Here I am @ 1am

Here I am awake at 1:00 in the morning. My entire family is asleep. This is the only time I get to myself. Usually kids are running crazy, trying to destroy the house.

So here I am- Dora’s still on in the background. “Backpack, backpack” how those songs stick with me. But Adisyn loves it..

Drinking coffee, trying to organize my files, which isn’t a pretty site. Adam is always telling me I’m such a pack-rat. It’s true, I admit it. I am such a sucker for keeping stuff, and somehow managing to get more stuff on top of that. I don’t know why-  I just do.

I wish I had some organizing furniture I really do. It would make my life so much easier. Since I live in an apartment though, space is very limited. I have a 3 bedroom, and every room and closet is crammed with stuff. Not like THROWN in there, it’s stacked neatly, but still.

I did a review for CSN stores last year, and thought I was going to be reviewing a filing cabinet (a rotating one) when what I really got what was an insert for someone who already has one..

ugh!

I am really hoping to gain some more followers and get people interested in my blog again. People were loving me last year, but when my laptop tore up.. it wrecked that.

But I’m back and offering guest posts for someone who would like to post a craft tutorial or something to the sort. It can already be posted somewhere else, as long as it’s a tutorial..

I am going to be receiving a bunch of products this week and could use some comment love when it comes to these giveaways,

I’ve noticed that since I have been trying to catch up on reviews, I haven’t been able to update much on life and my kids.

Aidan has been in headstart, but it seems like he is out of school more than he is in. Where he was premature, he catches stuff so easily..

So needless-to-say, Adi’s been sick too. He catches it there, and then brings it back to her. I really need to schedule flu shots this week.

Adisyn is getting so big and so smart. It amazes me what a 2 year old can learn. She tries to count. She gets some of them right. I’m going to start working with her more on stuff. Headstart wants her to start in Feb.

I wrecked my trailblazer. It was in town, and I wasn’t going that fast, but my blazer is still crunched up in the front. We had just paid it off. We went to a buy here pay here lot in Bowling Green and got it. We paid $4000 for it, and with the damages from the wreck the insurance place settled for $2600. So all in all, I didn’t pay that much for it, and I’m still driving it.

We hooked a tow strap to the bumper and pulled it away from the tires. If I can remember, I’ll post the police report on here tomorrow. I have so much to get done though, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get to it. Laundry is  a must, even though I hate the laundry mat.

We had a rental car for a week. We got a Chevy HHR. Have you seen one?

Chevrolet HHR 2LT in Silver Ice Metallic shown with the standard Bright Chrome Appearance Package.

32/mpg… is that awesome or what? I loved it and wished I could’ve had one. It drives so smooth, and was big enough to accommodate my SUV neediness.

But..I feel the caffeine starting to wear off, and I still have to clean up my mess.. so I’ll get back at you guys tomorrow..

Sponsored Tweets: Make Money on Twitter

image

You’ve all heard the sayings that you can make money off twitter. I searched and searched..

I came up with a bunch of websites wanting me to pay THEM to HELP me earn money. I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure they were all scams.

But YOU can earn money off twitter. Your not going to be a twitter millionaire or anything, but you will earn some dollars and change in your pocket. It adds up..

So,

if you already own a twitter account..

Go to sponsored tweets and sign up. You get paid based on how many twitter followers you have.

I have 300 and something, and I get paid usually .37 a tweet. I just transferred $3.17 into my account.

I’m not saying your gonna make big money, but it’s better than trying all those scams, and it only takes seconds of your time. Sponsored tweets has an amazing interface that connects with your twitter account, and automatically updates your twitter account with the tweet you just made. So it’s not copy and paste, and leave you in the dark. It’s just easy money for a very short amount of time.

