Funkoos Organic Baby & Toddler Clothing Review

ikclip_image001

Funkoos is an amazing site that sells organic clothing for babies and toddlers. The strive to bring safe, organic, and affordable clothing for kids and their parents.

2012-07-06 08.40.092012-07-06 08.40.21

We chose the born to shop tee. This shirt is VERY pretty. Adi is a little diva at heart, and she loved to show this off. It is made out of very durable, soft organic cotton.

They are very easy to put on and take off because they stretch. We chose an 18-24 months shirt and Adisyn usually wears 3T, but it fit and she even has room to grow in it. So your baby or toddler will be able to wear these long after they’ve hit the mark of the size of clothing you’ve chosen.

I love how colorful the lettering and designs on the shirt are. These are great in all seasons. They aren’t too heavy in the summer and spring, and can be layered very easily in the fall and winter.

This shirt has definitely stood up to play time. It is fun, simple yet beautiful, and chemical and pesticide free. Adisyn loved how soft the cotton was. I loved how cute she looked in it.

When shopping for baby shower gifts, keep Funkoos Organic Baby Clothes in mind! They have 0-24 months body suits, short sleeves, long sleeves, mittens, washcloths and MORE. They even have Baby Sets!

If you aren’t sure what to  get, you can always buy a gift card!

Review: Educational Insights 8 Pack Playfoam

Day 88 of The Holiday Gift Guide

clip_image001

clip_image001The ONLY no-mess creativity substance for preschoolers! Preschoolers love to create with their hands. What better way to let them express their creativity then with Educational Insights Foam Balls?

This is made for kids as young as 3- So Aidan, Adisyn, and I had a ball creating different stuff with these. Adisyn wanted me to make people, dogs, and horses while Aidan wanted me to make him some play guns!

I loved how I never had to clean up huge messes after the kids were done playing with it. It is completely mess free. No icky, sticky, gooey mess that you have to find containers for. This doesn’t dry out no matter how long you leave it out because it is FOAM.

2012-06-03 16.31.18

Not only is the foam interactive and engaging but it’s educational as well. See how vibrant and beautiful the colors are? Before Aidan got out of school, Adisyn had time to play with these by herself. She would bring me each colored ball and ask me the colors. These could definitely help teach colors!

This is non-toxic and great for on the go play because it isn’t messy. It’s like playdoh in ways that you can smash it, mold it, and create with it.. but it’s WAT better because there is no smell, no mess, and WAY MORE play time.

Adisyn and Aidan even had tons of fun squishing and rolling this on the wall. They would make different things on the wall and then peel it right back off. It never stuck to the wall or created a mess EVER. I am in love with this stuff, because there are SO many possibilities.

Of course at the end of a week we had no more different colored playfoam. They had smashed it all together and created one giant ball of multicolored foam. It was very pretty though Winking smile

This can also be beneficial in the classroom, so if you’re a teacher—or you teach your children at home. I loved that there were 8 different colors. There were so many possibilities of what we could make.

Vitamins Your Body Needs After Childbirth

baby
Prenatal vitamins were created to help your baby’s growth and development while in the womb, but it is important to continue nurturing your body and your baby’s body after childbirth. Vitamins and supplements can help your baby continue to grow healthy and strong, and they can help you heal and maintain good emotional and physical health after childbirth. Talk to your doctor to find out which vitamins and supplements will be best for you.

Vitamin D helps increase your milk supply and works with calcium to help build and repair strong bones. Vitamin D receptors have also been discovered in muscle tissue, and can help strengthen muscles as you increase your workouts to lose that baby weight. Stronger muscles typically burn fat more quickly, so it is important to incorporate a balanced strength and cardiovascular workout to help work off that weight in a healthy way. Vitamin C helps repair cartilage, skin, blood vessels, and tissue, which is especially important after labor. It can build scar tissue and help rebuild wounds, which are especially important for women who have had C-sections. In addition to Vitamin C, iron helps rebuilt red blood cells, which are important during labor and for the 4-6 weeks that most women bleed after childbirth. Keep your blood healthy and your energy levels high, so you can focus on your new little one.

B Vitamins help reduce depression. Many women experience some type of postpartum depression after giving birth. Having a baby is a tremendous life change, not to mention the physical exertion your body goes through during labor and delivery. Surround yourself with people who love and support you, and take time to ensure that your emotional health is thriving. B Vitamins help with the physical aspects of warding off depression, as well as getting consistent exercise. It doesn’t have to be intense or high-impact. Just take that little one out for some fresh air in the stroller and go for a 30-minute walk.

