Lotion $29.95

The second items I chose was the Jabu’she Facial Tonic. This is different from most toners on the market today because it doesn’t contain alcohol. Most people don’t know but the alcohol in toners can actually dry skin out and make them start to peel overtime.

WP_002904

I love that this has a pump action top. Usually toners come with a screw on or pop off lid, where you have to use a cotton pad or ball with it. I love this way SO much better.

It not only saves time, but I am not wasting more than I use. It’s a win/win situation. I love this facial tonic. I’ve noticed my skin feels a lot more rejuvenated and balanced since using it.

Like I said before, I have oily skin. More now since I’ve been tanning on a regular basis. It seems to bring the oil to the top even more, so I was glad that this has balanced the oiliness.

I’ve noticed it numbs a little at first. I accidentally sprayed it on my lips and they went numb. So after that I made it a point to wipe my lips with a towel immediately after spraying my face with this tonic.

It has the same calming and moisturizing ingredients that the cleansing lotion has in it. It has Cucumber extract to balance and moisturize, Peach extract to smooth, lift, and refresh, and Chamomile to heal and calm.

My face just feels SO clean after! I love it!

Buy It: Jabu’she Facial Tonic $31.95

WP_002897

The third I chose was the Repairing Overnight Moisture Mask. I love it because it’s an anti-aging mask that helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles overtime.

It is so moisturizing and rehydrates dried out skin. If your skin is in desperate need of moisture, this is what you need. It smells so amazing, goes on so smoothly, and you only NEED leave it on for 15 minutes but best if left overnight!

WP_002906

The overnight mask is a light blue/green in color and smells like a mixture of cucumbers and peaches to me. So invigorating and uplifting!

I’ve been using it overnight, and in the morning my skin looks so replenished. It feels so stimulated and restored of all the moisture it loses at night.

Buy It: Jabu’She Repairing Overnight Moisture Mask. $39.95

I am amazed at just how light all of these are on my skin (even the moisture mask). My pores have seemed to have shrank a couple sizes (which is AMAZING for someone with large pores).

Keep your eyes peeled for the GIVEAWAY which will feature the same items!

Book Review: Conspiracies: The Facts - The Theories - The Evidence by Andy Thomas; Watkins Publishing Limited

Here is an opportunity to sift through some of the intriguing, baffling, sometimes gruesome and often shocking possibilities presented by conspiracies. It goes to some shadowy places at times, but it is worth the journey...

At any time in our history, you will find significant and seemingly indisputable events occurring, the kind that can change the course of our lives. Yet for every one of them, somebody, somewhere will loudly dispute the ‘official’ account, doubting that the truth has been told. In today’s environment, with trust in authorities at an all-time low, conspiracy theories have found a new currency, and websites and social networking ensure they receive a wider and more rapid spread than ever before. But how do we separate truth from imagination? Was Princess Diana murdered, as many people think, despite all the official denials? Did NASA really go to the Moon, when anomalies in the photographic record suggest otherwise? Could 9/11 really have been set up by agencies within the USA itself?

My Review

I’ve always been fascinated by conspiracy theories. So when I got a chance to review this book from Netgalley, I was excited. I’ve always thought that our government really does hide a lot of stuff from us that we should definitely know about. WHY do I think this? Think about everything that was covered up just in Watergate..

What exactly IS a conspiracy theory? According to the Collins English Dictionary it is “The belief that the government or a covert organisation is responsible for an event that is unusual or unexplained, especially when any such involvement is denied”

Just as Andy says in the book “Pick a century, any century. Or a decade, a year, a month. In each you will find significant and seemingly indisputable events occurring, the kind that can change the course of human history. Yet for every one of them, somebody, somewhere, will loudly dispute the “official” account, doubting that the truth has been told.”

I’m not going to sit here and say that I think every MOMENT in history has a conspiracy that I believe. I do, however, believe that most Americans want to know the truth and I don’t think the United States government is or was providing the truth to us all.

I think they have a lot to hide, and a lot to gain by hiding it. Why would they want us to know that they screwed up or something that was devastating to Americans could have been prevented and was overlooked. I think they try and cover their hides and they will do anything to do so- mostly, to COVER themselves.

I do take conspiracy theorists seriously. I think these are the people that we should definitely take note of and listen to. These are the people who care enough about the country, the truth, and the cover-ups to do the research and explain all the lies.