Product Review/Giveaway- KAMsnaps

{Double Click Post so you can enter giveaway w/ rafflecopter}
As a crafter, I hated sewing velcro on every single thing I wanted to attach together. I mean, yes- it IS durable and DOES hold it together, but wouldn’t it be much easier if you could use SNAPS? The velcro doesn’t last for very long, maybe 6m-1 year at the most. Hairs and fibers get stuck in the velcro.
When you’re a crafter, and your making products you want to sell- you wouldn’t want them to have something to suggest inadequacy on your part. You’re only going to want the best, whether it be the fabric- or it’s closure.
So would that be KAMSNAPS?
Most definitely.
When using KAMSNAPS, you get the snaps and the presser (& tools to fix your presser).

  • A set of Pliers for plastic snaps. Set comes with pliers, small screw driver, awl (the pokey thing), 4 cap dies (the 3 black things) to fit a variety of plastic snap sizes, including size 14, 16, 20, and star, and 2 top metal rods
  • Size 20 snap sets. You can order 2 sets of 100 each (200 sets total) for 25% off regular price if you order them with your pliers. I got the lime green snaps.
  • Free shipping over $28.
By the time I got the KAMSnaps, my son and daughter were already in pull ups, so I just decided to Make a bunch of make-up bags and such with these snaps as holders.
You can see the color chart below..

A close up of the snap
standardsnaps-thumbnail

How they go together,,

At first- I kept squeezing the pliers too hard on the snaps and it was bending the prongs. I had to use just enough strength to put it through, but yet not enough to damage the snap. I like these. I definitely loved using these as closures for whatever I am making at the time. They bring out the cuteness in a fabric. You can use same color, or contrasting color snaps to get a different effect.
I have since used KamSnaps for many different projects, and think that most crafters will switch once they hear about these. They are plastic, about the size of a dime, and very easy to use. It beats having to sew velcro on to make something stay shut.
Would I recommend these to you?
Yes, I would.
KAMsnaps.com also offers:

Bodycology Review

I received Coconut-Lime Body Cream from Bodycology last year. I couldn't write the review then, because my power surged and killed my laptop. So here I have for you the review I couldn't write.

    clip_image001

    Coconut Lime Body Cream

    Uplifting

The sweet scent of coconut mingles with refreshing lime to help relieve stress and tension – like a tropical island getaway.

For Daily Rejuvenation: Smooth over skin, giving special care to dry or rough areas such as hands, elbows, knees and heels – for softening that feels like blissful indulgence.

    Beneficial Ingredients:

Moisturizing Aloe Vera, Shea Butter and Nourishing Vitamins E & C.

Bodycology is awesome. How awesome? VERY.

The lotion I received made me feel like a pampered queen, and guess what? The products are cheap! So for a mom, this is amazing. Very good quality for a cheap price.

It smelled AWESOME. I had never experienced the smell of Coconut-lime before, until Bodycology. I didn't know what to expect, but after smelling it- I fell in love- DEEP DEEP LOVE.

It was thick, but not greasy. Smell-good but not overpowering. The added Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, and Vitamins made my skin feel so silky and soft.

I have a skin disease called Keratosis pilaris (KP, also follicular keratosis).. It makes my skin kind of look like chicken skin..

    clip_image002

Mine isn't this bad. I searched this on the net, and found this pic. But it's caused by jeans or clothes rubbing off hair follicles. I was told to use A LOT of body cream. I couldn't find any body cream that wasn't oily and greasy until Bodycology. I had tried many different creams in ranges of prices, and still Bodycology is my absolute favorite. It sinks in, doesn't stay on top of your skin, and the moisture STAYS in, and lasts all day. Most other creams I tried, I'd have to wait what seemed like a lifetime for it to dry before I could put my clothes on- because my clothes would STICK to me. How can you pass on something that feels so good, smells so good, and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg? I can't. Being a mom means being beautiful on a budget. I can't go out and spend hundreds on a beauty product when I have kids to take care of.

Bodycology products smell and feel just like Bath & Body Works, but isn't as high priced. I think it's an amazing deal. Would I recommend this to you? Most definitely.

On top of that. They offer a variety of other things. You could get anti-bacterial scrubbing soap..

    clip_image003

    Foaming hand-soap

    clip_image004

They now have a thick body wash..

    clip_image005

They also have much more. Like Perfume, Body mist, hand and body lotion, and AMAZING gift sets.

