Saving Money This Year

This year on the top of my resolution list was saving as much money as possible, as you can imagine. The more money I save, the more I have to do whatever I want with.

The kids are growing like weeds these days, mostly Adisyn. She seems to be getting a growth spurt. Clothes just seem to shrink on her. If you have kids, you know what I mean. Clothes that she hasn’t had very long at all are too short for her. So cranking out a ton of money for clothes that she’s not going to be able to wear a couple months from now isn’t an option.

When I can find a deal on clothes for her, it saves me money to spend elsewhere- such as clothes for the entire family and stuff we need. More bang for the buck. PriceGrabber has tons of kids clothing AND some very beautiful dresses.

This leaves tons of options available for both my kids birthdays that are coming up (which we usually celebrate together). Adisyn turns 4 and Aidan will be 6… so they want lots of toys (naturally).
This is the first year that there will actually be tons of little kids at the party. Aidan started Kindergarten this year, so he wants his friends to come. I want to get little favor bags- and of course have to buy boy AND girl decorations, cakes, and party favors as well as gifs for the kids.

Saving money in other ways (such as clothes and shoes) will help me pay for the party that the kids want. I don’t want to have to disappoint the kids just because they are growing too fast. Price Grabber has tons of deals on just about everything. From clothes for kids, women, and men to electronics like phones, laptops, and tablets.

What would YOU like to save money on this year?

Book Review: 200 crochet Flowers, Embellishments & Trims by claire crompton; F&W Media international

image

Every since I was a little girl, crochet has been a part of my life. I was given some really cool crocheted pieces that my great-grandmother had made. She made anything and everything; blankets, animals, and doilies. I loved how amazing the pieces looked and always wondered how to do it myself.

As I got older, I noticed that my Aunt had picked up Crochet hooks and was well experienced at making cute baby blankets, booties, hats, and scarves. I wanted to learn too. So, 3 years ago- I began teaching myself.

I am not experienced by any means. I have other things that take up my time and I wasn’t able to complete BIG projects that I started—so only small projects were completed on my crochet to-do list. I never really learned how to read crochet patterns because I was afraid and just a beginner.

When I got a chance to review the book 200 Crochet Flowers, Embellishments, and Trims by Claire Crompton I was ecstatic. This meant that I could do some little projects and begin reading crochet patterns..

So last weekend I spent the entire weekend reading this book- brushing up on the different stitches and teaching myself how to read the patterns without getting frazzled. I have to admit—I had SO much fun.

WP_001203

I began making some of the different flowers that they had in the book. The patterns were easy to read, easy to follow, and very easy to get done. It is amazing how great it feels to take a ball of yarn and complete something so beautiful (yet not SO time consuming) at the beginning.

As I got comfortable making the flowers and reading the patterns—I flipped to the back of the book where the different crochet fabrics were. They had so many different patterns that I’d never seen or heard of before.. They were also easy to follow and fun to make.

WP_001205WP_001206

I started making washcloths for face washing, scarves with all the beautiful elegant stitches that they have, and even belts. I don’t think there has been a day since getting this book that I haven’t been sitting down and putting it to good use.

WP_001200WP_001204

Not only has this book inspired me to re-start something that I loved doing, just couldn’t find the time to do—but it helped me learn how to read the patterns (both written and drawn) which was extremely hard for me before.

WP_001198

This is another scarf that I made from the instructions in the book. This is a beautiful shell stitch—so I made it into an airy open lace like scarf. It is absolutely stunning and I plan on giving it to my sister for her birthday.! It feels nice to create something out of just a ball of yarn. Something that I can be proud to say that I made!!

WP_001230

This book is absolutely amazing. I love that they have all the instructions in the front so that even a beginner can enjoy the book. (It isn’t just for advanced know-how crocheters). It also has detailed descriptions of the different types of yarn and what each type of yarn would be best for.

It also has very elegant edging and braids that can be added to blankets, shirts, or just about anything to make it more beautiful. I haven’t made any of these yet- but when I do—I’ll be sure to post them for you to see.

