SkinActives Skin Care Review

Salicylic Wash

You use this once or twice daily to cleanse skin.

As you may know, most acne cleansers have Salicylic in them. The reason most Acne medicines contain Salicylic is because it has such a great ability to penetrate the pores to get the deep down dirt and grime. It works at reducing the amount of oil in the pores so you don’t get as much acne also.

Begin with warm water. Dipping a washcloth into almost hot water and then rubbing it on your face in a circular motion to activate and open your pores.

Salicylic Acid is also great for other skin problems, such as psoriasis. It can help to loosen and break up the clumped up skin. Then gently massage the cleanser into your facial skin (avoid your eyes, nose, and mouth areas). Rinse your face with warm water, and then pat dry with a towel.

It may take several applications (depending on how much you use it) to first show results. It needs to have time to get the deepest down dirt and then begin protecting your skin from other dirt trying to enter. It reduces the number of blockages of pores and breakouts.

Salicylic acids come in pads, lotions, gels, and regular cleansers. If you are using this wash, do NOT use another form of salicylic acid, because it can dry out your skin if used too much.

If you have acne or blackheads on other parts of your body, this cleanser is very safe to use on your body as well. Do not put this on your entire body, just put it on the affected area, and then rinse with warm water.

You must continue using this wash if you want your pores to stay unclogged and breakouts gone. When you stop using it, the dirt will find it’s way back in and you’ll have breakouts again. So use this as needed, and continue to use at least every other day if not everyday.

I really liked this wash. It isn’t expensive, and it works just as well as the expensive ones. For Skinactives price, you could purchase something else and have even smoother, more beautiful skin. Who could pass that up?

Salicylic acid can cause dryness, irritation, and burning. This shouldn’t occur if you are using an oil-free moisturizer after you use the salicylic acid. Also make sure you aren’t using it too much. One time a day should be all that you need.

I really like this. In this summer, because of the heat and sweating constantly, I end up with acne on my face and shoulders. This has really helped to reduce and eliminate those pesky bumps.

It doesn’t smell and can be used morning or night. I use it at night to make sure my pores stay as clean as possible.

Vitamin A Cream

Use on clean, dry skin before bed to nourish the skin and help fight wrinkles.

This cream is amazing, it is really evening out my skin tone. Not only does it even out skin tones in your face, but this is amazing as an all over body cream. As I’d said a couple of times before, I have Keratosis Pilaris- nicknamed chicken skin for a reason.

I have had Keratosis Pilaris since I was twelve, and until last year- I didn’t even know what it was or what would help to rid of it. For a very long time, I thought I might have been allergic to laundry detergent. I was amazed that 50% of Americans have this and have no idea what it is or what can sure it.

I was reading the DermaDoctor manual, and it showed that this can be cured by Retinol A cream. When I went to the doctor the Retinol A Cream was $80 to pick it up. I can’t afford that, so obviously I started checking into stuff that I could afford and would actually work.

I can use this mixed with Hugo Naturals’ Body Oil and it helps to diminish the bumps and make them invisible. Nothing can absolutely cure this forever. If you stop using your treatment, they will always come back!!

Bright-I Cream

Use once or twice daily on clean skin around the eyes and on the eyelids to reduce puffiness and dark circles.

After only 10 days, I could tell a huge difference under my eyes. This is great for dark circles AND bags. I don’t suggest that you use this during the day because if you wear makeup over it, the makeup will curl into little balls. So use this as a nighttime regimen and you’ll love it.

Not only has my dark circles diminished after just a short amount of time, when I wake up my eyes has less puffiness. I have used this by itself for about a week and a half, and then started adding a body oil to it, and it worked even more fabulous.

My under eye skin was super soft and the darkness definitely did fade. It doesn’t smell bad, and it isn’t greasy at all. I’ve noticed some eye products were greasy and hard to get off in the morning. Not this one, it came off after one wash. I really like it.

