Mirage Face Blending Powder

image

This is the multitasker of the makeup world. Those imperfections that only you can see, are now gone. COMPLETELY from your mind and from your image in the mirror. Those red-spots that still shine through when you put on your foundation? GONE.

WP_000844

This not only sets your makeup for all day wear, but it perfects it as well. What more could you ask for? This is meant to give you perfect, flawless, airbrush looking skin.

I love that the color isn’t bronze or pasty looking. It was the right color for my face. It didn’t make me look I’d rolled in doritos or magically turned into a ghost. It magically removes any makeup mishaps, discoloration, and imperfections.

WP_000717

It is lightweight, and doesn’t cake up like some mineral makeups do.

It doesn’t have a white look to it, which makes it easier to get the airbrushed look that we all desire.

This also comes with a brush (which I didn’t get) but I did have a big foundation brush thanks to Sephora. So that’s what I used.

When using a mineral makeup or anything that is in a powder form I always gently tap some into the lid. Then I swirl the brush around the top (because the warmth of the swirling is what grabs the minerals). Then I apply it in a swirling circular motion, until I get the desired effect.

Winking smile

Refined and flawless, pores minimized, and all the redness gone! YEP, it’s a miracle in a jar.

BUY IT: You can buy the Mirage Face Blending Powder for $35.20

Conceal It Concealer

image

I’m not going to lie, I have MAJOR blackness under my eyes. It’s due from not sleeping enough and working too much. I am always trying to find a way to cover it up without looking like I’ve ADDED anything.

Some concealers are just TOO white for my skin and no matter how much I try and cover the whiteness up with my foundation, it will NEVER do what I want it too. That’s the reason I love this one so much,

It’s a concealer, but it’s more like a foundation/concealer than just a concealer. It’s just the right color for my skin. I don’t have to try and hide the whiteness because there isn’t any.

WP_000851WP_000847

It has built in primer, so I never have to worry about the concealer magically disappearing to show my flaws. Built in primer, concealer, foundation and eyelid base makes this the most amazing piece of makeup I’ve used all year!

I love the handy container with an attached mirror. It makes it SO easy to travel with and put in my makeup bag in my purse. I can touch up at work, a night out with my friends, or a date with the hubby. It even comes with it’s own applicator (which I absolutely love).

I also really like that there isn’t a fragrance to this. I hate those weird smells that come from some foundations and concealers. There isn’t ANY smell when applying or after, which is a huge plus.

I have combination skin and this goes on absolutely flawless. It stays on almost all day too. It has Vitamin E and is oil-free, so if you have oily skin don’t fret about finding something to fit the oiliness.

I am VERY picky about my concealers, and this is at the very top of my list. I will definitely switch. I love the airtight container that it comes in, the concealer hasn’t dried out ONE time the whole time I’ve been using it. I would definitely give this an A+.

BUY IT: You can buy the Conceal It Concealer for $28.50

Airless Creme Eyeliner

WP_000848

I have always wanted to use a liquid liner (I had NEVER heard of creme liners until now), but the liquid just would NOT work for me. I’d end up smearing it, smudging it, and just all over messing it up. It was more of a hassle then not, so I just gave up completely and went back to the pencils.

Until now. I am SO in love with these creme liners. I NEVER use anything else since getting these in the mail. Head over heels infatuation is what it is. These are simply and absolutely AMAZING!

How do I use it: Dip the tip of the eyeliner brush into the eyeliner, being sure to coat both sides of the brush head. Apply liner in short, even strokes close to the lash line, from the inner to the outer eye corner.

Deep Black and Navy Shimmer

Emerald & Plum

Minix & Bella Bronze

imageimageWP_000860

They are richly textured, feels more like a mousse than a liner. I love the silky feeling I get when I apply this. They go on so well. I don’t have to fight with it, hoping for it to go on just right.

These are smudge proof and budge proof. No sweating them off. No hoping that you can still see it an hour later. These are absolute perfecting in an eyeliner.