This book uncovers the deception and cover-ups. This book isn’t crammed full of conspiracy theories. He chooses the conspiracies in which the public are most fascinated, leaving the climate and religion conspiracies for another time.

From the very beginning of this book I was intrigued, drawn in, and unable to stop reading. This book starts out with telling what a conspiracy is, as well as conspiracy theorists in the eyes of both conspiracy theorists and those who don’t believe in conspiracies.

The conspiracies themselves start out with the conspiracy of “The Beatles” which I had never heard of before reading this book. The conspiracy was that Paul McCartney had actually died in a car accident in 1966.

The conspiracy was built around certain lyrics and pictures of Album covers as well as looking closely at before 1966/after 1966 pictures of McCartney. There were certain lyrics that pointed towards McCartney’s death. “He blew his mind out in a car” in 1967’s “A Day in the Life.” As well as in 1968’s “Don’t Pass Me By” saying “You were in a car crash, and you lost your hair.”

Many Americans believed that he did die and that someone else (a look alike) took his place so that the band didn’t hit rock bottom during their best years. Americans wanted to believe he died so that he could forever be looked at in a “the good die young” way.

The author isn’t just stating what the conspiracies say though, which is what makes it interesting. He digs into the “facts” of the conspiracy to see whether they make any sense and can be proven or not.

There are facts that show that actual evidence does indeed exist to support some of the conspiracies that have been created over the years.

If you love learning about history, this book is definitely for you. Even if you don’t believe in conspiracy theories.. this is a great book. You never know, this book may actually just change your mind.

He states the facts, and they are so interesting. I love learning about what may or might not have happened. I don’t think that history books are that RIGHT on detail, and I do think the government would hide stuff from us to their benefit.

Some of the conspiracies include:

Shakespearean conspiracy

The Gunpowder Plot

Sinking of RMS Lusitania

Pearl Harbor

Watergate

The Moon Landings

Weapons of Mass Destruction & Iraq

Phone Hacking

John F. Kennedy Murder Conspiracy

Princess Diana Murder

Most of these were new to me. I’d heard of most of them- but hadn’t dug deeper into what the conspiracies actually were built around and if there was real evidence to support them.

This book will totally surprise you and drag you into the depth’s of history! Do you believe in conspiracies? What’s the most public conspiracy, do you think?

Teespring: Fundraising with Custom T-Shirts

image TeeSpring

Are you looking for a way to raise money for a good cause? Whether it’s in your own backyard (Dr. bills, adoption, surgery) or for your community (ex. Sandy Hook Shooting, New park in your area, Boston Bombing) but don’t have the start-up money or EVEN know where to start helping out?

Creating anything custom is hard work if you don’t have the capital to buy everything necessary to start. If you want to start making custom tshirts, for example- you’ll need to find a wholesaler who sells the shirts (and possibly buy them in many different colors, sizes, and styles), and you’ll also need help from a company who has screen printing equipment.

Most of us don’t have the kind of money on hand to do something like this starting out. 600+ for shirts PLUS paying for screen printing and if you were trying to SELL them, you’d also have to pay to ship them out as well. That would add up to more than $1,000.

If you’re thinking about partnering up with a printing company online, you also MIGHT want to think twice. Usually their printing isn’t up to par (very low quality) and they charge an arm and a leg basically. So the people who DO want to buy your designs are probably going to end up mad customers demanding their money back!

That’s where Teespring steps into play. They allow you to create and design your own custom tees without ANY upfront cost at ALL. That means no money to be raised, no knocking on people’s doors asking for donations, AND you can get right to work!

Once you design your shirt, the buyer is the one who funds the shirts. They will choose their size WITH your design.. so you’re not sitting there panhandling shirts all day and end up with a ton left. THEY choose their sizing, so you always have the right amount of shirts!

Then they are shipped directly to the buyers address provided at the time they buy the shirt. SO, there’s another cost that isn’t laid on you! SHIPPING is higher than what you think it is too. Just shipping a tshirt could cost at least $6-10. You have to provide the packaging (box), something for the shirt to be in (plastic) so it doesn’t get wet, AND then the shipping fee.

The Teespring tees are nothing but HIGH quality apparel. So you don’t have to worry about someone purchasing your design and then wanting a refund. They only provide service that they would be happy with themselves! WIN/WIN!

All you do is design your shirt and then choose a price. After choosing a price you set a goal of how many shirts you THINK you can sell/or how many shirts it will take you to reach your $ goal.