If you are trying to lose the baby weight after a pregnancy, be warned that crash dieting can send your energy levels to the depths at a time when you need your energy the most. Be sure to eat healthy, balanced meals and take vitamins and supplements to lose weight in a healthy way and preserve your energy and well-being to take care of yourself and your child.

Paige One looks forward to writing about a variety of ideas, from fitness to fashion. Don’t forget to take vitamins during and after pregnancy and stay healthy!

Top 5 States For Foreclosures

Since the housing crisis erupted in 2007, Florida has been among the top five states in the country for foreclosure activity. While the housing market has improved in Florida in recent months, it still holds an unenviable position in the top states for foreclosures.

The top states, in order, for the first half of 2012 include Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, California and Florida. Two factors collided in these states that continue to slow the housing recovery. They are overbuilding and questionable lending practices. Even though years have lapsed since the initial housing crash, the fallout ramifications in the construction industry are still strong in these states. Employment is still down, demand for homes continues to be soft, and lenders have tightened the requirements for mortgage qualification.

How a Foreclosure Attorney Helps
If you’ve been hard hit by the housing crisis and find the prospect of losing your home is real, consider an Orlando foreclosure attorney who can help you. Your foreclosure doesn't have to be inevitable. An attorney can explain the process and lay out options that may save your home; short of that, an attorney at your side can lessen the negative impact on your credit rating and future financial obligations. Since the housing market in Florida is showing some strength, having an attorney at your side may be instrumental in keeping your property.

It may be that the best option you have for saving your home is through a loan modification. Negotiating directly with your lender can be fraught with delays, misplaced paperwork and misunderstandings. An Orlando foreclosure attorney is in a better position to monitor the process between you and the bank, eliminating any surprises down the road. The lawyer may also be able to negotiate a short sale for you, staying on top of the transaction between the participating Realtor and your lender.

The foreclosure attorney in Orlando could also advise you to walk away from your home, if it makes no financial sense to stay there. Being thousands of dollars underwater may take a long recovery. Continuing to make payments that are a significant drain on your resources is not always a smart financial move. Having an attorney at your side provides protection against the lender from engaging in activities that could hurt you in the future.

Review: PRK Products Inc. Universal Baby Food Storage

Universal Baby Food Jar Organizer

PRK Products make being a parent so much easier.! I don’t know how I ever lived without this. It stores up to 16 baby food glass jars or square food for ALL stages of baby food effectively and safely.

This is truly a universal baby food storage. It arrives not put together so that you can choose which sides to use. There are two size sides. One for the smaller baby food (as you see in the picture above) and then a taller side so you can store Stage 3 foods when you’re baby grows into it.

image

You can stack stuff on top of this, which makes it so easy to use. You can stick it wherever it is best reached. In a cabinet, on a shelf, or even in the refrigerator.

image

A growing baby requires lots of things that take up a ton of space. Now there is one less SPACE taker to NOT worry about. The best part about it- no matter what shape or size food your baby food jars are- this will accommodate them!

This even works fabulous for homemade baby food. So- if you make your own and find yourself running out of space in the refrigerator or freezer- NO more worries. Now you can make all you want. Your baby will definitely get all he/she needs!

2012-06-08 18.13.302012-06-08 18.13.21

It even comes with these little pieces you can stick on the back legs. This little piece makes the back of the holder taller than the front so when you grab a bottle of baby food off of it, the others will just slide into place.

I love that it has a totally open back so I can just slide new baby food into it, without stressing over pushing all the others backwards. You can even buy 2 and stack them on top of each other if your baby is in the transitioning stage. Have the stage 2 on top and stage 3 on the bottom.

Baby food jars seem harmless enough… until you run out of space or drop them! Here are some facts about our Universal Baby Food Jar Organizer:

  • Stores up to 16 jars of baby food

Review: Master Lock dialSpeed 1500 EDBX: Tech Savvy Padlock

When I was in HIgh School, I swear I’d forget my combination more times then I could remember it. Here it was early morning and the bell was about to ring and I am stuck at my locker looking dumb.

I couldn’t remember it for the life of me. No matter WHAT I did, I would ALWAYS forget.  And then when I did remember it would be endlessly turning it back and forth, back and forth. I hated it.

Now with the new and best technology Masterlock presents NO. 1500E DIALSPEED™ COMBINATION PADLOCKS. This lock is NOTHING like the older types. There is absolutely no swiveling from side to side hoping to hit the right number.

This lock features a keypad with 4 arrows. The keypad is very similar to that of a cell phone. The buttons are very cushiony and easy to use. It comes with a code already installed on it, but each user can change it to whatever they like (up, down, down, left) or something similar.

