Foaming Hand Soap- Vanilla & Sweet Orange

I am always washing my hands. As a mom- I have kids who are constantly spilling stuff and getting stuff on them AND me. As a crafter, I need to wash my hands quite frequently because of the paint or whatever I’m crafting with getting on my hands.
My kids also needed something they could wash their hands with after they get done using the bathroom. They are 5 and 3, so it made it a TON easier on me because it had the pump action top. They can push it down by themselves and they loves that it comes out all foamy.
It rinses off totally clean without any residue left behind like many liquid soaps or too drying like bar soaps. I love the smell of the Vanilla & Sweet Orange, it smells like an orange dreamsicle to me. I LOVE orange dreamsicles. So YUMMY. The scent isn’t overpowering either.



Hugo Naturals Lip Balm- Vanilla & Sweet Orange
I always keep chapstick on hand, ALWAYS! I never go without it. There are so many that I’ve tried.. some I like, some I would rather not use again. As far as lip balms go, I rate this as one of the highest.
It smells amazing, the Vanilla & Sweet Orange scent: “Dreamsicles again” I love. I have never used a chapstick or anything else that smelled like this until Hugo Naturals. I LOVE it. I also love that they offer a variety of items with the same smell.
This chapstick doesn’t taste, which is a plus for me. If it did taste, I might actually take a bite of this one.. lol. It smells absolutely divine. It doesn’t stay on for hours and hours, but I didn’t expect it to. That’s why I keep in in my pocket, so I can reapply when needed.
It goes on smoothly, lasts awhile, and keeps my lips super hydrated. It has a sheen like a gloss, and is amazing when put on. I love that I can put this on under or over lipstick and it makes my lipstick look so naturally moisturizing.


Hugo Naturals Body Butter- Vanilla & Sweet Orange

My Thoughts*
I have to say that this isn’t the best body butter I’ve ever used before. Although it does take away from dryness on my feet, knees, and other troubled areas, it leaves behind a greasy/oily feel. That’s partially okay though, I just wash my hands after I’m done applying it.
I usually use body butter on my hands while I’m crocheting because the yarn tends to dry. I don’t use this though because it makes the crochet tools slip out of my hands because of the oily feel.
It works perfect on my dry feet though. I can put this on after the shower, put on my socks and my feel do not have a chance to dry up before my next shower.


Hugo Natural Bar Soap- Vanilla & Sweet Orange
I love that this soap is so easy to lather up. It almost feels like a body wash instead of a bar of soap.
Leaves me squeaky clean and smelling great. I don’t usually use bar soap, but thought I’d give it a try. It looks so awesome (because of the color) sitting in the bathroom. Looks decorative. So I put this out as a hand soap for people to wash their hands after going to the bathroom.
Everybody was complimenting me on the smell and how clean their hands felt. Even Adam uses this to wash his hands and face after he gets off work and thought it cleaned his face very well. (He usually uses body wash also).

My Thoughts*
AS I’ve said before, I have Keratosis Pilaris nicknamed “chicken skin” for a reason. When I found out I had this, I was prescribed Retinol A Cream. The Vitamin A naturally smoothens skin. I couldn’t afford $80 for a small tube, so my doctor recommended body oil mixed with Olive Oil.
Instead I have been using this mixed with Sprout Skincare’s CREAM and I have seen noticeable improvement in a week. I love this product.
It’s recommended that you use this straight out of the shower to hold In the moisture from the shower, but you can use it on dry skin also. Before I go to bed, I pour a about a teaspoon of this in my hand and spread it on my thighs and follow with the Cream from Sprout.
I have always been self conscious about this, hardly ever wearing shorts or a bathing suit. It kind of looked like a bunch of ingrown hairs or small pimples and they itched like poison ivy. Now they are almost completely gone without any trace of them being there at all.
They will never be “Gone” out of my life. They’ll come back if I stop using this treatment. I will certainly continue with this regimin because it is a TON cheaper than buying the Retinol A cream. (and SMELLS WAY better too) =)
My skin feels so soft and supple and smells amazing. It is lightweight and absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue. It leaves a nice healthy glow and doesn’t stain my clothes.
You can also add a few drops to your warm/hot bath water to soften your skin while you bathe, then add some more when you get out. I love the way this smells and feels.