BUY IT: You can buy the 200 Crochet Flowers, Embellishments, & Trims book for $14.71

Book Review: Use Your Words- A Writing Guide for Mothers by Kate Hopper; Viva Editions

image

As a mother AND a writer I was very blessed to be able to review the book Use Your Words: A Writing Guide for Mothers. Many birth stories aren’t the way they are supposed to be, not the way we secretly wished and hoped they would have turned out.

My first pregnancy was an amazing example of that. Being 6 months pregnant with pain beginning in my back at 24 weeks, I thought it was just my kidney infection. As it progressed to my stomach with the clenching I became worried.

I called my OB-GYN, who wasn’t in the office at the time—the message said for me to call the hospital where she was on call. I did just that. I still didn’t get the chance to talk to my OB-GYN, but I did get to talk to a Doctor who said it was either Braxton Hicks or REAL labor. I had to go in immediately to see what was going on.

As I arrived at the hospital, they began checking me for signs that my pain was coming from my kidney infection. I was there quite a while when they asked me if they could check me for dilation. After 20 MORE painful minutes, they came In and told me that I was indeed dilated 2 cm and they were going to have to ship me to a larger city.

As they began telling me that my baby was coming—I was absolutely stunned. How could this happen to me? I don’t even know anyone that’s ever had a premature baby. Is this my fault? Is he going to live? What is going to happen?

They hooked me up to an IV and began pumping me me with Magnesium, which is supposed to help calm contractions and keep the baby from coming. They also had given me a shot of steroids in case the baby DID come his lungs would be a little bit stronger.

I was very scared. Adam was at work 45 minutes away and the only person with me at the time was my mom. I texted Adam at work and let him know that they were flying me more than an hour away to a hospital with a NICU.

They wouldn’t let anyone in the helicopter with me.. so it was just me and my excessive worries. The helicopter’s nurse told me to tell her when I was having contractions. I couldn’t though- they were coming every MINUTE. So I gritted my teeth and waited to land.

As we arrived—they took me straight to a room and began checking me for dilation again. This time they scared me HORRIBLY bad. They told me that he was coming out breech and I was dilated 10 (which is ALL the way). They couldn’t wait for anyone to get there and be with me.. I was rushed into surgery.

I didn’t plan for any of this to  happen to me—yet it did. This is Aidan’s birth story and it forever changed my life. Beginning life at 24 weeks wasn’t his plan either- but it happened. Through the next 16 weeks in the NICU were some of the hardest times in my life for myself and my tiny little baby.

It was super frightening to see a baby born at 1 pound 13 ounces and only 12 1/2 inches long. He was EXTREMELY small, couldn’t be held, and his EYES were still fused shut. It made me realize how grateful we have to be for what we have in our life. It made me realize what kind of mom I wanted to be and the limits I would push myself to be with my son as much as I could (where he was more than an hour from home).

As time went on, and 3 pound babies were passing away in this lonely little NICU, I become VERY worried. I would do everything I can to be there as much as possible. Aidan’s night nurse became my best friend at this time. She knew how hard a time I was having leaving him. YET- I didn’t have the fund (place to stay, money to eat on, or a place to shower) while I was up there. So she acted as his second mom and took care of him while I was at home at work.

Now I look back on those days and wish I had written everything down in a journal. Although most of it is embedded in my brain for life—the little details are lost to me. I don’t know exact dates of stuff that I wish I did. I wish I had written it down for HIM as well as myself.

The days seemed never-ending yet flew by at the same time. It was heartbreaking to leave him, and even more heartbreaking to go home every time without him in my arms. I would call every hour on the hour checking on him when I couldn’t be there.. 3 1/2 months felt like an entire year.

I want him to look back and SEE how far he has come. How proud I am that he was such a fighter. I wish he knew how many times I prayed that everything would turn out right. How many nights I spent crying because I didn’t have the money to go up there daily even though I was working as much as I could possibly work while seeing him as well.