    You find Bodycology online

    Their website.

You can 'like' them on Facebook

    & follow them on twitter

I was not compensated for this review. I reviewed products and gave my honest opinion of this product. I want to thank Bodycology for the chance to work with them and their amazing products.

Eshakti Review

Eshakti (The Company)

Their Mission:

• To make every customer look her absolute best.
• Provide amazing styles and a wide variety of fabrics and color choices in all sizes from 0-26.
• Ensure the best possible fit and fall by providing all customers with the ability to personalize any item.

Their Vision:

• One size does not fit all and all sizes are not created equal. For too long women have been forced to conform to standard sizing that too often doesn’t fit properly.
• At
eShakti, a customer can shop for exactly what she wants - no compromise. She can ask for her size, including custom size and often change the style as well, and even the color in many cases. At eShakti, a customer will never hear her size is not available.

Their Policy:

• Offer trendy, comfortable styles in a selection of fabrics.
• Provide the full size selection from 0 to 26W. We also offer custom sizes.
• Empower the customer by providing the option to change the styling to suit her body.
•Simple, no hassle, money-back guarantee on sales returns.
• All items, including custom orders are shipped in 3 days or less and should arrive at your door within 7 days.

eShakti – what’s in a name!

The inspiration is from Shakti, which in Sanskrit means power. eShakti is pronounced e-Shuck-tee – but e-Shack-tee works too! eShakti is about empowering you, our customer, with customization in every design - to give you your size, your style, your color, your choice.

To give you a great fit and fall they offer you the option of choosing from Standard Sizes or giving you Custom Size measurements.
The measurements you give them is crucial to deliver the best fit and has to be as accurate as possible without any allowance or guess work.

While choosing a size, they recommend you not to go up or down with your measurements hoping to get a looser or tighter fit based on the silhouette of the product displayed.

It’s best to give them the exact body measurements and drop them an email if you need to leave any special instruction regarding the order.

You can re-design and customize any of the products to make them especially fit you. If you don’t know your measurements you may have some issues, but if you do your good to go.

They have some really cute items..

clip_image001[6] clip_image002[4] clip_image003[4]

These are from the little black dress collection.. I like all of these. They are well designed and look classic and beautiful.

clip_image004[4] clip_image005[4] clip_image006[4]

Wouldn’t these just be fabulous to keep you warm? They look so sophisticated and would bring overall appearance together. Rather than wearing a bulky over-jacket, pick something you can feel great in.

clip_image007[4] clip_image008[4] clip_image009[4] clip_image010[4]

They have managed to create dresses EVEN I will wear, and I’m telling you- I do not usually wear dresses. If I could get one of these to fit me, I would SO go for it.

clip_image011[4] clip_image012[4] clip_image013[4] clip_image014[4]

Some other very cute dresses and skirts..

clip_image015[4] clip_image016[4] clip_image017[4] clip_image018[4] clip_image019[4] clip_image020[4] clip_image021[4] clip_image022[4]

They even carry accessories.. bracelets, pins, and purses

The Product-

clip_image024[4]

These are the pants I received from Eshakti

Details:
Pleating below the removable sash tied waistband adds ease to the shape of smooth cotton poplin pants designed with flared legs and a longer inseam.

Zip fly with button-tab closure.

Back velt pockets.

Full length.

Poplin - 100% Cotton, woven, no stretch, mid-weight.

Machine wash dark colors separately.

My review of the pants:

I thought they were going to be great fitting black pants that I could look professional in.

I was wrong. The extra pleats made this pants swallow me whole. I don’t blame the company for this, I just wish I had picked another product other than the one I got.

The fitting was terrible, and I didn’t like how the pants felt or looked.

Eshakti would still be a good place to buy dresses from.

You can visit them on their website, facebook, and twitter.

`I was not compensated for this review. I agreed to write an honest review for an exchange of a product.

This is my opinion of the product & I thank Eshakti for allowing me this pleasure.