My Thoughts*

This book takes an entirely new approach to HTML and CSS. There are different types of people who would like to learn how to design with HTML and CSS without having to learn everything there is about programming.

Most HTML and CSS books are hard to understand for normal people like you and I. They are dry and impersonal, so it is harder to learn. This book has full color on every single page, so not only does it make it more interesting, it also makes it easier for visual learners to comprehend.

This educational book is one that you will enjoy picking up, reading, then referring back to. It will make you wish other technical topics were presented in such a simple, attractive and engaging way!

This book breaks down every aspect of HTML and CSS, and puts it into easy to understand chapters. On every single page of the chapter, it has different aspects of HTML or CSS, on the adjoining page, it shows how the HTML or CSS would look if you make it live.

This makes it so much easier for me to understand, because I can see the HTML on one side, and what it will look like on my website or blog on the other side.

This book is so beautifully constructed. The text is large, so it’s easier to read when your sitting it beside your computer and writing the HTML. It’s easy to thumb through when you’re in a hurry because of it being broken down into chapters.

When you AREN’T in a hurry, you can sit down and read this book. I have already given this book it’s own binder and sat down and wrote notes for every single page.

I am not new to HTML and CSS. I have had my blog for over 3 years, and I love to re-work it in any way that I can. Now that I am interested in designing blogs and websites for others, this book has become something of a golden ticket for me.

I have read more than a dozen books on learning HTML and CSS. Some of them did teach me what I needed to know, but some of them were duds all together. When a book is written in a textbook type format, people usually don’t want to read it. They think that it will be too hard to start and finish from a book like that.

I am a learner at heart. I am always trying to learn something new and exciting. Whether it be history, science, crafts, writing help, or designing websites. So I have read the textbook type formatted books as well as the simpler versions.

This book is WAY better at showing and explaining all the different elements and styling that come with HTML and CSS. It even explains older types of HTML and CSS just in case you run upon it, you’ll know what to do.

The best thing about this book is the way it’s structured. Every page is built for visual learners. The pages are colored, which make it stand out. It has the HTML version of the website and the what you would see if you saved the HTML and viewed the webpage.

I think that this book is going to be HUGE. When people look at how simple designing and coding actually are, all of us will have a run for our money. =)

Other books can’t even TRY to compare to this one. I am absolutely in LOVE with this book. I will always keep it as a HTML/CSS encyclopedia, because that is what it is.

I have never had the advantage to read ANY book or any article online about HTML and CSS that could have taught me as much as this book has in the last month since I have had it.

I praise the author for letting us newbies and bloggers learn what he has known for most of his life. He has been designing and building websites longer than I’ve had access to the internet.

If you are interested in learning HTML and CSS- for blog design, website design, or just as a hobby- I TOTALLY recommend this book.

AR-15 Vertical Fashion Shirt Review

This shirt is amazing. Who wouldn’t want to wear a shirt with a gun on it? What could say “I kick ass” more than this? I think nothing!
This shirt just feels so empowering to wear. I have never shot an Assault Rifle before, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to. I used to go hunting and practice shooting with my dad and uncles.
I never SHOT anything, but it still felt great to be invited, like I was one of the guys. There’s nothing like being with the guys on a hunting trip. It’s great to spend so much time with people you love while they teach you something new about life.

My Thoughts*
I used to hate cleaning windows. It seemed to take forever to get those pristine, smear free windows. Too much work without any CLEAR results. UGH.
All other natural cleaners left my house smelling like vinegar, and they tended to cloud the windows after awhile. All chemical, commercial cleaners make me cough because of the chemicals in the spray.

You can switch the nozzle to turn it off, so kids can't spray it in their face or all over everything. <Adisyn has a huge problem with trying to dump stuff out and get into everything> so I was glad to see that it had the nozzle.