My Thoughts*
I really liked this bath salt. As my water was running for my bath, I put in maybe a quarter of a cup (from the lid) into the running water and it immediately begin to fizz up. After awhile, I poured even more in there just so I could relax a little longer.
Hey- I don’t get that privilege very much.
My bath water smelled amazing. It didn’t overpower and I couldn’t smell it for VERY long after my bath, but that’s why I have the body oil and lotion, right?
It gives off such a relaxing natural beautiful smell that make me want to stay in my bath forever.. but the water got cool and cool water and I just do NOT work out so well..

This lotion is remarkably and wonderfully moisturizing. It is light and doesn’t leave my skin oily or greasy. It isn’t TOO thick but it isn’t watery either. It’s the right consistency for a lotion.
I keep this in my crochet bag. This keeps my hands VERY hydrated. I love crocheting but the constant touching of the yarn dries my hands. I needed something that would help me and it’s awesome because of the push down lotion top. I don’t have to put the yarn down to get a dab. I can just press, lotion up, and continue crocheting. LOVE IT!

My thoughts*
This has a really nice smell (you can smell the brown sugar) with a touch of the kumquat I guess (I’ve never smelled it before). It leaves my skin really soft, smooth, and supple.
It also puts a bit of oil in the bathtub, so I would recommend that you wash your hair and do whatever you need to BEFORE using this. I already had washed my hair, but I kept thinking if I hadn’t how oily my hair might become with this in the water.
It was a bit hard to stir at first. I did it with the handle of my razor. You need to mix it up because all the scrubbing particles sink to the bottom and leave an oily substance at the top. So, you need to mix this well before use.

Sarasa Metallics by Zebra Pen Review

I was sent the Sarasa Metallic Pens from Zebra Pen.

As a crafter AND a writer, I am always on the lookout for new pens. I have used some of the most awesome pens that can be bought. Then again, I’ve used some pens that I never will purchase EVER again.

These Sarasa Metallic pens come in gold, silver, and copper. They seem to float across the paper. They flow constantly with no skips, which is what I look for in a gel pen. I hate writing and having to go over a word twice or more to be able to see it. If it skips, I toss it.

When I’m writing and my pen just drifts across the page, I fall in love. I can’t stand a pen that gives me backtalk.! This pen doesn’t backtalk at all. It does what it is supposed to do and gives beautiful color as well.

I never once had to shake them and wish something would come out. I’ve had many gel pens that have done this to me. I would be writing and all of a sudden, they would stop working right in the middle of a page.

They don’t scratch the page either. You know what I mean. That eerie feeling I get when I hear nails on a chalkboard.. that kind of scratching. I have seen MANY pens in my day that do that to me, and I pass on them. I can’t stand it. I need a pen that works smoothly.

I also seem to find that the smaller the pen point is the worse I write. I don’t know why, but it’s true. This pens works perfectly for writing letters, calendar writing, sticky notes, or honey-do lists!

These pens write very well on light paper as well as they do dark. They aren’t hard to see, and look very professional. So professional that you could use them in the office. AND because of the colors, they would be a perfect gift for that man in your life. How could they resist something metal? LOL

These do NOT dry up easily. I accidently left the pen part out for an entire day and started writing with it, and it didn’t even skip ONCE.

They work perfectly for crafts. Mother’s Day is nearing and I will be making handmade cards. I have tested and retested these on scrapbook paper, construction paper, printer paper, and they never ONCE failed me!

You could also use these to make thank you cards, homework (for your kids or if you are in college), and other crafts.