You can choose from 4-12 positions, so only you and whoever you give it to knows the combination. This is SO much easier to use than a metal swivel pad lock. It is designed so that you can open it with just one hand. No more juggling a backpack, books, and a lunchbox!

Here is a video of the lock and how it’s used. Notice how easy it is to use?

Other features of Master Lock dialSpeed include:

  • Ability to set up to 3 additional guest codes for family members to have access without being able to reset the code
  • Unique Backup master Code securely stored at Master Lock Vault
  • 5 year batter can only be replaced when the lock is in the open position
  • 1” Boron carbide verticle shackle fits lovers and provides increased cut resistance

Master Lock dialSpeed is available from the Master Lock website and retails for $39.68 and is a great investment for middle and high school kids, college kids who want to keep their stuff safe from their roommate, or just anyone needing an up to date lock.

I use mine to lock up my laptop and tablet when I’m not using them. Especially when we go somewhere! I know that my stuff is safe and secure because this has a feature that makes it harder for someone to try and cut it with a bolt cutter,!

Review: Footminders Catwalk: Orthotic Insoles for High Heel Shoes

LourdesIzabel

I am addicted to high heeled boots. I absolutely love what they do to an outfit. They can take something casual and turn into a classy, sophisticated look. I LOVE the boots, but my feet sure do NOT love me when the day is over.

Walking in high heeled boots all day means achy, sore, & tired feet. Walking in high heels (whether it be high heeled boots, booties, sandals, or dress shoes put your weight on the very tip of your feet and causes burning and pain sensations in the ball of the foot.

I am no stranger to the burning. I have dealt with it. I could never find any kind of insert that would properly fit inside my heels. So- beauty over comfort- I would soak in the pain. Now I don’t have to.

3 weeks ago, I got the chance to review Catwalk high-heel insoles. These inserts are amazing. I can change these as I change shoes. Leaving my feet happy and relieved they aren’t having to put up my crap.

clip_image001

These inserts support the arch and front of my feet (called forefoot). Because there isn’t a gap in my arch, I can walk with a greater confidence knowing the burning pain isn’t going to come later. These inserts readjust my weight to the entire foot instead of it just being placed at the front!

clip_image001

I put on my boot after inserting the insole (It was extremely easy) and OMG it felt like walking on a comfort cloud. It felt so unbelievable. They are easy to transfer to other shoes. They don’t move around making me slip and slide.

Comfort isn’t the word for it. It makes my shoes fit better so they aren’t getting slapped  and beaten against the ground or floor when I’m walking. This makes walking in heels absolutely desirable. I can totally do an entire day without discomfort now.

They also have some for men, which I plan to buy. Adam works outside all day in steel toe boots, so his feet are achy when he gets home. I love that they have a pair that fit both work boots and sneakers. He could transfer them when he got off work.!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Review: Ecover Laundry Powder ZERO

Our fantastic Ecover Laundry Powder Zero is especially formulated to give effective cleaning on all your whites and colors with a fragrance free finish. Without harmful bleach or optical brighteners Ecover Laundry Powder ZERO packs a punch while respecting your family's skin.

Ecover Zero Natural Laundry Powder Fragrance Free -- 48 oz

  • Tough on Dirt
  • Plant-based and mineral ingredients
  • Not tested on animals
  • ZERO fragrance

I got a chance to review this thanks to the NaturallySavvy Blogger Program. Usually I’m not one to buy a powder laundry detergent. Other’s that I bought were leaving these weird little marks on my clothes that look like the water smashed the detergent in my clothes. I am so glad that I gave this a try though because there was nothing on my clothes except an amazing clean!

This has totally changed my perspective on powder detergents. It is a natural laundry detergent made from plant-based and mineral ingredients. It is great for whites and colors all the same!

I wish I had known about this when my kids were babies, because I was always looking for natural laundry detergents that were safe for babies. This one totally is. Because it has no chemicals, fragrance, or dyes it is perfect for little skin!

This is also safe for your septic tanks. This isn’t going to cause any chemicals to be washed into your local water, so this is hands down ABSOLUTELY perfect in every way!

Of course it doesn’t smell, so you aren’t going to have lavender or mountain air scented clothes, but if you’re looking for a fragrance free all natural detergent this is the BEST! TIP: You don’t even have to use as much as it says. A full load of clothes will come out absolutely sparkling with just a small amount!!

Don’t forget to get your coupons for all Ecover Products.

Connect with Ecover on Facebook and Twitter.

If you go to their Facebook page they have printable coupons and deals for the web!