Everything just rushes at me. When I got a chance to review this book, I knew I wanted to help the cause. When your baby is young (or you’re pregnant) especially with your first child—writing may not seem something that you’re sure of. Pictures in the baby book- of course.. But what if they could look back and see the way we seen THEM? To see and feel the love that a mother has for her child?

This book means a lot to me and I love that they are helping women find their writing voice. I know some writers may not feel like “MOM writing” is an actual piece of work. I KNOW it is. I know that this is the most important time in your life and should be documented.

This book helps to find that purpose, helps gets those words out, and helps with writing exercises. This not only helps find your “MOM voice” but your “writing voice” as well.

I love that it not only has the writing exercises, but it also contains writing pieces as well. I love having examples and reading others work before beginning my own. This helps me to gain some kind of ground before writing. Helps me get a feel of WHAT I want to write before writing. This is the how-to writing guide that should come in every moms first diaper bag.

Everything in this book is inspiring and it is an absolute MUST have book. Whether you’re pregnant; have a newborn, toddler, school aged child, or your children have already left the nest. Leave them more than just baby pictures.. leave them their history- their story!

Mens Tungsten Wedding Bands

image

When Adam and I reached our 7 year anniversary we started browsing around for the best rings on the market. We didn’t really have a ton of money to spend- so affordable was on the checklist as well.

I wanted to get him something unique. I didn’t want him just wearing a simple gold band—he works outside all day and it would either end up bent, broken, or lost.

When I seen the website Tungsten I knew that this would be the spot. Mens tungsten wedding bands are super durable, they are the perfect combination of form and function. They were just what I was looking for.

image

Men’s tungsten wedding bands are unique in their styling because they are made with tungsten carbide which is scratch resistant . This means that I wouldn’t have to worry about his band bending when and if he decided to wear it to work.

These are perfect for showing everlasting love because they include a lifetime warranty. This is amazing.. no matter what happens to it—it can be replaced. I don’t know how many times I’ve wondered what would happen if we spent a ton of money on a ring and then he lost or broke it.

Most of these rings are under $200 AND have a warranty. SO not only are they cheap, they can be replaced. I love that! They also have free 2-3 day shipping from the day the order is placed. If that isn’t fast, I don’t know what is.

It also comes with a wood box, bag, and 45 day replacement through the website. I’d never heard of Tungsten before now, but I wish I had known about when I was picking out MY ring. I would really have liked the option of having a replacement AND scratch free band.

If you are on the lookout for a Wedding band for your man this year—now is the perfect time to do so. They are having a $35 off sale right now.

Review: Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate with Vitamin C

image

If you've ever had a urinary tract infection, you know how irritating and painful it can be. There was nothing that I wanted more than relief from the pain. UTI’s are caused by bacteria and the bladder and urethra are most likely to become infected. Click here to see more causes of UTI’s.

How do you know if you have an UTI? Here are the signs and symptoms

Signs and Symptoms

  • Frequent or painful urination
  • Pain or pressure when urinating
  • Not completing urination
  • Cloudy/ Foul Smelling urine
  • Blood present in urine
  • Leaking urine
  • Fever
  • Pain or pressure in your lower abdomen (stomach).

Before I learned of the Lady Soma Cranberry Concentrate with Vitamin C, I would always have to go and get a round of antibiotics. When you don’t really have the money to go to the doctor and then pay for the antibiotics- because it can be pricey, Lady Soma is the best thing for treatment.

Just one pill a day can give you relief. The best thing about it is that 60 softgels of the Cranberry concentrate is under $13. That is WAY worth it. No more $50 co-pays for the doctor and $40-50 more for the antibiotics.

Taking one pill a day can also banish the bacteria that MAY be growing so that you don’t even have to bother with the pain. So if you feel it coming it on- just take one pill a day with a glass of water (OR one pill in the morning and one at night with a glass of water for intense treatment).

AND you’ll be feeling better in no time.