This also has an airtight container so that the liner doesn’t dry out. I always get the creamy textured line every single time. I love each and every color that they sent me. I can mix it up and make every outfit look glamorous and sophisticated. Winking smile

BUY IT: You can buy 1 Airless Creme Eyeliner with an angled brush for $31.95 or a set of 3 with an angled brush for $45

Multi-angled Eyeliner Brush

image

This eyeliner brush is the best of the best. I’ve never had the experience of controlling an eyeliner brush before! This is amazing. You can use it straight, or anywhere between there and 150*.

Eyeliner has never been easier to apply without mistakes, smudges, or smears!

Airless Brow Fix with Brush

image

They sent me the Brow Gel in brunette with a brush to apply the gel with. They have 5 different colors in this brow gel, which is amazing! They have blonde, auburn, brunette, black, and grey.

WP_000862I love how I can thicken my eyebrows a bit. I had a bit of an eyebrow accident when I was younger. I was using one of those electric eyebrow shavers and didn’t VERY close attention and shaved off half my eyebrow. It grew back, but there are still some splotchy messes here and there where it looks like tiny bald spots. I was VERY glad that it was covered without looking unnatural.

I love the performance of the gel, not to mention that it actually HELPS your brows grow with continued use.

BUY IT: You can buy the Airless Brow Fix with Brush for $30.95

Volumizing Tilting Mascara

image

With a twist of the handle, the brush automatically tilts. This is amazing! Lashes are naturally curved, so creating a tilting mascara was very innovative of Dalton. It makes for very easy application!

I love that it’s flake free, smudge free, and lasts all day long. It makes my lashes look like they have more volume and length, which I like. My lashes are long, but not that thick. This gives me the volume I like without clumping up and creating a huge mess.

Now there is no need for a curler! It seems to be making my lashes healthier with just the few months or so that I’ve been using it. I love it!

WP_000861

BUY IT: You can buy the Volumizing Tilting Mascara for $22

The Shadow/Highlighter Brush

image

The little part of the brush is what I use to apply my eyeshadow. I love how the hairs are durable. They haven’t started matting up or falling out. It looks EXACTLY the same as it did when I got it, and that’s hard to do.

WP_000861

It’s exactly the right size to get my lid without having to re-dip the brush in the shadow a million and five times.

It never gives any problems and is very easy to clean!!

The fat part of the brush I use to apply shadow to the part under my eyebrow and above my lid. It’s big so I don’t have to use a ton of shadow.

I love that I can also use this for a blending brush. I can blend in those dark spots of shadow, so that they seem lighter. Smile

Buy It: You can buy the Shadow/Highlighter Brush for $15.40

Moisturizing Lip Trio

WP_000850

These lipsticks are SO different from other lipsticks because they are infused with marula oil, raspberry butter, and other beneficial vitamins to help smooth and soften lips.

I was sent shimmer beige, khaki, and Captive. They feel like chapstick when I apply them. They are SO moisturizing. It was nice to have a lipstick that not only had a long lasting stay but didn’t dry up within the hour.

WP_000865WP_000869WP_000870

There is no taste or fragrance to these, so they are just absolute perfection at it’s best! My favorite is the Captive. I’m really not a neutral lipstick gal! I love color and the captive is a beautiful berry color! The Shimmer Beige I like too, because it’s more like a lipgloss. The khaki makes my lips looks like I applied concealer to them, but if you like neutral lips- you’d like it!

Everything that was sent to me gets an A++. Easy to apply makeup, airtight containers, easy to use and easy to clean brushes. A woman couldn’t ask for more from her makeup company. They are absolutely brilliant and I will continue to buy stuff from them!!

Review: Starlooks November Starbox

imageWP_000641

Look at this chic, cute, and sophisticated leopard box that came in the mail a couple weeks ago from Starlooks. This is one of my favorite boxes that I’ve gotten from Starlooks. They send 3-4 FULL sized makeup/beauty products a month for only $15.

I love the excitement of not knowing what could be in the box before I open it. It’s a chance to try out some perfectly amazing products for a very cheap price. You aren’t going to find such quality items for this price anywhere!

WP_000643

This is the November Starbox. It came with an amazing lipstick with a touch of moisturizing gloss, a 4 palette eyeshadow, an eyelash tool, and 2 quartz crystal that attracts energy and maintain focus.