Best ways to organize recyclables for craft supplies

Recycling is not just great because it can save work and money on the products that we buy. It can also be a free source of things that you can use to make craft projects out of. Figuring out a way to organize all of those recyclables can, however, be a difficult task for the person whp has little experience in this area. There are an almost unlimited number of ways. Here are just a few of them.

1) Organizing things according to their material type
One way of keeping your recyclables together is according to the physical materials out of which they are made. Keep tin and other metal cans in one place, cardboard boxes in another, newspapers and other papers in another, and so on. Such a method of arranging items has its advantages. Different crafts projects often require different materials. You could not, for instance, use metallic objects for something that calls for cardboard or paper or other substance that you can paint on; paint will not stick easily to a metal surface. You might also feel that you need or just prefer to work with a particular type of material.

2) Organizing things according to their shape or color
The shapes and colors of objects are two other ways of categorizing and organizing them. Sometimes a particular shape is the best or only possibility for ylour project. If you are making a kaleidoscope or a small telescope, for instance, then your only choice will naturally be something cylindrical, such as a paper towel roll. Shape and color are not as important as material, however, as you can cut things to the desired shape or paint them in the desired color.

3) Organizing things according to what you would like to do with them
You may find that you personally prefer to use certain types of things for certain projects. You might for instance prefer plastic containers to tin cans even though they both are cylindrical.

4) Organizing things according to their size
Size is another big category for organizing purposes. Some projects call for small items like beads, while others call for larger ones like cans or cardboard pieces. Try and form a definite size range for the purposes of grouping. An example would be things less than an inch across; things from one to five inches across; and things six inches or bigger across. As with shape and color, there are things that you can cut and so reduce to the size which you desire.

5) Organizing things according to more than one category
Things can be organized by two or more groups. As an example you could put round things made of plastic in one place, round things made of metal in another and cubical things made of metal in another. When grouping things in this manner it is best to have a system that enables you to find things easily. That is, after all, the very purpose of having an organizational system. In the above example, it would be a good idea to have round things made of metal next to both round things made of plastic and cubical things made of metal.

6) Subcategorizing
An even better way of organizing is having things within the same group classified even further according to their peculiar characteristics. This means that within the space that you have set aside for plastic things, you will have separate places for metallic, plastic and wooden things or for objects of different sizes or shapes.

7) Things that can help you stay organized
There are many ways in which you can systematize the way you keep your recyclables together. You can buy yourself plastic bins, cardboard boxes, trash cans, cabinets or shelves, putting labels onto each of them so that you can tell at a glance what goes where. Keep those containers so that you can easily get to them—e.g. do not stack bins on top of each other.
In the end it does not really matter which method of organizing you choose. What is really important is that you use a system that makes sense to you so you can things when you want to use them.

I love that they send the purse SO protected. They wrap plastic around the handles and thin paper sheets around the metal part. The purse is bigger than I thought, so I was extremely happy. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was.
I have never had the pleasure of owning an ostrich print purse. The texture is amazing. When you feel it, you can feel the tiny little bumps that you see poking out on the purse.
2012-06-16 17.16.102012-06-16 17.16.17
The inside not only has major space, but it also has pockets and zippers to store pens, cell phone, grocery list.. whatever you want. The inside fabric is a smooth, silky fabric while the outside is embossed.
The purse I received sells for $39.99, but it’s market retail price is $87.00- so it’s more than half off!

Popular craft hobbies for the elderly

As people grow older they begin to lose their abilities to engage in much of the house and garden work that gave them satisfaction during their younger years. When that happens, they meed to develop new hobbies to keep them occupied—activities that do not require them to be up and about all the time. Here are some of the best craft hobbies for senior citizens.

Scrapbooking is one of the best activities for the elderly. You can attach photographs of their grandchildren—or of themselves when they were younger—to a piece of card stock that has been glued to scrapbook pages. To make each page more interesting, you can also use rubber stamps, stickers, ribbons, cutouts or other embellishments on each page. You can even create captions for each photograph and include inspirational verses that have special meaning for your elderly. A scrapbook can be a way of making somebody’s last years pleasant because they enable them to relieve many of their fondest memories. As Simon & Garfunkel fondly sang in “Bookends Theme,” “Preserve your memories, they’re all that’s left you.”

A similar way of collecting memories is the photo tray—a wooden tray lined with decoupage medium to which you can attach photographs. You can also make a collage by cutting out the faces from photo prints and arranging them on the tray in a creative way. It should be noted here that some old folks prefer to use a brush or a sponge to stain the tray rather than spray it.