{Pics of Binders}

ReBinder Chipboard Recycled BindersReBinder Professional Recycled Binders

I really love these binders. There aren't many cardboard style binders these days, they all have designs on them or just plain black or white. Anybody that knows me will tell you that I am like a hoarder when it comes to binders. I love buying new binders, paper, and such. I can always manage to find something to put in it. The Rebinder Collection that I got sent came with 2 binders, a folder, and a cd holder, as well as page dividers.

These Binders are so strong and durable because they are made from recycled cardboard, so not only are you getting a good deal, your saving the earth by recycling what has already been used. I am glad to see that companies are becoming earth friendly. Thinking about the ways their products effect the earth. These Binders are awesome because not only are they sturdy, but they are easy to write on, draw on, or tape stuff too. That way you can personalize your binder, and make it yours. When you get the plastic binders, if they are black, you usually have to have a silver marker. If you have the white ones, you can write on them, but I can say that I would much rather have a binder from Rebinder, than any other.

The other plastic binders split easy and are hard to maintain a fresh look. They get dirty and the sides can rip off. Not too fun, especially if you want to KEEP the binders, and not have to replace them. Believe me, they can be expensive. Are these binders worth buying? Most definitely, I would recommend these to students, teachers, or just anyone looking for something sturdy and earth friendly to hold their work in.

I want to say thanks to the Rebinder company for allowing me to review their products. I was not paid in any way to write this. I agreed to write the review for a sample of product, nothing more. This is my own opinion and not persuaded in anyway.

♥ Jess.

Fearless Fourteen- Janet Evanovich (book Review)

Fearless Fourteen- Janet Evanovich

*Book Jacket Review*
Stephanie’s latest skip is Loretta Rizzi, a stressed out single mom who recently help up a liquor store- “I needed a Tom Collins.”- and who just happens to be a cousin of Joe Morelli. Seems trouble runs in the family: Joe’s other cousin Dom- robs banks for a living. His latest take: 9 million dollars stashed… Well, your not the only one who wants to know.
Loretta’s on the lam, and she only agrees to be brought in on one condition: that Stephanie pick up her son, Mario (street name: Zook) from school while Loretta gets bonded out. Plum luck being what it is, Loretta doesn’t get the bond. And now Stephanie’s playing nanny to a 14-year-old tough guy she can neither shoot nor shake down.
Meanwhile, less than a week after Dom gets out of the slammer, shadowy figures are breaking into Joe Morelli’s house. Plus, he’s getting threatening messages-and now Dom’s gone missing. On top of all that security expert Carlos Manoso- a.k.a Ranger-has a job for Stephanie that will involve nightmare night work: babysitting an aging rock diva who eats bodyguards for breakfast!
And you thought YOU had it bad>
Bottom line: Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

*My Review*
Loretta Rizzi, a single mom holds up a liquor store just for a bottle of vodka, so that she may make her a Tom Collins. Now she’s in deep trouble because she has skipped bail, and the only way she will agree to be taken back to jail- Stephanie has to be there for her son. Stephanie’s luck lands her in the middle of a babysitting job (make that TWO) and she isn’t sure which one is worse.

Janet Evanovich- To The Nines (Book Review)

Janet Evanovich- To The Nines
A Stephanie Plum Novel

*Book Jacket Review*
Stephanie Plum has rent to pay, people shooting at her, and psychos wanting her dead every day of the week (much to the dismay of her mother, her family, the men in her life, the guy who slices meat at the deli…oh, the list goes on. An ordinary person would cave under the pressure.
But hey, she’s from Jersey.

Stephanie Plum may not be the best bounty hunter in beautiful downtown Trenton, but she’s pretty darn good at turning bad situations her way…and she always gets her man. In To The Nines, her cousin Vinnie (who’s her boss) has poste bail on Samuel Singh, an illegal immigrant. When the elusive Mr. Singh goes missing, Stephanie is on the case. But what she uncovers is far more sinister than anyone imagines and leads to a group of killers who give new meaning to the word hunter.

In a race against time that takes her from the Jersey turnpike to the Las Vegas strip, Stephanie Plum is on the chase of her life. The unforgettable characters, nonstop action, high-stakes suspense and sheer entertainment of To The Nines define Janet Evanovich as unique among today’s writers.

