Review: ClosetMaid 8 Cube Organizer & Fabric Drawers

Day 76 of Countdown to Christmas

I have an addiction with STUFF. I love to collect just about anything I can get my hands on. I have TONS of beauty products- skin care, lotion, hair care, makeup!

The worst part about it was I didn’t have anywhere to put it. I had it stacked on random bookshelves, dressers, and side tables. It didn’t look very neat and organized, AND it was harder to get to what I needed at the moment.

When I got a chance to review the ClosetMaid 8 Cube Organizer and 4 Cubeicals Fabric Drawers I was PSYCHED. I would now have somewhere to put all my stuff. Now that I live in a smaller place, it’s hard not to have to store most of it.

I didn’t want to store anything beauty related though. The heat and/or cold could possibly do serious damage to all of it. The best part about these organizers is all the choices of colors!

I was in storage heaven! There were four different color Organizers, and seventeen different colored fabric drawers. I wanted to make sure that I got something that contrasted with each other, to make it POP more!

I also wanted to make sure that the color of organizer I got would stand up to little fingers!

This didn’t take me hardly anytime at all to put together. It was together within 35 minutes. It comes with the two longer side pieces, the smaller pieces to attach to the sides to make the cubes, and then the back panel pieces and all the screws and attachments.

The only tools I needed to put it together was a hammer and a screwdriver. So nothing that any household doesn’t have. Doesn’t take up much time, and is easy to put together and move around if needed.

I was so excited when I got it put together and put up in my small bedroom. The wood is VERY durable and sturdy. I have piled numerous amounts of curling irons, blow dryers, straighteners, shampoos, conditioners, styling products, and makeup and I still have room.

I ended up getting the black organizer, so that no matter what- it will always be easy to clean and dust. White isn’t such a great idea in my house- where there are two small kids under 5- AND I love the way the black and light green compliment each other.

I love that no matter what color scheme you’re looking for- they have it. Whether it be a bright neon type of color, a dark shade, or a pastel!

It was very hard for me to decide which color to choose. They are all very pretty. The bright colors were my absolute favorites; yellow, orange, blue, pink, and green. But since Green is my absolute hands-down favorite color, I just had to go with it!

I love that the stand can either sit upright and be 8*2 or you can lay it on it’s side to make it 2*8.  I stood mine up so that it is taller than it is wide. I could stack my makeup organizers on the very top (not in the drawer space).

Then in order; Night creams, day creams, toners and such in one space, teeth whitener and bronzers in another, hair styling tools, shampoos and conditioner, lotions and body butters.

I love that everything is easily accessible and in such a pretty case. I definitely am going to buy a couple more. I want one for my closet when we end up moving (tax time) so I can organize hats, scarves, and shoes.

I also want to buy one for my craft books, binders, and crafting supplies. I love that these can basically accommodate anything that is placed in them. These would even be great to store in the bathroom to store towels, washcloths, and soaps and such.

They have such a sleek, modern look to them. They spice up any room with it’s simple yet beautiful design. AND it makes organizing a breeze!

Sleep Pink in honor of Breast Cancer #EstrovenPink

Many of you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everybody is doing their own thing to show awareness.. We’ve all seen the football players wearing their pink socks, cleats, and gloves. Bloggers are taking a different stand.

For October.. we are SLEEPING PINK. Yes, I said sleeping pink. How? When I read about the Sleep Pink op that was presented to me by Estroven and the Sits Girls, I wanted to take part in standing up to Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer runs in my family. My Moms side carries this disease, so I know that I am going to have to take extra precautions to make sure I don’t get it, and if I do- that I catch it before it’s too late.

My Grandma’s sister has had both breasts removed because of Breast Cancer. My mom THOUGHT she had it. She found a lump the size of a larger rock, but thank God it wasn’t deadly. It wasn’t cancer, YET they said. She has to get mammograms every year now.

So- my sleep pink party consisted of my mom and myself. My sister couldn’t make it over, so my mom and I just had a nice afternoon all to ourselves. We hung out, gave each other manicures, had really awesome pink drinks, and just talked. It was a nice night, and I am thankful for the time we spent together.