One excellent idea for those who live in nursing homes involves the use of crayons to make items to decorate the occupants’ rooms. You take crayons that have been broken, melt them in the microwave, and pour the liquid into molds made from chocolate wrappers, which are removed after the crayons have cooled off. With these you can make all kinds of shapes to represent various themes, such as the holidays.

Sharing the holiday spirit—especially the Christmas spirit—is a big way of helping the elderly. You can make holiday cards for or with them to remind them that you still cherish them as part of your life. Making things that they can give away can also increase their self-esteem because they may not be able to afford to buy gifts for people anymore.

Those among the elderly who have become handicapped as a result of age or disease can also derive pleasure from special things designed for them. Finger painting, for instance, is perfect for those who are suffering from arthritis to the point where they can no longer use a brush. Molding clay is good even for those who can no longer make full use of their fingers. Things that can be made include beads, bowls, trays and vases. Play dough, being messier and also more colorful, is often a better alternative to clay.

Mosaics are puzzles made from a set of abstract pieces that can be grouped by color, shape or both. Unlike with the conventional puzzle, where you put together pieces in a fixed form to form a definite picture, in a mosaic you can arrange the pieces in basically any form to make your own unique pattern. This too is an activity that the elderly can enjoy. You might also consider putting together paper cutout mosaics.

Old ladies who used to take pleasure out of sewing and knitting can continue to do so into their later years and projects can be adjusted to suit their abilities. If they can still see well and have the use of their fingers, they can sew or knit just as they did before. If not, then try something like beading or using plastic canvas.

One last thing the elderly can enjoy is taking photographs of things that take place in their nursing homes. These pictures can be put into scrapbooks.
It only takes a few simple things to give your aging parents and grandparents something to enjoy. You and your children, too, will take great pleasure from taking part in these activities. Many people like to do volunteer work in hospitals and nursing homes that involves the things just described.

Book Review: The Hungry Freelancer- How to Break into the World of Freelancing

The Hungry Freelancer: How to Break Into (and Succeed In) the World of Freelance Writing
If you've ever dreamed of being a writer but don't know how to get started, this book is for you.

The Hungry Freelancer: How to Break Into (and Succeed In) the World of Freelance Writing walks you through, step-by-step, the process of becoming a freelance writer. You don't need a college degree or years of experience to succeed as a writer, and this book shows you how.
This book is amazing. It isn’t some long dialogued book that gives you a million examples of what to do. No matter what path you have taken with your writing. WHERE you want to be is something else all together. If you want to make money doing what you love (writing)—then I suggest you buy this book.
There are mistakes we all make as writers. The best thing to do is learn from these mistakes and try to avoid them. If we sit and ponder for days on what could have been better about that assignment we turned in- we would never actually get any other work done.
The best way to become a better writer is by reading and practicing your writing. If you can read a poem, a novel, a non-fiction and go through and choose what worked with these books and what could have made them better- when YOU start writing, you’ll already have some answers for yourself.
The author has been a freelancer for 7 years, so she knows what paths are best taken, and which should be avoided completely. I LOVE writing. It has been my passion since I was a very young child. When I started reading, I was always seen with a book.
When I got older and realized that making money from writing shouldn’t be TOO difficult, I started looking into different ways. If you start out completely blind- of course, you will run into dead ends. The best way to take this path is in someone else’s footsteps. NO I’m not saying follow her exact footsteps- of course you can switch it up and do it as you wish- but having a guideline and outline for beginning is always helpful.
The author gives great information on areas such as:
*Your necessary skills as a story teller.

*Where to begin if you're not sure.

*Making a living as a writer.
*What websites are best to start picking up work.

This isn’t a book with “fluffNstff” which is what I call a book that has an author who sugarcoats everything. She tells and explains that there isn’t a way that you are going to be making the big bucks at first.
You have to start out slowly and make your way forward. Which is with all careers. You aren’t going to go to Hollywood and become an actor or actress overnight- the same said with writing. You aren’t going to write an article and get paid thousands for it. BUT if you LOVE writing and can endure writing daily for 7-8 hours a day you could possibly make it.

Writing isn’t an escape to do whatever you want everyday. If you want to be a writer YOU HAVE to write. You can’t babysit during the day or go to the park with your dog. You have to fulfill the commitment of writing if you want to actually make money.

I am definitely going to use this book to my advantage, there are some amazing tips that only a freelance writer knows. I am going to break into the freelance writing world YOU WILL SEE!
You can buy this on amazon (for your kindle OR Kindle Cloud) for only $4.99

Check out her BLOG, it also has some amazing tips! Don't forget to follow!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. JessicaRenee