ABOUT THE LADY SOMA CRANBERRY CONCENTRATE WITH VITAMIN C

Each soft gel capsule is made with a 12:1 concentrate, which is equivalent to 5,050 milligrams of fresh cranberries.  Fortified with Vitamin C and Natural E.  Cranberries prevent bacteria from attaching to the bladder wall, promoting a healthy urinary tract.  May be taken as daily supplement.

Key Benefits

  • Healthy Urinary Tract
  • Inhibits bacteria
  • Treats and prevents bacterial infections
  • Promoting kidney health
Directions:
  • For regular use: take one capsule daily.
  • For intensive use: Take two capsules daily, in morning & night.
  • For best results, all usage should be taken with an eight ounce glass of water.

Review: Eco Nuts Natural Laundry Soap

image

"Thanks for using Eco Nuts- you'd be nuts to use anything else!

Commercial Laundry Soap has so many chemicals inside that it can eventually seep into your skin via your clothes and harm you. I started looking for alternative options I’d say probably a year or so ago.

Eco nuts sent me their 100 load box of soap nuts to test and try on my clothes. There isn’t really anything that could be considered “extremely dirty” within my laundry pile. The things I was hoping to get out were dirt and grass stains from my kids being outside.

imageimage

These are not actually nuts- so there isn’t a risk for an allergic reaction. These are berries that grow in the Himalayas that naturally produces a soap. The soap is called saponin, a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, lifting stains from the fabric and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away.

Eco Nuts are very gentle, so they are perfect for both clothing and skin. If you or someone in the family has sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis this will actually help your skin.

image

There are different brands of soap nuts available, but the Eco Nuts are the highest quality. They only use a certain variety & size and they have the highest cleaning power.

I loved the way that these soap nuts have the ability to gently loosen the fibers in clothing (even towels) to make them fluffier and softer. They don’t SMELL amazing- but they look and feel clean. What more could you ask for? Especially if you’re allergic or are sensitive to fragrances.

The soap also doubles as a fabric softener during the rinse cycle- which means you are saving money on detergent AND fabric softener. When you can reuse and reuse soap nuts WHY would you want to buy regular detergent that has chemicals.

When you think about how much money you’ll save—you’ll definitely be making the switch too!

Iimage

BUY IT: You can buy a Trial Size of Eco Nuts (which is 10 loads) for $3.99

Book Review: Weirder Than Marshmallows by Dan Fogg

image
Incompetence and stupidity is a growing side effect in America (and possibly the world). People are running rampant through the streets thinking they actually know what they are doing.. AND then they run smack dab into a light pole. I am a people watcher by nature and let me tell you I’ve seen some really STUPID stuff happen. Stuff that made me laugh uncontrollably until I thought I might leak a little in my pants.
This is a lot like this book. It’s essays thrown together by the author about stupid stuff he has seen. It makes you ask yourself “what is WRONG with the world?” How in the world could we have accomplished so much in technology, medicine, and science with so many idiots still walking around? Common sense just isn’t so common anymore.
There are some really really funny stories in here. I sat and read the book in just about an hour, so it’s a quick read. This is a great book to keep around when you need a quick pick me up!

H

If you ever just stare at people and think “WHYYYYYYYYYYY?” you’ll absolutely love this book.  Even the title of the book makes you laugh “Weirder than Marshmallows”.
The author has such a unique sense of humor, he takes his insights and puts them into such a funny way. The author passed away before the publishing of the book, and he was disabled. Some of the stories are also heart wrenching (like when he thanks everyone who didn’t know him & who held doors open for him and made his life a little easier.)
BUY IT: You can buy Weirder Than Marshmallows Book of Essays Ebook for $3.99

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Review: Nailene Nails-So Natural Everyday french

image

When I was younger, I loved getting my nails done. I’d save up my money just so I could go to a salon and get my nails done. I absolutely loved the look of acrylic nails, so classy and sophisticated.

As I got older and had kids the extra $30 for nails ended up going to the kids. $30 a visit plus $14 for refills can be pretty expensive keep up. My real nails would end up suffering after they came off too. Brittle, splitting, and cracking. Not to mention they HURT to take off.