We painted our nails dark pink and added a light pink Breast cancer awareness ribbon to it!

Cancer doesn’t care how old you are, what you look like, skin color, how much money you make.. NOBODY is exempt from becoming another breast cancer fatality or survivor. Some make it, and some get taken by it.

Most people aren’t really sure the statistics on Breast Cancer, but every 3 minutes- a woman is diagnosed with potentially fatal Breast Cancer. So- what can YOU do to help take a stand?

For the entire month of October- Estroven is providing women with the essentials to create their own Sleep Pink Party. They provide ideas on what to do at the party, music to listen to, pink themed food and drink, as well as pink place cards, invitations, activities and more!

Review: EasyClean Duster; Dusting Made Easy

Dusting is one chore that I absolutely dread. I don’t mind washing the dishes, washing and folding laundry, or even mopping the floor. I know it’s got to be done- so I try and keep up with it all. Dusting is a dreadful task because I have so much stuff to actually dust around.

Using a regular furniture/electronic polish and a microfiber cloth ended up taking me more than an hour a week. Picking everything up, moving it around, dusting, and then putting it back was what took so much time.

The EasyClean Duster is a very unique way to dust your blinds, cabinets, ceiling fans, and above the door. You can use it on electronics, picture frames, and even shutters! I even used this to dust the inside of my truck!

It was very easy to assemble, took approximately a minute. All you have to do is slide the 3 microfiber fingers onto the fork like structure and BAM- you’re ready to get dusting!

The reason this is so easy to clean blinds with is because of the unique way in which it’s made. It isn’t built like normal dusters. This isn’t one giant duster that you have to basically squeeze between the blinds to get it to work. The unique fork construction lets each one slip between the blinds very easy.

The microfiber easily grabs and holds the dust. I love this, because I don’t want dust flying around settling on stuff that I already dusted. What’s the point in that? With the Easy Clean Duster- you know that when you’ve dusted, everything is going to stay like that. The duster will easily adjust to any size blind that you may have. Whether you have 1’, 2”, 3”, or 4”- or if you have a combination of blinds in your home. You’ll never have dusty, dirty looking blinds ever again!

Living on a road with a gravel driveway means more dust- so this thing is a life saver as well as a time saver for me! The best thing about it is that it will clean ANY surface whether it be glass, tile, wood, metal,  or plastic.

So anything in your home that needs dusting, will definitely be dusted ALL the way. Not halfway with dust still clinging to it! AND the microfiber fingers that are on the Easy Clean duster can be washed. So when you’re done, just throw them in the washer and dryer- and then put them back on the duster and you’re good to go for the next dusting!

The Microfiber fingers will last FOR a very long time. Depending on how much they are used- they can last from 6 months to 3 years! You can even get the microfiber fingers and scrub surfaces that need a really good cleaning!

I love that the handle can hold attachments! This means that you can easily reach those TALL places that you would usually have to get a ladder to clean. Corners of the ceiling- tops of the walls. Spider webs BE GONE!

Review: Kenra Platinum Color Care Shampoo, Moisturizing Conditioner & Volume Boosting Spray- Foam

The Shampoo and Conditioner

Did you know that shampoos and conditioners that contain sulfates can harm your hair more than they actually help? They definitely can. WHAT is sulfate? Sulfate IS a cleaning agent, but it WILL strip down your natural hair oils causing split ends, hair loss, irritation, dry brittle hair that may break off.

Sulfates are found in TONS of cleaning products. Most of them are cleaning products that need to strip grease off floors, engines, cars, and floors. There is NO way that I want to wash my hair with something like that after hearing about it.

Do you want damaged hair just from shampooing it? I don’t, that’s the reason I have been researching and bringing you ladies (AND gentlemen) sulfate and chemical free shampoos and hair products this year. HEY we all want healthy hair.

Sulfate-free shampoo and Mango Butter Moisturizing Conditioner

First off- The bottles! They are SO brilliantly made. Platinum? WHY YES! These bottles add a certain class and sophistication to my bathroom that wasn’t there before. When people come over and happen to ask to use my bathroom, they always come out with the same question- “WHERE did you get those bottles? So I tell them (OF course). People are attracted to sophistication and beauty.