My kids LOVE cartoons. They really enjoyed the chance to get to watch Babar the Complete First Season. They have the Christmas Babar and really loved that one also, so I knew they would like this one as well.
I love that it can keep my children entertained while I clean the house or get some work done WHILE teaching them some important life lessons. Challenged present themselves to Babar, but he never backs down, never gives up, and this teaches our children to persevere through anything.
Teaching your children to try their hardest is the best thing you can do for them. All while watching cartoons, who would have thought? This is an amazing collection to add to your classic cartoon selection.

3. Diffuse in the car on long trips.  It is very calming and uplifting, and relieves stress.  Its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-pathogenic activity also enhances the enjoyment of travel.

My Thoughts*

As soon as you open the bottle, you can tell that this is made out of natural oranges. It smells SO good, as if they have just dripped orange juice right into the bottle and sent it to you in a bottle.
I have been using this essential oil for awhile now. Even though it’s only a 15ml bottle, a drop or two goes a very long way. I have tried it in so many different ways and it worked in ALL ways that it can be used.
Inhaling this can lower your stress and anxiety levels. Because I have been diagnosed with bipolar mania II AND anxiety disorder, reducing anxiety is the #1 go-to method for bipolar.
Bipolar tends to get me all riled up and frustrated easily, so I have to remember to step back and take deep breaths when I am feeling overwhelmed. Wild Orange is naturally an uplifting scent, so it really helps to reduce stress and relieve anxiety.
Although I don’t have a problem with obesity, this Wild Orange essential oil is great for reducing the amount of water that your body holds in. All you have to do is put 1-2 drops of this essential oil into a bottle or glass of water and sip it.
Putting this essential oil into your water will also help with digestive problems and acid reflux. So if you have reflux or seem to always have an upset stomach, this is great to pack around with you to drop into water and sip throughout the day to keep your stomach at ease.
I have also added this my bath water. You can add 1-2 drops but I decided to add a little bit more just for more potency. Adding this to your bath water or ingesting this can help with collagen renewal. It stimulates collagen to boost your skins elasticity.
Also added to bathwater it can help keep cold and flu away. It is also THOUGHT to be very useful in keeping cancers away.
I do know that it isn’t an overpowering orange smell. It smells SO amazing and refreshing. It works very well as a natural house cleaner as well. I have been taking this for more than a couple of weeks now, and I am totally in awe of this. I have taken tons of energy pills, drank energy drinks, and tried many other sources of “energy”.

If you eat healthy and exercise while taking these, it WILL help you lose weight. The ingredients in these pills boost your metabolism. Boosting your metabolism helps you lose calories quicker than just exercise and diet alone.

Although I haven’t been trying to lose weight, I took some for the energy. It kept me alert and going for about 4-5 hours, and then I’d take another after eating.

My mom has been taking them for weight loss though. She has always been self conscious about how big she is. She tells me all the time that she thinks she’s fat. So when I was asked to review these, I immediately thought about mom.

She started at taking 1 a day, weighing 155 pounds. I was only sent about 15-20 days worth depending on how many you want to take a day. She took all of them but 4 (which I took to try out). She ended up losing about 4 lbs, during the span of about 2 and a half weeks.

My Thoughts*

I have been using this for about a month. Because I have oily skin, I can only use this every other day because it has extreme moisturizing agents in it. It has coconut oil in it, so it has repairing agents that help speed up healing of bruises and other skin problems.

My skin had some old discoloration from acne scars from when I was a teenager. This has lightened the discoloration to where it can’t be seen at all. It has left my skin extremely hydrated and moisturized. 

This helps create moisturizes without any irritation or redness. It helps with the effectiveness of my sunscreen. When I am going swimming, I can put this on <All over my body> and then put the sunscreen on and it doubles the effectiveness of it.

I also like to use this on my kids under their sunscreen. They love being outside, but lately it has been VERY hot and the UV rays have doubled. They have very fair skin and they burn very easily. I want them to be safe from sunburn as much as possible.