WP_001122

These Nailene So Naturals really do look like French Tip Acrylic nails. I love how thick they are, which is what makes them look so real. I have seen and used other false nails that were supposed to resemble acrylic nails and they didn’t come close. The others were really thin, would bend (which acrylic nails don’t), and wasn’t very high quality.

These nails come with 24 different nails, so no matter what size your nails are- there will be a fit for you. They take absolutely no time to get used to. As I am typing with them right now—and I usually can’t type very well with false nails on.

WP_001124

The best part about these nails is that they can be painted over. I wore mine for a week (as natural French tip) and then another with color. I couldn’t believe that they actually held up that long.

These nails come with their own “tabs” which are similar to glue but without the mess. As a mom and a writer the “tabs” don’t hold for very long by themselves. So I applied the tabs to my fingers, peel the plastic piece off, and then apply the nail.

When the nails started feeling loose and wobbly, I apply a brush on glue to the nail bed and reapply the nail. What I really like about the tabs are that they hold on super tight. Even if some nails do come loose- they work awesome with glue. It’s like they suction the nail to the nail bed. It’s better than just using regular glue by itself! Love that they are included in the package..

I’ve used other “tabs” on nails before and they were awful. They didn’t hold on tightly, and they didn’t bode well for long time use. I couldn’t even do my own hair because the tabs on the nails would stick to my hair.

I give these a 10/10. They are very high quality nails, available in a variety of colors, and they stay on for 7+ days. They are available in a wide variety of places, so they are easy to find. They are cheap and look amazing!

Book Review: Make Me I’m Yours…Jewellery; F&W International

image

Summary

Create your own stunning jewellery items from a selection of over 20 diverse necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. Learn various beading and wirework techniques and use your own selection of beads or embellishments for a unique look. Includes projects to suit all styles and abilities, with handy difficulty levels attached to each design.
There are so many fun and inspiring jewelry projects in this book. My mom started making jewelry about 2 years ago, and she let me design a few pieces with her. It was SO much fun. Not only because I was learning a new brand of craft technique but because you get to wear (OR GIVE) these beautiful pieces when you’re done.
imageimage
The table of contents show you that it starts with Vintage pieces then moves on to Vibrant pieces, and ends with Inspiring pieces.
At the back of the book there are techniques. This shows you everything you need to know about beads, findings, string, wires, glues, and more! It’s an amazing book!
image
Starting out as a beginner jewelry making it was extremely helpful to me to have the techniques in the back. It starts out with bead shapes and the different types of beads. Showing the different types of beads and what projects the beads best make.
Then it begins with the different types of findings. Findings are all the little pieces that are generally made of metal. They are used to make and finish jewelry. If you’re a beginner like I am, findings can be extremely confusing at first. This book breaks it down and shows what is needed for what type of jewelry- and what it best.
The String, Wire, and Chain part of this book is also a great help. There are so many different types of strings, chains, and wires that can be made into jewelry. Breaking it down and showing what is what makes it easier to decide what would look best for designing before I begin. It helps me make a decision before actually starting.
Then the tools and glues that are needed before you start your jewelry adventure. I ended up finding all the tools in a jewelry making kit at walmart for $15. They are very high quality too, I love that I found them all together.
image
On making the Jewelry:
I love that it not only explains it in detailed wording, but it also shows every step of the way in pictures. I can’t craft without pictures, because I can’t visualize what to do next without them.
image
The best part about the pictures and step by step instructions is that it is getting you ready to go off on your own (in the jewelry making world). You can take the different pieces and create something totally different than what is shown, just using the same techniques.
For instance- take the necklace in the picture above. Instead of using the neutral colored and metal beads- you could switch this up and use beautifully colored glass beads… it’s all in how you look at it.
This book has really inspired me to make some pretty awesome pieces. If you would like to learn how to make jewelry, know how but want some more inspiration, or know someone who would like to learn—this book is absolutely perfect!