I really love this idea. There are actually 2 campaigns that I am wanting to start with Teespring. First, my dad died in a motorcycle accident when I was 7 and my mom who was widowed (AND a stay at home mom at the time) was left to foot the bill for his funeral. She paid the funeral off, but never had the extra money to get him a headstone.

He deserves a headstone, I want him to have one, and I would like to do this for both my dad and my mom. That’s my first campaign that will be going on.

Secondly, my infant niece was born at 25 weeks on June 1, 2013 and didn’t make it. My sister isn’t only dealing with the trauma of losing her daughter but worried about how she is going to pay for the funeral as well.. so that’s my second campaign—to help her!

Here are others ideas, the t-shirts they made, and the money they raised to get where they needed to be in life.

image

A couple sold this "Love makes a family shirt" to raise money to adopt

image

This one included children's and toddler's shirts to raise money for an 11-year-old to sing in a children's choir in Hungary

image

This one raised over 85k for Boston relief

Don’t you think that this is an amazing way to raise money? I do! Open-mouthed smile

Tell me what you think about the shirts.

14 Differences Between New Zealand and Iceland

Iceland and New Zealand do have some similarities to one another. Because of this fact, the two countries are occasionally mistaken for one another or confused in other ways. However, it's time to clear the record and point out the differences between the two nations.

Iceland

clip_image001
Image via Flickr by bsmethers
Iceland was discovered by Vikings during a period between 860 and 875 AD. The above image is a prime example of the chilly beauty that characterizes much of this country. While there are relatively cold areas of New Zealand, Iceland wins the contest of which country gets chillier. Iceland is also a few smaller country than New Zealand is, being only a little under 40,000 square miles in size.

New Zealand

clip_image002
Image via Flickr by cubagallery
New Zealand was discovered by the Maori around 1300 AD, and then rediscovered by the Dutch in 1642. With some of the most dramatic examples of different landforms and climates of any one country on earth across its 139,000 square miles of landmass, New Zealand is a hard place to pin down. However, it is most definitely not the same as Iceland.

Child Differences

Children are an important part of any population, and as such present an important contrast between the two countries. People in Iceland have a 33.81% lower likelihood of dying while they're infants than do people in New Zealand. Those who survive to adulthood tend to produce 3.26% less children of their own.

Efficiency Differences

The cold has a definite impact on how resources are used in Iceland. The difference in latitude may also contribute to using more light. They consume 77.58% more oil than do the kiwi people. Icelanders also utilize 5.8 times as much electricity overall as do New Zealanders.

Money Differences

Money is a major factor for most societies, and these two are no different in that regard. Both are countries based on capitalism. However, the differences between the two are plentiful.
Icelanders are comparatively wealthy, earning on average 45.05% more money than do people in New Zealand. This is intriguing, since an Icelander is 12.33% more likely to be unemployed than his or her New Zealand counterpart. However, Icelanders who are employed tend to work 5.1% more hours during the year. There is also a 22.65% smaller difference in wealth distribution among the population, leading to a far smaller level of class division. Of course, Icelanders also spend 31% more of their money on caring for their health.

Health Differences

Health can be impacted by a lot of variables. If you've ever stayed in New Zealand hotels, you know that since much of the country is located near beaches, fitness is a common trait of the local people. But there are many dissimilarities between the two nations that go beyond geography. An individual in Iceland is more likely to have HIV or AIDS than a New Zealander by a factor of two. Notwithstanding this disadvantage, Icelanders have .31 years -- roughly 113 extra days -- of lifespan versus their kiwi counterparts.
There are some things in common between these two island nations. However, there are more than enough differences to make them easy to tell apart.

Beauty Review: Almay Smart Shade CC Cream Complexion Corrector #SmartShadeCC

image
Disclosure: I received this item as a perk through Klout.

It’s summer and time for some fun! I love being able to go outside without fur boots and a HUGE winter jacket. Even in the spring here I think Mother Nature was a bit confused.. but now that’s summer- it’s time for shorts, flip flops, and less makeup!