Enjoy! Luxury Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I was sent the Luxury Shampoo & Conditioner from Enjoy. These products are considered to be professional quality and are used by salons all the time. I couldn’t agree with them more. I have never experienced more of a hydrated yet not weighed down oily look.

I have oily hair, and I have to wash it almost every day so it doesn’t look like I NEVER wash my hair. This shampoo and Conditioner Duo have shaped my hair into a manageable, silky sheen. I can skip washing it every day now!  They are both thick and creamy and you can FEEL the luxurious silky ingredients in this when you rub it in the palms of your hands.

Just a tad bit of this goes a long way. I love when you don’t have to use an entire handful of shampoo to get it to lather the way it’s supposed to. I have had these for 3 weeks and haven’t even used a quarter of the bottle!

This leaves my hair with such a clean feeling, and it smells so AWESOME. The best part is that it washes out easily, leaving no residue behind. My hair is usually very fine, and this creates a HUGE amount of volume that I’ve never experienced with just a shampoo and conditioner before.


I didn’t have a huge amount of split ends, but I had enough of them. Blow-drying and straightening really cause the ends to split. I also haven’t had a haircut in over a year. This helps out SO much with split ends and frizziness.

My hair was SO smooth and felt SO naturally healthy. After just ONE wash you can tell a difference in the hair texture. It is a sulfate free set, so you don’t have to worry about it being so chemically processed that it might hurt you in the long run.

At the end of the day AND even the next morning I can still smell the glorious scent of this shampoo and conditioner. When they arrived in the box, I didn’t have to worry about them seeping out everywhere, because it was taped shut.

A: Age. I am 23. I have made it SO far in my 23 years though. I have a wonderful hubs, 2 amazing kids, a college degree (almost) and a BLOG that I love. I also sew and crochet, and dabble in other crafts.

B: Babies. My Kids have changed me so much. Before I was a mom, I was the wild and spontaneous type. There would be no telling where I was or what I was up to. Now I’m the exact opposite. It doesn’t bother me though. I LOVE being a mom.

C: Crafter. I LOVE just about any kind of craft. Crocheting, Sewing, Paper Crafts, Jewelry Making, Soap and beauty supplies making, candle making.. I am IN love with making stuff out of nothing!

D: Daddy.  Adam is Awesome to the kids. We have been together for 7 years and have Aidan 5 and Adisyn 3. Although we have our ups and downs I can ALWAYS count on him being there for me, with no questions asked.

E: Education means the world to me. I used to bring all my books home from school and I’d copy each chapter and keep my own notes in it as well. I swear I should have been a teacher, but I’m not.

F: Friend. I am quick to befriend people. I am easy going (Most of the time) and love to laugh.
G: Giggles. When I get the giggles, It’s hard for me to stop. I start giggling, then I get the giggle bug and think everything is funny.!

H: Happy. I believe that most of the time we create our own happiness. How can we lead a positive life with a negative mind?

I: Independent. I am that. I love being able to do stuff for myself and not have to solely depend on people to help me. I love making my own money and doing stuff for my kids just because I can!

J:  Jess. I am the middle of 2 kids. I have an older brother who passed away @ 3 months due to crib death, and a younger sister Brandy, who I am super close to.

K: Kids. 2 kids of my own (5 and 3) and a stepson (9). No more for me. I am done having kids. Although I can only have 1 more anyway because my first was an emergency C-section.

L:Love. I’ll probably be with Adam until I’m old and grey.

M:Math- I SUCK at math. Other than the basics; adding, subtracting, division, multiplication. I can learn the others, but can’t remember..lol

N: NERD. 100% true. I totally admit it. I LOVE learning, reading, HTML, blog design, and everything in between.

O: Organized? I TRY. I have everything where I want it, it’s just the principle of keeping it there! The kids are tornado’s here lately.

P: Paper and Pen Addict. I have TONS of notebooks, binders, loose leaf paper EVERYWHERE. It comes along with the writing, I suppose. I never know when I need to write something down.