Secondly, the bottles are extremely easy to use. The shampoo and conditioner both have a top that you just turn right to get the product to come out. There is no flipping the bottle and banging it upside down on the side of the tub to make it come out. It’s just SO easy for the product to slide right into my hand. (Which is a bonus) I don’t want to fight with the bottles.

Now for the actual product. They smell amazing. It is a mixture of a fresh garden fragrance with a hint of passion fruit, melon, and Kiwi. SO absolutely YUMMY. When I wash my hair with these, I can’t seem to keep myself from smelling my own hair from time to time (I actually wish I had a perfume or lotion that smelled like this)

For the texture- Pure luxury in a bottle. I feel like I am rubbing tiny smashed up pearls into my hair. It is silky, smooth, and creamy. They are thick, rich, and amazing, Not to mention the shampoo gives me major volume. Although my hair is long, it isn’t very thick. I have looked for a great plumping shampoo forever and finally found one. Volume problems NO MORE!

As I am rubbing these into my hair- I give them a minute for my hair to soak them up before I wash them out. They make my hair more manageable (and I have LONNNNNG hair). The shampoo lathers up but not TONS like the shampoos that contain sodium laurel sulfate, which is what strips the hair. It’s easy to wash out because it soaks in rather than stays on top of the hair cuticle. So I don’t have to rinse my hair forever before applying the conditioner.

The conditioner is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G. As I blow-dry my hair, I can instantly tell how smooth, silky, and frizz free it is going to be. My hair is tangle-free and stays that way ALL day! I don’t have to end up sticking my hair into a hair tie because I can’t take the frizziness anymore. As it starts to dry- I could just SEE my hair turning  sleek, shiny, and not to mention beautiful- no more hiding under hair ties and scrunchies!

The platinum line of Kenra Products also are color care safe. Know how after a few weeks of dying your hair that it seems to start fading and getting lighter? Now you don’t have to worry about that. I dyed my hair darker because I love what it does to my complexion, and I wanted it to stay that way. I didn’t want it to lighten and fade, so I’d have to get it re-done quicker than I wanted to. The Kenra Shampoo and Conditioner have helped to keep my hair the vibrant beautiful color I wanted it to be!

For the past 3-4 weeks, I have also noticed that my dandruff has disappeared. I usually have a dry, itchy, flaky scalp. I’d tried everything to get rid of the flakiness with no help. Zinc shampoos never helped, and neither did anything else. Because of the amount of protein in this shampoo and the mango in the conditioner- it has naturally moisturized my scalp keeping it from drying up and flaking off!

You don’t need much of either of these to get the job done. Because they don’t lather up to make giant bubbles out of your head- you don’t have to smother your hair in the products to get them to work. I use about a nickel size of each and they work perfectly and my hair is far down my back.

The Boosting Spray Foam

  Volume? Did I just hear you say that you need volume? Well, look no further my friends- for I have found just what you need to get extreme volume without weighing your hair down or making it look like you fell in a grease pit.

For use of the Boosting Spray Foam you spray this on damp hair and blow-dry. If you want major volume, blow-dry with a round brush for optimal results! I’ve done both and am EXTREMELY pleased with the results.

My hair went from long and fine- to long and voluminous. This isn’t a hair-spray, although it does have a hold of 17/25. So it isn’t going to make your hair stiff or unable to run your fingers through it. You can still shake your head and your hair WILL move unlike hair sprays- but it will hold a style if you want it to. I dislike hairspray because I don’t want my hair plastered to my head! I want my hair to look as natural as I can make it look!

The reason this can give you a hold without it being stiff is because it’s made with a very unique resin base. Most hair sprays are made with alcohol, AND contain chemicals. So this is far better for MANY reasons.

Not only are you getting volume, but you’re getting extreme flexibility. It is also a 3-in-1 product! Not only does it give you flexible volume but it protects your hair from heat damage (styling tools) and humidity. SO BRING IT ON!

A trick I’ve learned (for a root booster) is to lightly spray on the roots while they are damp and then blow dry. Then after they are dry- flip head over and spray on the roots again, very lightly, then blow dry on a the low heat setting on the dryer. MAJOR root volume!