I have dry, itchy skin most of the time. I have bought and used plenty of products to help with the dry itchy skin on my legs. Some have worked, others haven’t. This does though. It helps seal in the moisture with the Vitamin C.

Adam works outside. He is a foreman for our local tree-trimming service. They travel to surrounding counties in Kentucky and Tennessee, so his day is long, hard, and extremely hot in the summer. The first thing he does when he comes in is shower and wash his face.

Other bar soaps are drying to your skin and can leave it feeling like you have rubbed sandpaper across it.  This isn’t drying at all. It soothes and relaxes while making my skin feel absolutely amazing.

As a woman, I definitely have issues getting all of my mascara off in the shower. I get out of the tub and have to re-wash my entire face because I have raccoon eyes. It is hard to tell if you’ve gotten all the mascara off if you don’t have a mirror in your shower.

I have tested another shower mirror before, but it didn’t work out so well. The fog in the shower didn’t mix well with the mirror and it was always hard to see. The mirror was very small and I didn’t like it very much.

The other shower mirror had a distortion to it. It felt like looking into a fun-house mirror and I had to hold it really close to my face just to be able to see.

It comes with an instruction book on how to put the silicone on and where to place it at. This helped me tons when I got it. I put it together and had it on the wall within 10 minutes. You can also remove the mirror from the wall (when and if you wish) without the silicone damaging your walls or tile.

I have been using this mirror for over a month and I have never had one single issue with it fogging up. It has a light built in with a push button on the side. It’s easy to use and is VERY bright. I love it.

This isn’t held on by suction cups like other shower products. Usually those suction cups give out and leave your stuff in pieces in the bathtub. This comes with easy to apply silicone that has held and held in place with no issues.

The mirror is detachable, so all you do is place the mirror under the running shower water (at the temp you take a shower) and let it run into the mirror for approximately 5-7 seconds. This is what keeps the mirror from fogging. If you do notice it starting to fog, just fill it back up with water and the fog will disappear.

There isn’t one bit of distortion to this mirror. If you stand really far back  and rock slightly you can see a slight distortion to it, but I can’t se why anyone would want to stand that far away and rock while shaving anyway.

It comes with a self-stored squeegee that helps remove the excess water off the front of the mirror for a better view of yourself. It is amazing because this mirror can be pushed down for shorter users and pushed up for taller users. So that everyone in your household can use this.

You can wipe those raccoon eyes off and your husband can shave in the shower without knicking and cutting himself to pieces. I love this mirror. It isn’t expensive, and yet has so many great qualities.

This makes it TONS easier to be able to get all the dirt and grime as well as black and white heads off of your skin. This also makes it extremely easy to be able to tweeze in the shower. Because your hair softens in the shower, it’s a great time to pluck away and it not hurt so bad.

This is perfect for this. It is also a great shaving mirror for women as well as men. Because it is detachable, you can make sure you got all the hairs off of your underarms, legs, and wherever else you don’t want to miss a spot.

And because it is detachable, I usually take this out of the shower and use it as a makeup mirror as well because it is so big and is lighted. It makes putting makeup on SO much easier because I can sit down or take the mirror and prop it up and don’t have to stand up close to my bathroom mirror.

It will never break- no matter how many times it’s dropped or what it’s dropped on because it is built with an acrylic mirror instead of a glass one. Although this mirror is 1 pound, it isn’t as heavy as you would think.

When using it in your hair- you heat it up in the microwave- and then I suggest dipping a brush or a comb straight into the jar. (If you aren’t using this jar for cooking) and then brush or comb the oil into your hair. Put it on your scalp and massage it in. THEN rub more from your roots all the way to the ends of your hair. RUB it in. Leave it on for as long as you want.
I have also started heating this up and mixing it in with my dog’s food. We got a new Red Nose Red Pit Bull and the kids and Adam named him Apollo. He got his name from the Movie Rocky. His dad’s name is Rocky.