Q: Queen of the house. Adam is the best! He works all day and then comes home and helps me with the kids (sometimes) and then helps with supper.!

R: Reading: Yep. You’ll almost always catch me with a book in hand. Or kindle now—Since I got one for my Bday! I still would rather have a traditional Book though =)

S: Silly. When I get sleepy, I tend to think just about anything is funny.

T: Tidy. No matter how tidy I try and keep my house, it never works out too well for me. My kids get into everything! So, I have to constantly run around them picking stuff up!

U: Underestimated. When I became a blogger, nobody in my family or anyone of my friends understood. When I said that I’d end up making money and doing what I wanted through my blog, they thought I was a nutcase. NOT anymore. I SHOWED everyone I was capable of chasing my dream and tackling it.!

V: Vows. Although Adam and I have been together for 7 years, we still haven’t married. I am in no rush. I call him my husband anyway. The only thing that we don’t have is the paper.!
W: Writer. Not just a blog writer, but writer in general. I have always loved to write. No matter what it is.
X: X-rays, have had my share of them!. I have really bad neck and back problems. I used to think I was supergirl. I would try and pack stuff that MEN carried. Heavy logs, furniture, other people. NOW I am paying for it.

Y: Yarn. I am IN LOVE with all the colors and types of yarn. If I had a million bucks, half of it would probably be spent on yarn, no joke.

Z:ZZZ’s. I tend not to sleep at night. Instead I stay up all night and sleep most of the day. It started with me trying to stay up a little bit past my kids bedtime to get some work done. Then they started staying up later and later.. Now it’s the story of my life. LOL

My Thoughts*

I have oily facial skin with dry patches as well as dead skin buildup in certain areas. This works amazing with a face scrubber to not strip the skin of it’s natural oils, yet gets the over oil production gone. It reduces the dead skin buildup with no problem.
This bar of soap lathers up quite perfectly, I have to say. I have used it on my face all week and it works spectacularly because it doesn’t dry my skin out like some other facial soaps I’ve tried.
So far, it seems to be brightening up my complexion and emptying and unclogging my pores as far as I can see. It seems to be clearing out the few small zits I had, which is a plus. It also seemed to reduce the redness around the zit so it was easier to cover-up with concealer.
The hardest part about hiding zits is the redness. It still shows up underneath concealers unless you use a huge glob of it. When the redness is reduced, it seems to be SO much better.
You do not keep this on your face for an extended amount of time. You wash and rinse, simple as that. Some cleansers stay on for awhile for 3-5 minutes. Not this. If you leave it on, it may cause dryness. It works best when used like a regular facial soap.
I let my mom try this out as well, and she also liked how it worked. I let her use it because we have different skin types. Where I have oily skin and dead skin built up in areas, she has dry skin and very sensitive skin. So, if she could use it without it breaking her out or giving her redness, I knew it was a go-to product.
She loved it. She had recently been going to the tanning bed and was looking for something to rid her of some dryness she was getting on her nose. Her nose was peeling (not from the tanning bed) but just because she has dry skin. She tried a ton of other stuff to try and get rid of this and nothing was working. When I let her test this out, within 2-3 uses the dry skin and redness on her nose was absolutely gone.
She was even putting moisturizers and lotions on it and it wasn’t helping. She was even trying to cover it up with makeup, but it was making her makeup peel off. She raved about this soap. It works AND smells AMAZING.