The Lipstick

WP_000646WP_000647WP_000837

image

This lipstick has become my go-to lipstick, the Tendergloss Lipstick (PM412 Pearl). It’s more like a colored lipgloss. It gives relief just like chapstick does. I love the shimmery pearl color.

I love that it isn’t waxy and doesn’t dry out like other lipsticks. This is my favorite!

The Eyeshadow Palette

WP_000644

Rusting (i137), Midnight Mongolia (i185)

Coffee Bean(i318) , Void Echo (i270)

The look that I can create with these 4 colors are simply amazing. I love it. So sophisticated, classy, and brings out not only my complexion but the color of my eyes.

I love how each one (except the coffee bean) has a hint of shimmer inside. You can mix and match it up so that you have a day look for work, and a night look for going out with your girls or a date with the hubby.

WP_000835

From Top to bottom.

Rusting (i137),

Midnight Mongolia (i185)

Coffee Bean(i318) ,

Void Echo (i270)

I love the smoky look that I get when I use this. Absolute perfection from only 1 palette.

The only thing about the palette is that they aren’t attached to the base. I would have loved carrying this with me for a go-to touch up. I’m scared to put it in my purse though because I’m scared that the colors are going to break and mix together. Other than that- this is perfect for color from home.

WP_000839WP_000840

The Mascara Tool

WP_000643

I had to read about what this was for, because at first glace I had absolutely NO clue. This is a 3-in-1 mascara guide that prevents smudging, mascara accidents, and you can use it to brush through your lashes after you’ve applied the mascara to remove those nasty clumps.

I hate getting absolutely flawless eyeshadow and then my extra LONG lashes getting mascara on top of the eyeshadow. BLAH. Then I have to wash it off and re-do the entire eye. That sucks. This prevents that from happening.

You place this under your lashes before applying the mascara to make sure there are no mascara mishaps!

The December box is going to be absolutely fabulous and I can’t WAIT to get this one! I love the eyeshadow application on the picture, so pretty Winking smile

Review: Travalo Refillable Perfume Spray

imageimage

Travalo is a cute, sophisticated looking refillable perfume atomizer spray that is pocket size. It’s extremely handy. I hate carrying glass bottles of full sized perfume in my purse. One drop or good knock against something and I could have a wasted bottle of perfume, not to mention having it all over everything in my purse including my phone!

WP_000801WP_000802

Travolo makes it easy to have your favorite fragrance on the go, no matter WHERE you’re going. These are even safe for air travel. NO more confiscated perfume, and then having to buy another bottle when you get where you’re headed.

imageWP_000803WP_000804image

There are no parts to add or assemble. You just take it right OUT of the pack and begin filling it up. As long as you can get the perfume top off of your bottle, you can add any fragrance you want.

You just pop the top off the fragrance and push the bottom to the tip of the fragrance bottle. You pump the fragrance into the Travolo, and then replace the cap on  your perfume. It can be used for perfume, cologne (for men), or body sprays.

WP_000834

I love how I can check how much is left inside the bottle. It has a clear front so that I always know how much is inside the bottle.

I never run out unexpectedly and I never worry about overfilling it.

I love that because I filled this with Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance Glitter Body spray, I can actually see the gold color of the fragrance and the glitter that’s within the spray. OH so pretty Winking smile

When this is filled it holds 65 sprays, has a large spray head so that I don’t have to spray it more than twice to get the desired amount of smell.

This contains absolutely NO glass parts, so there is never a worry if and when this will shatter. It can’t, because it’s designed to always be durable. It can fall on concrete, tile, and hardwood floors and never even crack. 98% of the bottle is recyclable, thanks to the materials that it’s made with, so it’s eco-friendly as well.

image

I love that there are so many different colors. You can buy colors to match your purses or clothing, so you always match. OR you can buy your favorite color, so you always have something with the color you love. These would make amazing stocking stuffers for those you love Winking smile