YES, I said less makeup. I have oily skin so it’s hard for me to wear a liquid or mousse makeup without sweating it off within 5 seconds of walking outside. When I seen that Almay was making a CC cream, I was all for it. I was thinking I could use it alone or at least under a mineral foundation to keep the oil and shine at bay this summer.
WP_002873
How are BB and CC creams different? BB creams are heavier than tinted moisturizers but lighter than a foundation. BB Creams provide coverage with added SPF and anti-oxidants. CC Creams are different because they are made to correct the redness and a color corrector. They are more light and fluffy than a foundation or BB cream.
I was very impressed with the Almay CC Cream. It comes in 3 different colors, so whether you are light, medium/light, or medium skin tone they have something for you!
WP_002875
This corrects the discoloration in the skin while hiding redness and irritation. I love it because it covers the skin but isn’t heavy like foundation is. It’s lighter than foundation is and has SPF built in, so it’s perfect for summer.
image
It’s very easy to apply. I put it on just like I would foundation. I dab it on my nose, cheeks, forehead, chin, and under my eyes and blend outward. You can use your fingers, but I use my makeup sponge.
WP_002881
The best part is you can wear it alone for a light summer look or you can wear it under foundation for additional coverage and added SPF protection. It is built to naturally blend to your skin tone so that it isn’t too light or too dark for you.
WP_002890
I really like that it helps to correct skin tone NOW and overtime. It helps to decrease the appearance of imperfections, discoloration, and dull skin tone. It also helps to give an overall radiant complexion by smoothing, hydrating, and evening the skin tone out.

I love that it doesn’t cake up underneath a makeup if you’re using it during the day for work or an outing. I can use both mineral powder or a liquid foundation and it still looks natural.

It is great for hiding those dark circles and discoloration/skin spots. I’ve also found that if I apply this with a buffing brush I get even MORE coverage and it still looks natural. Blends beautifully!

Game Review: Reverse Charades- Girls Night in Edition & Sports Edition

Reverse Charades: Girls' Night In Edition, an expansion pack for Reverse Charades, consists of 220 cards that feature women-themed words. Game play remains the same as in the base game, with players divided into two teams. On a turn, all but one player on a team give charades-style clues to that one person left out, and that person guesses as many words as possible in sixty seconds. After each player on both teams has had a shot at guessing (and both teams have had the same number of turns), the team with the most words guessed wins.

Reverse Charades: Sports Edition, an expansion pack for Reverse Charades, consists of 220 cards that feature sports-themed words. Game play remains the same as in the base game, with players divided into two teams. My Review

WP_002868

I was sent two packs of the Reverse Charades Expansion Pack games. As you can guess it’s the Girls Night In and Sports Editions. One for the guys, one for the girls. OR you can swap them out and mix them up to add to the fun!

Reverse charades is just like it sounds- the opposite of the regular charades. In the regular game of charades one person acts out the card and the group tries to guess the word they are trying to act out.

In reverse charades an entire group (except one player) acts out the card, while the remaining player is the guesser. You do need 6 or more people to make this game interesting.

WP_002866WP_002864

You can have a girls or guys night in, (WHICH is the new going out) by groups. The girls night in or the guys night in. OR you can have both girls and guys over and play against each other, which I think is the best way to do it.!

WP_002871WP_002870

Invite some couples over for drinks and snacks. Give the guys the girl cards and the girls the sports cards. Have the guys acting out the “girls night in” cards, and the girls acting out the “sports” cards. It could be a battle of the sexes and see who wins!

It would be epic and a memory filled night! Make sure to bring your camera so you can capture the oh-so-funny moments. Time does fly when you are having fun.. and before you know it you won’t know what time it is when you’re playing these amazing games!

I could definitely see these being big hits at a bachelorette and bachelor parties, holidays, and summer nights! They are hilarious, and a fun way to have a get together. Throw some cocktails and food together and wa-lah the perfect night in!

New Expansion Packs
Perfect for spring and summertime parties, we've introduced THREE NEW expansion word packs to rave reviews:

Girls’ Night In Edition—perfect for that pink gift or girls-only parties with fun women-themed words like: mani-pedi, blind date, Charlie’s Angels, shaving legs, aerobics and soccer mom.  A portion of the sales of this edition goes to support breast cancer research.

Sports Edition—Get ready to rumble at tailgate parties and victory celebrations with athletic-themed words like: grand slam, fumble, Olympic torch, 7th inning stretch, synchronized swimming, kickboxing and tag team wrestling.

What do you think would be a funny card to act out? Would you rather play all girls or guys vs. girls?

Buy it: $9.99 a pack at Reverse Charades.

Each expansion pack has 220 new words, fits perfectly inside the award-winning Reverse Charades Original or Junior Editions  ($23.99 each)