My Thoughts*

Just for the short amount of time that I’ve used this, I can feel my skin getting softer, smoother, and it feels beautifully moisturized. This facial cream boosts tissue recovery and healing.
This is 100% natural and can be used with all skin types. If you have sun damaged skin, this is something that you would LOVE to have because it rejuvenates the damaged skin that is caused from too much sun.
It has Omega 7 Fatty Acids which helps to boost collagen production. When you lose collagen in your skin, it starts to sag and wrinkle. It is shown that if you start boosting your collagen and elastin BEFORE you start losing them (roughly middle 40’s) you can help prevent fine lines, crows feet, and wrinkles.
Also, if you already have signs of fine lines and wrinkles, you can start using creams, lotions, and other creams that help to boost these. This is one that will help, isn’t expensive, and smells amazing.
This smells like wild oranges or tangerines with an underlying smell that I can’t describe. It must be the buckthorn, but I’ve never smelled buckthorn before, so I couldn’t say. It smells awesome!

Kavatee Neckalina Review

I have to say that I have never seen or even heard of a Neckalina until KaVatee. I love accessorizing my wardrobe to give me that chic and sophisticated look. This is absolutely what every woman should have!

When my kids were babies, all I could be seen in were jeans and t-shirts. There was no point in dressing up just to be thrown up on or have them smear something on my clothes.
Now that they are older and no longer have these issues (we hope! LOL) I am taking FULL advantage of looking as pretty and as classy as I can. This year I went and bought some new clothes, boots, and some new purses! YAY me. Just what I needed to start my year off right.
But I was totally missing something, and I couldn’t quite place my finger on it. Now that I have a Neckalina, I’ve figured out what that something is. There is nothing like making an outfit pop like neckwear. Plain jewelry or a scarf by itself, yes- but a Neckalina- NOW that’s really making a statement.

I received the Caroline Neckalina, which has such a elegant look with a frisky, flirty flare. This glamour girl inspired necklace features antique gold and pretty pink beads.

I absolutely DID feel like a glamour girl! This made me walk with a pep in my step all day because it is swanky, fashionable, and yet superior all in one. I am SO glad I found this! See me looking all spiffy there?
I know I will be using this TONS now. Especially since it’s almost time for flirty, kittenish dresses and this is the PERFECT thing to add some flair to a simple summer dress.
This is something that can make ANY ordinary outfit look amazing. In the picture, I am wearing a  grey polo Vanity shirt and some ripped Aeropostale pants. After adding the Neckalina, I couldn’t stop feeling like a million bucks.

Can’t you tell a difference in yourself when you have on makeup, your hair looks halfway decent, and you have on something that isn’t sweatpants?..lol. I know I can. When I have on sweatpants and my hairs a mess, I am DEFINITELY not going to be feeling up to doing much. Now inset- KaVatee. I’ve never had an accessory do as much for me then this.
It came straight out of the bag SMELLING like class- NO JOKE! I don’t know if they spray purfume on it, or if it’s something they make the Neckalina with, but it smelled amazing.

(My mom has already tried to steal this from my closet, so I will probably let her borrow it also!) My mom is also a fashion nerd! She has more shoes than there are days are in a year.!
The best part about this is that it has a button connecting it together. I have done my hair and been able to unbutton it and put it on without messing up my hair OR makeup!

The best part about it is they have so many colors to choose from, and they give them such cute little names. I WILL collect all of these (and probably a couple extra for my mom!)

The Audrey is our exquisite, turquoise Neckalina with a bold beaded necklace. This vintage inspired necklace features antique gold, and stunning turquoise beads.

The Brendi is an edgy, gunmetal gray Neckalina with a rocker vibe.  The necklace is made of layered, metal chains of all sizes.  ROCK ON!

What does “KaVatee” mean? The “Ka” is for Katie Conley, the “Va“ is for Valerie Eidson, and the “tee” represents our LOVE of tee shirt feeling fabrics.  We met at Parsons School of Design in NYC.  We have several years of experience in the fashion industry from couture houses and corporate brands, to private labels and celebrity styling.  After soaking up everything we could while working for others, we decided to pursue our KaVatee dream!  We are learning everyday as we bring our vision to life.