*My Review*
This is a very well written book that keeps you so embraced in the words that I actually read it in about 2 ½ hours, because I couldn’t do anything but keep reading.

Until this book, I hadn’t had the privilege to read ANY book by Janet Evanovich. Now that I have, I want to read them all. She is a wonderful author, with an amazing way with words. She has so clearly made her characters lifelike and plot and characters are very well detailed.

Stephanie, the bounty hunter is trying to find Samuel Singh (an illegal immigrant in Trenton on a Visa) before her cousin Vinnie has a heart attack (he bailed Samuel Singh out) and now he is nowhere to be found. What Stephanie hopes to find is far from what she DOES actually find. Far more trouble than she realized it would be. She thinks for awhile that she is on a goose chase. If Vinnie and Stephanie don’t have Singh in custody before the hearing, both of them may very well be out of jobs. While questioning the whereabouts of Singh, Stephanie finds herself in a situations she couldn’t have even dreamed up.

I’m not one for spoiling, so I’m going to leave it at that. Amazing book, unforgettable characters, and fantastic plot. You have to read it yourself.

V.C. Andrews- Flowers in the Attic (Book Review)

V.C. Andrews- Flowers in the Attic
The horror begins with…
Flowers in the Attic.

Righteous Anger…
Innocent Fear…
Because the grandmother’s wrath has not yet materialized, Chris and I had grown careless. We were not always modest in the bedroom. It was difficult to live, day in, day out, and always keep the intimate places of our bodies secret from the other sex.

And to be perfectly honest, none of us cared very much who saw what.
We should have cared…
We should have been careful…
We should have kept the memory of momma’s bloody welted back sharply before us, and never, never, have forgotten. A key turned in the door lock, swiftly I tried to put the dress over my head and pull it down before she came in. But she had seen me naked; it was those glittering gray stone eyes.
“So!” the grandmother spat, “I have caught you at last…Sinners! You think you look pretty? You think those new young curves are attractive? You like that long golden hair that you brush and curl?”
She smiled then.
The most frightening smile I ever saw..
This is the extraordinary novel that has captured millions in its spell! All across America and around the world, millions of readers have been captivated by this strange, dark, terrifying tale of passion and peril in the lives of four innocent children, locked away from the world by a selfish mother.

FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC is the novel that launched the extraordinary career of V.C. Andrews, winning her an immediate and fiercely devoted worldwide following; today there are more than 58 million copies of her books in print.