Review: Acure Facial Serum

Acure Organics has done it again. This time with a fabulous Firming Facial Serum. Acure makes nothing but all natural, organic products that greatly benefit the skin.

image

I have oily, acne prone skin so putting a serum on my face made me think I was going to have a HUGE issue. I’m extremely glad I gave it a try though. You don’t apply this to your entire face, just the problem areas.

I didn’t have one breakouts or irritation at all. I mix this with their day cream during the day (under my makeup) to keep my makeup fresh all day. I mix it with the night cream before going to bed, and I wake up with glowing beautiful skin.

The serum itself is  lightweight and feels like pure silk on the skin. Although it is lightweight,  It does give the skin a bit of sheen if you aren’t going to add anything over it (such as makeup or at least a powder).

It includes nutrients that heal and rejuvenates the skin, as well as antioxidants to combat aging, free radicals, and cell damage. It also contains borage oil which helps to calm inflammation.

When I began using the serum I only used it in dry spots on my face, such as around the eyes and mouth. A dab on my forehead (because I tend to get dry skin there). It was an instant miracle serum, the redness was immediately gone and no irritation flared up later.

The oils that are added as ingredients not only help the skin but they smell amazing. There isn’t a “fragrance” added, but the oils combined smell heavenly. I even started using a dab of this mixed with chapstick for my dry chapped lips, and mixed with lotion for my dry legs!

My skin has definitely improved in just the short amount of time that I’ve been using this. Not only is my skin more healthy, but less dry and has a radiant glow that I love. The product is concentrated, so there is WAY more in the bottle than it looks.

There are TONS of helpful ingredients that stem directly from plants. Cranberry, olive oil, rosemary oil, sweet orange oil, argan oil, lavender oil, pumpkin seed oil, safflower oil, and sesame seed oil.

As an animal lover, I love that they NEVER test on animals. They NEVER add in anything harmful either.. so all their products do not contain any sulfates, parabens, silicone, and petroleum derived chemicals and oils.

Art$ and Craft$

Kids love doing arts and crafts. Art supply companies love charging through the nose for the materials that you need to supply for your kids to do those arts and crafts. Luckily there are things that you can do to make sure that your arts and crafts budget goes as far as possible all year long.

Start a stockpile of arts and crafts supplies. It’s okay to use your credit cards to help fund this initial stockpiling of paints, paper, etc. Check around to find out where the best prices in town are offered and then go to town to help build up the things you know that you are going to need to have on hand all of the time, like construction paper, watercolors, crayons, etc.

Set up a savings account for the more extensive arts and crafts projects (or times of year when these types of projects happen more often, like the winter holidays). Compare savings account rates to ensure that you get a really great rate on the money that you squirrel away. This way your money will earn money and you’ll have more on hand when your kids set their sights on a project that needs a lot of very specific (and rarely cheap) materials.

Raid the sales. Back to school sales are a fantastic time to really stock up on the basic things at really great prices. For the best deals, wait until the first week of September. This is when the stores get desperate to get rid of all of the supplies they stockpiled (but that didn’t sell in time) in order to make room for the Halloween stuff.  Colored pencils, markers, crayons, drawing paper, construction paper, erasers, etc…all of them go on super sale at this time and you can get as much as three times the amount of products for what you’d normally pay at any other time during the year.

If you like having high quality materials on hand, buy them in smaller amounts over time, whether or not you actually need them. For example, if you buy your markers individually, always buy a black marker with whatever color you went into the art shop to buy. You go through black markers more than any other and this way you’ll build up a good stash of them.  Another example of this is simply tossing a packet of construction paper or stencil set in your shopping cart when you go grocery shopping.

Buy specific supplies in the off season. Buy Christmas cookie cutters in January. Buy the heart shaped stencils and rubber stamps in March. This way you save money and you’ll already have them on hand when the holiday rolls around again so you won’t have to worry about dealing with the crowds or hiked up prices that come with buying in-season supplies.

These are just some of the things that you can do to save money on your arts and crafts supplies. Put them to use and see how far your budget can stretch!