Viva Labs Omega Select Fish Oil Review

Viva Labs is different from other fish oil capsules. WHY? Because it has 900 mg of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. This is VERY important to me. Heart disease runs in my family, and I am trying to stay FAR FAR away from it. Omega-3 Fatty Acids have shown that they have the same cardiovascular benefits that DHA’s and EPA’s have.

There are tons of products on the market saying that they have the Omega Fatty Acids that we need. In truth, most only have 30% of the Omega-3 fatty acids that Viva Labs Fish Oil has. They are instead filled with 70% fillers and saturated fats.

Did you know that these companies were claiming the untrue? Probably not. I buy vitamins all the time thinking the FDA must have MADE them tell the truth right? They claim all kinds of false things. They pretend that their products are the best, when really they are filling their capsules with fillers instead of the real thing.

I WANT to be healthy as I can be. I want to see my children grow older. I want to witness them graduating high school, going to college, getting married..etc. How can I do that if I don’t take the precautions of something that I almost KNOW is heading my way? 2 of my aunts and uncles on my dads side as well as my grandmother had valve replacement surgery and triple bypass. I believe in Omega-3 fatty acids.

This is one of the best forms of fish oil that I've tried, and I’ve tried many. Most smell and taste horrible, and have a fishy aftertaste. I have belched up fish tasting bubbles after taking some of them and almost got sick. The Viva labs capsules slide down smoothly, do NOT taste or smell bad, and most definitely do not have the after taste.

If your looking for something to add to your health regimen, I would definitely recommend this. I know this is something I will be adding to mine. I want to live life, NOT in a hospital room!

Maggie’s Direct Synthetic Pillow Review

I am always on the lookout for pillows that offer head support and helps me sleep easily. I have neck and back problems so I hate being flat against the bed because I wake up with a stiff neck! I didn’t get to sleep with this one for long though. Adisyn and Aidan swooped this up with high energy.

This pillow feels exactly like a firm, soft cloud. I love it. I love that Aidan and Adi now have a pillow that doesn’t sink flat when they lay on it. I love that they now have something to keep their heads supported. The pillow I received was the 235 Thread Count Synthetic Firm Pillow in King Size.

I thought this was going to be my cuddle buddy and help me relax, BUT… since the kids wanted it, I couldn’t deny them the right either! I want them to wake up refreshed as well. They have taken it and NEVER once looked back. Adisyn throws a fit for it every night when they go to lay down.

This pillow is awesome. It fits my standards as far as firmness goes yet  it soft enough to lay on without feeling like your head is floating above your body. The stitching is very strong, so I know if I ever need to I’ll be able to wash it without it falling to pieces.

My kids flip flop throughout the night, so I like that the pillow reforms to their heads. No matter what position they are in, the pillow cradles their heads. If you press down on it with you hand and then remove your hand, you can see it pop back to life. I thought that was awesome!!

Review: Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser from Liz Earle

The most basic skincare regimen is making sure you wash your face twice daily. If you don’t clean the dirt from your pores, they will clog and give you blackheads and pimples. I’m not saying that you don’t already know THIS, but even I have had such long days with sick kids and a sick hubby and fell asleep without washing my face.. (AND.. it turned ugly) Even skipping one washing.
Washing my face relaxes me before I go to bed, and invigorates me in the morning. I am addicted to this Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I LOVE the feeling this cleanser gives me. You can FEEL it working on the deep down dirt that most cleansers leave behind.

The Muslin Cloths that come with it are AMAZING and feel so different from washing my face with a regular washcloth. It feels like heaven. You pump the cleanser into your hand, rub it in your hands, and smear it on your face and neck. You can immediately rinse this off, or leave it on for a couple of minutes. I’ve done both and was AMAZED when I left it on for a minute or so.
Then you run hot water and put the muslin cloth under the faucet, and wipe the cleanser off. There is nothing like a hot muslin cloth running over your face. I felt like I was having a facial at home. It didn’t take long to clean it, and my face was clean but not dry and stripped of it’s natural oils.
Before using this I had a very dry forehead. WHY- I’ll never know, but it kind of felt like plastic. Probably from using another cleanser that wasn’t working out so well, but I’ll talk about that at another time. This cleanser made the dry forehead disappear within ONE use.