My Review
Christoper-
Cathy-
Carrie-
Cory-
These are the main characters, they are all children. Chris is the eldest at 15, then Cathy who is twelve, ad the twins are five. The story begins with them living with both parents, their lives are very happy. Although they aren’t rich, they aren’t poor either. They know love and caring, as well as nourishment and delight.
Their daddy, Christopher Sr., was a P.R. man for a large computer manufacturing company. He was a huge success and they were living well=being middle-class citizens.
Their mother was a stay-at-home mom. Everything seemed to be going well, until their daddy didn’t show up for his own birthday party. They were thinking he was just held up in traffic. Three hours after the dinner was supposed to start, there was a knock at the door. A policeman gave the bad news that their fateher had been in a terrible accident and he didn’t survive. Their mother had no way to keep the bills paid on their house and car.
The kids knew she was writing her parents to ask for forgiveness, but they had never heard her speak of them when their dad was alive. She wanted to be able to move back in with them because she couldn’t financially take care of all four kids with no job and no experience. When the story unfolds the kids learn that their mother had come from a very rich family and had been disinherited. The grandmother agrees to let her and the kids come live with them. The mother explains to her children, that until now, the grandmother didn’t know about them.
She promises that she can get her father (who is on his deathbed) to re-write her into his will. So staying with them would only be temporary until she can leave with a vast amount of money and they would be rich. They end up being locked in a room off an old wing of the huge house that isn’t used anymore. Their mother promises to them that they won’t be in the room for long. She promises to buy them thing to keep them occupied, such as games and toys, until she can win back her father’s love and affection.
They hate their grandmother and she hates them right back, calling them “devil’s spawn”. They don’t know what she means by this until their mother explains that their father was also their half uncle, and that’s the reason she had been disinherited. A week turns into months, which turns into years of them not being able to go outside and see other people. They turn pale and sickly and begin to lose weight.
Their affections for each other turn from innocent into thriving curiosity. They end up sleeping together when her brother turns aggressive because he can’t express himself as a man and she feels like she caused him to feel this way when she wore short skirts and clinging nightgowns in front of him.
The twins end up hating their mother and turning against her and start seeing their big sister as their mother because she is the one who takes care of them. The story unravels and they find themselves sickly and wanting out after 3 years of imprisonment. Chris, the brother, makes a key imprint when their mother leaves the key laying around, and they sneak in her room and pocket all the money they can get their hands on without being noticed. She thinks the maids are stealing from her, while they are collecting money for their escape.
The twin boy Cory, ends up getting extremely sick and dying. Their mother didn’t even want to take him to the hospital for fear of them being found out. She finally agrees to, although the other kids soon realize that she is lying to them. Cory dies, and although she says it’s pneumonia, they think he has been poisoned. They take Cory’s pet mouse, and start experimenting with him, giving him bites of the powered sugar donuts that the grandmother brings them each morning.
They finally realize that their mother has lied to them the entire time they have been held in captivation. They realize that she has had a new love, and she didn’t even tell him about them. The grandfather has been dead for awhile, and she never said anything. Why would she betray her own children this way? They realize that they can’t depend on their low-life money hungry mother to help them. They have to depend on each other or they will die in captivation. They find out that her love for money, exceeds the love that she has for them.
This is a must read book. It captivated me, drawing me in and kept me turning pages until I was done with it. Makes you hate their mother for being so rude and disregarding to her own children, while they suffer- locked away, dying for her affection and love. V.C. Andrews is a very good writing. Spinning an unbelievable awesome web, that leaves you wanting more of her words. She knows how to write a story, her characters are well developed, her plot so terribly frightening and words that bring you to your knees.

Janet Evanovich-Ten Big Ones (Book Review)

Janet Evanovich-Ten Big Ones
A Stephanie Plum Novel

*Book Jacket Review*

She’s accidentally destroyed a dozen cars. She’s a target for every psycho and miscreant this side of the Jersey Turnpike. Her mother’s convinced she’ll end up dead…or worse, without a man. She’s Stephanie Plum, and she kicks butt for a living (well, she thinks it sounds good to put it that way…)

It begins as an innocent trip to the deli-mart, on a quest for nachos. But Stephanie Plum and her partner Lulu, are clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. A robbery leads to an explosion, which leads to the destruction of yet another car. It would just be another day in the life of Stephanie Plum, except that she becomes the target of a gang-and of an even scarier, more dangerous force that comes to Trenton. With super-bounty hunter Ranger acting more mysteriously than ever (and the tension with vice cop Joe Morelli getting hotter), She finds herself with a decision to make. How to protect herself and where to hide while on the hunt for a killer known as junkman. There’s only one safe place and it has Ranger’s name all over it.-if she can find it. And Junkman doesn’t find her first. With Lulu riding shotgun and Grandma Mazur on the loose, Stephanie Plum is racing against the clock in her most suspenseful novel yet. Ten Big Ones is page-turning entertainment, and Janet Evanovich is the best there is.

*My Review*
This is the second Stephanie Plum novel I’ve read by Janet Evanovich.
I have to say-She’s drawn me in with her witty, kick-ass characters. Stephanie’s the chick you wanted to be when you grew up. Outspoken yet caring, and the need to be unlike most. Most women would be happy to stay at home and let their husbands make the money, but not Stephanie. When she is at home she walks in circles trying to figure out a way to get around the overprotective Joe Morelli. She’s adventurous and is willing to put her life on the line to get the criminals off the streets. Stephanie’s partner Lulu, the big black lady who loves to eat and where her spandex a little too tight brings insight and humor to the story. Ranger and his bad-boy attitude, and unlimited cars and bodyguards for Stephanie. Joe Morelli and his charming good looks and his almost humorous ways he tries to protect Stephanie.
Janet Evanovich is an excellent novelist. She knows how to pull it all together. Crime-fighting, humor, romance, and all….She is now one of my favorite authors and her other books are on my “to-read” list…