Review: Roxsee Jewelry Organizer

imageimage
It has always been very hard for me to keep my jewelry organized. I’ve tried my hardest, it just wouldn’t work out so well. My necklaces would end up in my jewelry box or hanging on my wall.. they’d become twisted and almost near impossible to untangle.
My rings were the easiest thing to keep track of, but my several of my earrings would somehow end up missing just when I needed it most. It was very frustrating and would take me forever it seemed to get ready.
When I got a chance to review the Roxsee jewelry Organizer from Untangle My Chains, I was excited. Finally a way to store and organize all my jewelry in one spot. No more lost earrings or tangled necklaces.
WP_001101
Not only is it pretty but it’s practical. This hanging jewelry organizer has 400 earring holes, 16 sturdy hooks and 5 posts to hang rings. Can also be used for scarves, belts, hair accessories and more! It looks amazing in my room!
I was super impressed at how much jewelry this hanger can hold. Mine is now hanging on my bedroom wall beside my makeup. Now I can get ready in just a short amount of time. I’m not wasting time looking for a piece of jewelry or an accessory!

clip_image001
I love that the metal hanger at the top rotates. This makes it easy to hang on a wall, in a closet, or over the door. This is absolutely perfect for someone in college, someone who lives in a small space, or someone who just needs to be more organized.

Review: The Palm Gifts- Monogrammed Gifts

image

I am so in love with personalized gifts. There is really nothing like adding a personal touch to everyday items. They are the best thing you can give and receive.

The difficulty getting the perfect personalized products is that they can be a bit pricey on the pocket. Having so many people to think about throughout the year is always on my mind. That’s the reason that I try and start shopping right after Christmas. That way I don’t have to think about everything RIGHT before Christmas.

Buying something inexpensive yet classy is always on my list. When I can find something so amazing yet doesn’t break the bank is right up my alley. The Palm Gifts has everything you could ever want in a monogrammed item.

They sent me 2 items for review, and I loved both of them. They sent me their Preppy Monogrammed Cosmetic Bag and their Soft Cashmere Feel Monogrammed Scarves.

The Cosmetic Bag

I loved that they had so many color options available for both the bag and the ribbon that come on the bag. I ended up getting my absolute favorite color of course; lime green for the bag base. Then for the monogram I ended up getting a light blue with a light blue ribbon and lime green dots.

With this you can choose to add your entire name, initial, or initials. I chose to do my initials JRB. I love how they do it J B R with the B being more prominent. I even got to choose the font of the monogram, which I love.

When it came in the mail it was packaged so beautifully. It was wrapped in plastic to keep it safe in case the package got wet. The plastic was wrapped with blue and green ribbon (matching the cosmetic bag), and The Palm Gift card at the top. It was true beauty in a bag.! I loved it!!

The quality of this bag for the price (under $20) was simply amazing. The letters are on the bag absolutely perfect. There are no stitches messed up or peeling. Everything was and still is gorgeous.

The inside of the bag feels plastic coated, so that in case your makeup spills it won’t ruin your bag. All you have to do is wash it out with a warm soapy washcloth and it’s like new. There is an inside pocket to store a small mirror or something. It zips all the way around so there isn’t room for anything to fall out.

It is the perfect size to put in a suitcase or duffle bag for on the go. I loved te bag!

The Scarf

I was looking for a scarf that wasn’t only warm but pretty as well. I loved this one from the very beginning. It came wrapped in plastic wrap for protection and green/black ribbons across the top. I love how they wrap everything with ribbons that match the color of the product! SO unique and such an amazing gift to give.

I immediately took this out of the package and wrapped it around myself. It was so soft and cuddly, did I mention warm? I loved how warm it was! It goes so well with every single thing I wear. It looks amazing with casual wear (i.e. jeans, boots, and a hoodie) and it looks amazing with dresses or office clothing. Can’t beat that.

I had to choose black with the lime green lettering, of course! I couldn’t have been more happy with the quality if it were wrapped in a million bucks! It feels so amazingly soft around my neck and keeps me warm when I wait for my son to get off the bus in the afternoons.