It is thick and creamy and smells like eucalyptus which I LOVE the smell of because it smells so naturally clean. It has a nice cooling effect when applied and started to tingle my face. (Not BAD tingle, I mean like HOW DID YOU EVER LIVE WITHOUT ME? tingle).
When you use the muslin cloth it’s sort of like cleaning a window or brushing your teeth. WHY? Because you start in one section doing a circular motion and work your way down. I had makeup on and NONE of it was left after the first cleansing. My eye makeup wasn’t smeared and my mascara didn’t run. It got ALL of this!
My skin was so unbelievable. I couldn’t stop touching it, It felt like silk or satin. So smooth to the touch I wasn’t sure it was skin.. lol. It’s amazing what a great cleanser will do for you!
I have problem skin here and there. I get breakouts still sometimes. Not bad ones, but I still hate even having ONE zit or feeling like there are blackheads on my nose. Since using this, I haven’t had ANY issues with breaking out, and I am very impressed.
This is a high quality cleanser. Something I would expect a spa to use. I have never in my life used anything that made my skin feel so AWESOME in ONE wash. Usually cleansers take a couple of washes to show an effect on my skin. Where I have combo skin other cleansers were drying out my dry spots and not getting all the oil from the oily spots. NO MORE FOR ME! I am awestruck and in love.
I feel like a celebrity when using this, getting the best treatment!! And you can too.
The muslin cloth is bigger than regular washcloths but they are super thin. The thinness doesn’t take away from how sturdy it is and how clean my face felt. I have never washed my face with muslin, but let me tell you- I was MISSING out!!
The Muslin Cloths are easy to clean. You just handwash them in hot water and air dry them. Or you can machine wash and air dry. They keep their stability and work like a dream!

Unjunk Your Junk Food Book Review

This year I made a vow to eat healthier, exercise, and be greener. I thought I was doing pretty good with every single vow I made. Until I received Unjunk Your Junk Food- Healthier Alternatives to Conventional Snacks that is. Now to make us a healthier family, I needed the help of Randy Boyer ,Andrea Donsky, and Lisa Tsakos - NaturallySavvy.com!

After reading this book, I am appalled. Statistics are VERY against us, saying that 1/3 of our diets are made up of junk food. This is a HUGE problem. Obesity, Diabetes 2, and digestive problem rates have skyrocketed.

This book isn’t saying that you have to give up eating snacks. It’s just telling us that there are better choices for us then what we may be choosing. The trick to feeling better, eating healthier, and avoiding obesity is eating foods that have less additives and chemicals, and are less processed.

This book is amazing. It helps in TONS of ways. It shows how to properly read an ingredients list and how to pick out the hidden sources of sugars, AND looking at the sugars they DO show. It breaks down the meaning of label terms such as trans-fat, enriched, fortified, etc.

Eating a well balanced diet is very important. I didn’t see how eating sweets would throw us off, but now I understand FULLY. Carbohydrates (Carbs) which we NEED, although many diet and weight loss programs tell us different, help us as long as we are eating the right KIND of carbs and not overdoing it.

If you eat too many sugary carbs it ends up resulting in high blood sugar. High blood sugar overproduces insulin, which helps to lower blood sugar. When this happens we end up craving sugary foods to bring blood sugar back to normal and it will eventually lead to gaining a ton of weight and resistance of your body’s natural insulin.

This book isn’t one of those boring books that put you to sleep within the first chapter. This books brings all these nutritional facts to life and make ME want to learn how to make myself and my family healthier. How can we do this on our own if we don’t understand the way all this stuff works throughout our bodies?

How did you learn how to read? You didn’t just start out reading sentences. You had to start with the alphabet, right? This is the same thing. We can’t learn to eat right, if we don’t know how to properly find hidden fats, sugars, and how and why all these things are bad.