If you’re a flathead- what do you have to lose? I’ve also noticed that it helped my hair hold a curl way longer than normal. If you use it before blow-drying it, and then lightly again before curling it. It helps with the time ( you don’t have to hold the iron on for very long) AND it helps set the curls. Then lightly spray again!

So- ALL three of these products are amazing, high quality, great for your hair products! I love the smell and feel of the shampoos and conditioners. I love how the spray is more like a spritz then a spray. I love how they all continuously work to protect and help my hair. Making me FEEL amazing!

Book Review: 365- A Daily Creative Journal by Noah Scalin

Day 79 of Countdown to Christmas Holiday Gift Guide

There are absolutely no rules when it comes to 365 A Daily Creativity Journal: Make Something Every Day and Change Your Life! The point is to explore all inspiration with a variety of tools and mediums. Because there are no rules, you can read this book page by page, or you can randomly skip around if you want.
The point is to get the inspiration that your brain is so desperately asking for, so that you can create either what needs to be created or what you WANT to create. A daily project is all about what you want, the rules and goals you make for yourself, and your desire to create.
I love this authors work and the inspiration he has given me as a creator himself. He isn’t forcing you to do anything but gives such creative, inspiring ideas  that you may end up creating MORE than just ONE project a day. This book also provides a journal so that you can keep track of your ideas.
This isn’t a read once and put down book. This is a creative person’s BIBLE. This is something that should travel with you into the world along with a notebook and pen. This book teaches you to see the world as a canvas with unlimited possibilities as to what to do with that canvas.
One day you may look at one of the ideas and create something, then a week later looking at the same idea- you may come up with something totally different. That’s what I love about this book! UNLIMITED possibilities, Continuing inspiration, and the know how to get where I need to be.
As a writer and a crafter- this book has been priceless the last couple of weeks. No matter what line of work you do or want to do- as long as you need inspiration in your line of work, this book is for you!
You aren’t made to follow the ideas exactly word for word, he gives the option of changing it up and making it up- he just gives that extra something that is needed at times to get your brain back into the flow of things.
I’d always wanted to do a 365, actually since I started blogging. I’d seen so many that I wanted to do. I’d start, remain active for a month- then lose the will to continue on. That meant I’d drop off the creative map completely. I’d tell myself I didn’t really have the time, or I’d lose inspiration.
But it’s like this- A 365 can take as little time or as long as you want it to. It is YOUR 365- totally up to you. You don’t have to keep up with all the others, just keep up with yourself, and this is what I needed to tell myself.
Don’t let the commitment of a year long project scare you out of doing it. IT can be done. TONS of people do. You just need to relax, have fun with it, and BUY THIS BOOK. I love it.
Not only does the front title mock a real composition book (so it’s humorous) but the inside of the book is colorful, eye catching, and totally fun!
Here are some of the days of the 365 that I’ve created. *Please note that these aren’t in order of the days in the book* I’ve skipped around to give you guys a look at what’s inside this genius book!
Day 1:
The first step is the hardest, so start small today and make something that fits in the palm of your hand using only materials in your immediate environment.


Day 40:
What can you do with yarn? You don’t have to know how to knit or crochet, you can try yarn painting or just experiment.

Day 91: Use coffee beans, dry or wet coffee grounds, or even liquid coffee (in a cup or not) to create something today.'

See these aren’t hard. AND they don’t require LONG detailed thought out process of something (well.. unless you want them to of course) This is totally up to you and what you can create with these things.
I love the way that this book is laid out. It has 2 days on each page. In between those days is space for you to write down what you did or thought processes. Or you could just take a picture of what you made that day and paste it in the spot!

I think it would be AWESOME to start out on page 1 and end on page 365 and have other bloggers do this as well. We could all compare and contrast our thought process. Because it doesn’t matter what has been written for that day- everybody is going to come up with something totally different.
In the back of the book is even more goodies! Those goodies happen to be recipes for Papier Mache, Quilling, Pop-ups, Pinata, and Baker’s Clay. So he doesn’t only provide the inspiration, he is also providing the ingredients to get that inspiration started!
Noah has totally kicked the fear out of me! I am no longer afraid that I can’t commit to something EVERY single day of the year and make it something that I would actually like a year from now. I love everything about this book.! I just wish I had discovered it earlier! Noah is an amazing inspiration, a great author, and an amazing person.
This would be an amazing stocking stuffer or gift for someone you know that is creative. Whether they may be a writer, a crafter, or just someone who likes to create.. They will truly enjoy this book!