CampusBookRentals.com Review

When your in college, life can be expensive. Tuition seems over the moon to what it used to be back years ago. As a mom of 2 young kids, I hate to see what it's going to be like when they're ready to head off on their ambitions for their future. You need to have a budget, and try and save as much money as you can. Instead of buying college books that you may never use again after your class is through, you could rent them. YES, I said rent them. campusbookrentals.com offers free shipping both ways This is an amazing offer, considering paying weight shipping on a textbook could be mighty expensive. Way more than you actually think it should be. They have live customer support, so if you need help, you have it without having to play email tag back and forth. You can search for books by ISBN, Title, Keywords, or Author. They have flexible renting periods with the largest selection of books in the nation. They also buy books, so if you have any left over and not in use, you could sell them to campusbookrentals.com so that someone else could use it. You can write or highlight in these rental books as long as you don't make it excessive, writing in every open space and highlighting every words. Just keep it to a minimum, and you can use it as your own. How cool is that? CampusBookRentals.com also work with Operation Smile.. campusbookrentals.com supports The children of Operation Smile We're ecstatic to announce our 2011 Making a Difference Program. We have officially teamed up with Operation Smile, an out of this world, awesome organization, that performs life changing cleft lip surgeries on children whose families could not otherwise afford it. The long term Improvement in quality of life for the children that receive these surgeries is almost incomprehensible. We have committed to donating enough to cover a minimum of 1,000 life changing surgeries. We hope To beat that number, but it's a significant commitment. So for EVERY book rented starting now, we will donate a portion of those proceeds to Operation Smile with our sights set on meeting and exceeding our goal of 1,000 lives changed. So add that extra book to your cart, and consider this goal as you go back to school this year. Thank you for your support. So not only are you saving money, you are also helping out someone in need. They donate a part of your renting fee to help these children, and it does make a giant significance in their lives. So if you are in college, thinking about going to college, or know someone in college--> send them in the right direction Love, Jess

Heidi Ayarbe- Compromised

Heidi Ayarbe- Compromised
Book Jacket-
Maya’s life has always been chaotic. Living with a con-man dad, she’s spent half her life on the run. Whenever her father’s schemes go wrong, Maya finds a scientific way to fix it. But when her dad ends up in prison and foster care fails, Maya grasps at her last possible hope of a home: a long-lost aunt, who may not even exist.
So Maya formulates a plan, and with her wits, two unlikely allies, and twenty dollars in her pocket, she sets off in search of this aunt, navigating the unpredictable four hundred miles from Reno to Boise. Life on the streets, though, becomes a struggle for survival- those scientific laws Maya has relied on her whole life just don’t apply. And with each passing day, Maya’s definition of right and wrong are turned upside down when she’s confronted with the realities and dangers of life as a runaway. She can’t help but wonder if trying to find her aunt-and some semblance of stability- is worth the harrowing journey or if she should compromise and find a way to survive on her own.
My Review-
Very compelling and captivating novel. I would recommend this not only to young adults but to anyone.
Maya’s mother committed suicide when she was five. She has lived with her dad since. Taken from city to city running from her dad’s schemes, and headed for the next scam. This is the only life that Maya knows and doesn’t mind that it’s just her and her dad. She doesn’t even mind spending holidays at the local Denny’s. Well, that is until the IRS show up and start repo-ing everything: Car, electronics, house, and then eventually her dad. He’s stuck in prison, while she’s at an orphanage with no way out.
She’s wants to just wait it out, hoping he can talk himself out of it like he always has. Not this time. This time he signs her away to the state who want to put her in foster care. She takes the only clues she has (some letters from her moms sister) and sets out on a journey to find a place to call home and someone to call family. This journey shows her more family than she has ever asked for, although not as she had planned.
10/10.