I praise this book to the HIGHEST. I think that if more people read this, we could definitely become a healthier America. Each chapter talks about different types of junk food, and what’s in that junk food. The best part is, they explain WHY you might be craving these junk foods.

The best part of the book is that it helps you CHOOSE the right choices. The first chapter is salty foods, so it breaks down the different salty foods and gives you the BAD and the GOOD of each choice. For instance, low-fat/light potato chips features “Lays Light” and “Brother’s All Natural Potato Crisps”. The winner is NOT Lays. Lays Light has an ingredient called Olestra which can’t be absorbed by the body.

I love how it breaks down and gives choices rather than canceling out snacks all together. The bad choice is on the left, the good choice is on the left. It then gives you an explanation as to why the one on the right is a better choice.

Adam is a HUGE Doritos fan. Everytime we go to the grocery store, he always puts in 2 bags. Nacho and Ranch. I wasn’t astonished to see it on the bad list because it had SO many ingredients they couldn’t even fit them all on the page without having to shrink them. Most of the ingredients in Doritos are actually ingredients you should avoid. AND Adam eats these like they are going out of style.

Although there were a few things in my cabinets that do not need to be there, I found items that can be kept. Our Smore’s Poptarts are Cholesterol Free, A good source of vitamins, minerals, and calcium.

The most important thing is- that this book teaches you what to look for, so you can go through and choose which items you should be tossing and which ones you should buy. It’s not a very huge book, so it wouldn’t be hard to toss it in your purse and bring with you on your next grocery shopping trip, which is what I plan to do!

This scales is very easy to clean. All you have to do is wipe it down with a damp washcloth. You have to remember that this is NOT waterproof. You can’t submerge this into water or any kind of liquid at any time. It will NEVER work again. It is an electronic, and shouldn’t be set in water either.
To get the best results, you need to set the scale on a very balanced flat surface that is completely clean and dry. You can weigh everything recipe wise with this.

It is sleek and slim and takes up very little storage space. This is a huge plus in a small kitchen that has a lot of items. I don’t want to have to find a place to store a big bulky scale. It can be used and returned to it’s place with no problem at all.

It cleans up quickly and easily. It’s very simple to use and is very straightforward when weighing. It comes with an instruction book, but it’s so simple that I didn’t have to use it. The tempered glass makes it 4 times more stronger than regular glass.

I love the TARE button. It very quickly calculates the net weight of the ingredients by subtracting the container weight. This makes it SO much easier when weighing flour, baking soda, baking powder, etc.. I don’t have to weigh the container first and then subtract the weight of the actual ingredients.
It comes with a Calorie guide that also includes the U.S. postal service First Class Letter Rate Guide. The Calorie Guide features hundreds of different foods that are measured 1 cup/ 1 1/2 cups and how many calories it is. This would be awesome for someone who makes their own recipes, because they could just jot down the calories when writing the recipe.

The First Class Letter Guide is only updated to 2009, so it isn’t really handy. It’s not hard to look it up and print it off though. If you are a business retailer looking for shipping prices.. just click HERE
I am also excited to have this because of my small business. This would be a VERY awesome thing to have when determining how much something weighs to mail it out. This is great for mailing small-medium items, which is all I ship out anyway.

I looked at the post office and on many online stores, and although they weighed up to 30 pounds, they didn’t have gram options. If I’m just going to be mailing out a small piece of jewelry or a couple of crocheted bookmarks, I didn’t want to have to convert it to ounces.
I LOVE this scale and I will NEVER part with it. It is so elegant looking because if the black tempered glass. It weighs easily and efficiently without me having to do any extra work. It cleans up easy, with just a wipe down. It stores easily, whether I’m using it In the kitchen or for mailing items.

This is a major plus to me. No more guessing on the weight of recipe items or items to mail. I can now be ready when I go to the post office to mail something!