School of Business- Chicago, Illinois

image
I was in high school when my son was born. He wasn’t supposed to come until AFTER I had already graduated, but he was extremely premature. Premature babies are more at risk for sicknesses, colds, and infections then other children. SO, instead of going to a regular college, I decided to go to an online school.
I figured that it would help me get a college degree while being at home with him. He couldn’t be placed in a daycare, so it seemed like the right option for me at the time. I had almost completed my Associates degree in Business Management and Marketing when they booted me to the curb because I couldn’t complete my finals because I was in labor with my daughter.
When I tried to explain to them what had happened, they didn’t care AT all about WHY it wasn’t completed. They just cared about the fact that it wasn’t completed. AT that time, I wished on EVERYTHING that I would have waited on going to college until I was at a more stable time in my life.
If I had waited to go to college, I could have chosen to go to college in Chicago. I would have had a better chance of success, I would have had a better chance at actually getting the degree.
Now here I am with two kids, no degree, and almost $17,000 in student loans to pay off. I really wish I had waited so that I could have gotten that one-on-one help that I so desperately needed in the harder college math classes.
Online they just send you the textbooks and you learn how to do it yourself. I can’t and never could do that with math. When I came to them asking questions and needing help they told me that I would have to pay a tutor, and at that time I couldn’t afford it.
I just wish I would’ve had the experience of actually learning what I wanted to learn, instead of being stuck with a ton of classes that didn’t mean anything to me. That’s what I got- a bunch of random classes that had nothing to do with my degree. If I had waited and went to a campus school, I could be making the money I wanted to make to support my family.
Where did you go to college? Did you like it? What do you wish you could’ve changed?

Review: Caboodles- Vanity Dreams & Le Sophistique ‘IT’ bag in pink

imageCaboodles have been around for awhile. Those older cases were always on my Christmas wish lists. When I finally got one, I was super excited. I kept everything from makeup, hair ties, to fingernail polish inside of it. Having something to keep my stuff in, away from my little sisters prying fingers was a dream!

image

Caboodles made their debut in 1987, but I didn’t get mine until around 1998. They are hard cases made primarily for your makeup and essentials. Now they offer a variety of sizes and designs both in hard cases and not.

image

I was ecstatic when I got a chance to work with them! I ended up choosing the ‘IT’ bag Le Sophistique & Vanity Dreams Crystal Clear Organizer.

‘IT’ bag Le Sophistique

2012-06-24 18.58.29

World traveler or overnighter, this 10pc bag set will meet all your needs while satisfying your cosmopolitan style! Inside the clear zippered carryall bag you'll find a large upright bag, rectangular brush bag with protector flap, tubular bag, clear half-moon bag, specs case and 4 brushes/applicator tools included!

This has every makeup bag that you could EVER hope or think you’ll need for your makeup and all your essentials. When it arrived in the mail, I was SUPER excited. I couldn’t wait! I dumped all my makeup (A TON) on my bed and began organizing it.

This has six bags that come with it; A clear zippered carryall, large upright bag, tubular bag, rectangular brush bag with protector flap, Specs case, & clear half moon bag. It also comes with it’s own brushes- 4 to be exact.

2012-06-24 19.34.22

Sorry for the blinding hot spot at the top- my camera’s flash caught the mirror on this bag! I was super excited to see a mirror included. Who doesn’t want to carry an extra mirror (without having to THINK about packing it?). This bag is pretty large and can carry all my foundations both liquid and powder, my concealers, and makeup primers.

WP_000757WP_000753WP_000756

I love that I can add my own brushes to this amazing little bag. This can slip inside my purse, or the larger caboodle case. The plaid flip top case is actually another little bag that comes with the Le Sophistique.WP_000754

This is what the brushes come in. I love the plaid colors of these bags! They are so pretty! I like all the brushes that come with the pouch. The largest brush isn’t strong enough to hold mineral or powder foundation, but it’s ok for applying blush.

WP_000796

I love the thinness of the second brush pictured above. I can dab this in eyeshadow and make a perfect thin line. It’s perfect for lining the top of my eyeshadow with a lighter or darker color to bring out my eyes.

The second is a long handled eye shadow application brush. I love that it gives me more control of the eyeshadow. The shorter brushes makes my hand become right in the way, so I have to apply it a little to the left or right if I want to see what I’m doing. With this one, I can apply it and not worry that I’m applying it too darkly or going too far to the right! Just perfect.