Review & Giveaway: Green Grab Bag

Things have been extremely hectic over here. Since my son has started Kindergarten- there have been tons of problems for him. He is having trouble learning. They think he may be dyslexic and/or have ADHD.
They’ve put him in speech therapy as well as a “reading helper” group- where another teacher comes and gets him and takes him to a separate room to teach him 1 on 1.

Scrubz Natural Skin Care Lipz Shea Butter Lip Balm (Chocolate Kiss):

This is another amazing moisturizing product! I’ve had dry, chapped lips for the past several weeks. This has really calmed them down and rehydrated them.
They needed it extremely bad. This has an amazing scent as well. It smells just like a chocolate fondue or candy bar. YUM. It has no taste, which is perfect because if it did- I’m pretty sure I might just eat one of my lips (or maybe both) because it smells absolutely scrumptious!
You only need a very small amount to make this spread across both lips. It not only hydrates the lips but it has vitamins in it to help HEAL>
All the ingredients are right on the top of the lid; Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Canola, Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Supreme, Soybean and Vitamin E.
All of these ingredients work extremely well together to bring an irresistable lip butter!
Tierra Mia Organics Raw Goat Milk Soap (Rosemary Lavender):

This has no sulfates, parabens, or Chemical Preservatives. It is gluten free- so it’s great for even sensitive skin!
Not only have I been using this, I’ve been using this on the kids as well. It’s very moisturizing unlike most bar soaps. I don’t usually use bar soaps because they leave my skin dry and itchy. I’m usually more of a body wash kind of girl, but I;m glad I gave this one a chance.
This has beneficial ingredients to help sooth eczema and dry skin. So on top of it helping and rehydrating skin it also smells amazing. The rosemary and lavender mix together to make a beautiful, relaxing scent.
Emtage Hair SILKtage Rejuvenating Serum

This is SO naturally healing and extremely great for dry, damaged hair. After the FIRST use, my hair felt smoother and was easier to manage. There is no silicone or chemicals inside this oil, which makes it EVEN better.
Not only did this help with my split ends, but it added volume to my fine hair when used as a before shampoo treatment. My hair was never weighed down or sticky like most healing oils. My head usually itches from dry scalp, and no matter what dandruff shampoo I use: I still get that pricky pokey feeling sometimes. This has definitely restored the moisture to my scalp AND my hair!
Moody Sisters Organic Eye Cream:

The story behind The Moody Sisters is what caught my eye the most about this. It is so interesting and alluring. The younger sister had severe allergic reactions to commercial face wash, deodorant, and other skin care products. It even ended up sending her to the hospital on occasion.
She turned to her sister and they both began making their own. They did this until they perfected their craft and began sharing it with others.
This eye cream is loaded with essential oils and vitamins, so it easily soaks into my skin to help with the circles, puffiness, and bags!

Review: Dentyne Split2Fit Gum #bzzagent

College Textbook Rentals

When you’re in college money is already tight. Buying textbooks that you’re only going to use for one class can be pretty expensive. Unless you want to keep the book, you’re going to want to re-sell it right?

The textbooks I bought when I was in college got me about a quarter of what I actually paid for them. These companies would try and get me to take their offer of something ridiculously low. I’m pretty sure I’d rather keep a book then sell it back for less than 25% of what I paid for it.

Now you don’t have to worry about buying, reselling, and accepting extremely low prices. Campus Book Rentals now allows you to RENT your textbook and then return it when your class is over.

Psychology is still one of my favorite subjects. I would probably rent some just to learn more about the amazing mind. Abnormal Psychology is available for only $19.82 and wouldn’t be due until 12/21. Isn’t that awesome? You can even choose another due date..

Instead of spending $200 for 1 book- just spend $50-60! They even buy textbooks, so if you have any extras laying around that aren’t in use, make you some cash!