The last two brushes are amazing as well. You can use the thin brush for a lipliner or eyeliner brush. I use it as an eyeliner brush. It’s perfectly thin, so it’s great to use with mineral eyeshadow (applying as liner) or cream liners. I love it! The last brush I use RIGHT before and after applying mascara. It helps bring out the fullness of my lashes BEFORE applying the mascara. AFTER I use the mascara, it helps to thin out the mascara so it doesn’t have chunks in it.

2012-06-24 18.58.29

The Le Sophistique caught my eye the most because it’s made of extremely durable material. This means that I’m not going to have to repurchase the same thing for a really long time. It can be easily thrown in a suitcase or duffle bag for a weekend with your hunny or out with your friends.

Now that the holidays are nearing, more people are going to be traveling and there is absolutely NO way I’d travel without my makeup! Especially with all those holiday pictures! No way!

This is perfect for those long or short trips! Helps keep everything organized and within reach! I’ve search around at all the online stores, and the Le Sophistique “IT” bag all seem to be under $20. It’s the PERFECT gift for yourself or for any woman or girl in your life!

Vanity Dreams Crystal Clear Organizer

This is great for your home vanity, dresser, or bathroom counter. It is perfect for storing everything. It has 3 large spots in the very back, which is where I keep my liquid foundation and brushes.

Directly to the right are 4 squares perfect for storing primer, more brushes, mascara, eyeliner, and more. In front of that is a little space with a lift top space (which is where I store my bronzer and concealer).

In the middle are 6 smaller spots, which is where I store my lipsticks and lipgloss. So much space in such a small organizer. I love that everything is on display to where it can be seen. Easy access and the makeup has it’s own décor!

In the very front is where I store my powder foundation because it’s such a large open space. You could also fit eyeshadow or blush palettes inside. Then a little drawer opens up beneath the open space. I store my sponges and a concealer inside for touch ups!

I LOVE the clear look on this! It’s perfect for blending with any décor, no matter which style your home is done in. This is also perfect for taking to the office and sticking on your desk or a shelf beside your desk, so you always have everything you need to look perfect!

Shopping addicts welcome! With more 70 products, Caboodles prices range $5-$40. The company’s devotion to affordability and accessibility for all Caboodle lovers remains at the core of its brand.

3 Fun DIY Engineering Projects

image

Those who are interested in engineering can have a great deal of fun at home without having to worry about having a lot of materials on their side to have fun. There are a variety of different DIY engineering projects that are not only fun, but can be extremely educational and help you to become a better engineer. On top of all of this, some of these projects can be functional to the point of helping to make your daily life even easier. While not all of the following projects are easy (some can be quite tricky and complicated), all of them are worth putting your time into, and the end result can be overwhelmingly rewarding.

Small Robot
Robotics is a discipline that is more popular now than perhaps ever before. Not only are home hobbyists getting involved, but public schools are even beginning to incorporate robotics programs into their curriculum. Robots can range dramatically in size and scope. Some are small enough to fit into the palm of one's hand and barely do anything at all, while others can be life-sized and are capable of extraordinary feats.

Determining which route to take comes down not only to the amount of time and money you're interested in investing in the project, but also to your knowledge and experience in working with robotics. Fortunately, there are plenty of plans that are available for free on the Internet, some of which are easy enough to build even for those who have never worked with robotics in the past.

Box Compass
Anyone who spends a good amount of time in the outdoors needs to do whatever they can in order to prepare themselves. One of the most important tools that such a person can have on-hand at all times is a box compass. Compasses can be very expensive to buy (high-quality ones, at least), although there's no reason why one who is engineering-inclined can't build one themselves.

Building a box compass doesn't have to be expensive, and is one of the easier DIY engineering projects that one can take on. It's the perfect option for those who are trying to take on a project with a family member, as it requires little in the way of experience.

Homemade Antenna
Antennas may not be as commonly used as they were at one point in time, but this is not to say that you can't take building one on as a project. You'll need a variety of materials, such as pliable metals and perhaps a CLC Series load cell. You'll also need to do some research in terms of how to approach building an antenna so that it will be functional for you, in which the details will depend upon what you're trying to do with your antenna. Regardless, it can be a very fun project to take on.

DIY engineering projects can be great for the whole family, and don't have to be costly at all. Consider the above three, each of which can be done at home and for little money.
