Fashion Review & Giveaway: Crocs Women’s A-leigh Leather Boots

Did you know that Crocs has deemed the 28th of September National Comfort day? Tons of parents are put through foot torture throughout the entire work week! Why put your feet through hell and back when you don’t HAVE to?

Crocs has revealed their new exclusive comfort line! This doesn’t just MEAN women—there are NEW men’s and children shoes as well! I was in shoe HEAVEN just looking at all the designs! You can look sexy and be comfortable at the same time, it IS possible you know! I was excited to be able to review the Crocs Women’s A-leigh Leather Boot.

These boots are stunning! They are beautifully made, high quality, and very comfortable! The boots come in 3 different colors; Black, Espresso/Walnut, and Cinnamon/Walnut. I’ve been wanting a high quality pair of black leather wedge boots, so Black it was!

This is definitely a go-to must have boot for every woman’s closet! They are lightweight on my feet which make it easy for me to wear for long periods of time. Most other boots (except flats) hurt my feet if I wear them too long.

I wore a pair of black heeled boots to a funeral I had to attend in June. I wanted to look nice but I was definitely regretting it at about an hour into it. My feet were hurting so bad that my legs were shaking from the pain.

I definitely wish I’d had these then. I can write these all day without a problem. They have half sizes available, which I love! I wear an 8 1/2 and these fit perfectly without being too lose or too tight! Usually it’s very hard to find the perfect size in a boot for me.

Usually I have to get a size up! Size 9 is way too large, which makes me feel like a clown clomping around everywhere. It adds extra weight to my feet, which makes them hurt. So, I’m glad that Crocs has taken us 1/2ies into consideration.

The foot bed on these boots are extra comfortable because of the Croslite™ material footbed. It is an instant ahhh.. moment as soon as you stick your foot inside. They feel padded and instantly mold to my feet.

These boots are perfect for the fall/winter months because of the traction. Most fashion boots don’t have traction on the bottoms, while these do. I’ll never have to worry about slipping on frozen rain or snow. They have rubber outsole pods that not only provide the traction but extra durability as well.

I am loving the wedges on these boots. The wedge definitely gives it a sophisticated, classy look while adding a little height. I also love the fact that they have a relaxed fit and look amazing with jeans, pants, or mini skirts! The inside of the boot has a blue houndstooth textile lining, which is really pretty!

The inside leg part of the boot has a very high quality, strong zipper so you can easily get them on/off without all the tugging. They look good with jeans/pants tucked in OR out, which I also LOVE!

Last and final aspect of the boot is the buckle. I really adore the buckle and how it makes the boots look! It really adds something extra, something special to the boot!

Crocs, Inc. Takes America’s Comfort Pulse and Declares September 28th as International Comfort Day

The millennial generation (Ages 18-32), often described as self-centered and brash, is not as comfortable as one might think.  According to a national Wakefield Research survey of 1,000 adults and sponsored by Crocs, Inc. (NASDAQ: CROX), roughly one-in-three (34-percent) Millennials experiences more than three uncomfortable social situations per week.

Seasoned at powering through, 80-percent of Millennials find it acceptable to lie in order to avoid embarrassment, 46-percent fake cell-phone calls to dodge awkward moments, and when caught in embarrassment, 44-percent of Millennials blame someone else.  On the flipside, the majority (55-percent) of Baby Boomers rarely experience awkward moments, with no uncomfortable situations during an average week.

The survey shows the degree to which discomfort permeates peoples’ lives, underscored by 65-percent of respondents wanting a comfort national holiday.   In a call-to-action, Crocs declares September 28^th as the first International Comfort Day encouraging guests to “Try on a Pair” for a 20-percent discount.  Social media initiatives include the first 50 people to re-tweet a friend at #getcomfy will both receive a pair of free Crocs™ shoes, as well as a tasty comfort recipe shared by Crocs @ Work™ spokesperson, chef Mario Batali. "Comfort isn't just about what's on your feet, but also what's on your plate. Comfort food, in our house, is anything you make together, that brings people together.

Crocs Cares℠ will also be donating 15,000 pairs of Crocs™ shoes to help spread some comfort to individuals–in-need.   International Comfort Day will be celebrated globally at Crocs retail stores in the Americas, EU and Asia. 

For Crocs President and CEO John McCarvel, the poll served multiple purposes. “This is an entertaining yet scientific way for Crocs to associate itself with three of the brand’s biggest selling points: being comfortable, fun, and a little bit different,” says McCarvel. “The poll tells a compelling story. It vividly and statistically defines the genders and generations of adults who feel most comfortable with themselves. That story can initiate lively conversations while serving as a launching-off point for International Comfort Day, which will provide all of us with a breather from the stresses of everyday life.”

These additional findings highlight the Crocs study:

• Gender Gap: The majority of women (72-percent) think it’s acceptable to tell a lie to avoid uncomfortable situations vs. a lower percentage of men (56-percent).
• Sweet 16: While 16 ranks as the average age during which Americans’ awkward-years peak, more than one-quarter of these adults (28 percent) feel that they are still in their awkward stage.
• Gaff Guide: In dealing with embarrassing moments, 33-percent are the “I’m sorry” Apologizers; 22-percent play the Class Clown by making jokes; 21-percent are Over Lookers, pretending it never happened and 6-percent make like Ghosts who quietly leave the room.
• Oops! More than half (55-percent) are more uncomfortable having someone tell them their fly is down vs. telling someone else that theirs is down.  The most embarrassing date snafu guys have experienced is passing gas (38 percent); for women, it’s spilling food on themselves (40-percent).  Only 12-percent of Americans have had their credit cards declined while on a date.
• Relationship Revelations: Among those who feel comfortable in a relationship, 57-percent of men feel comfortable in less than a month vs. 59-percent of ladies who say it take more than a month.  However, 19-percent of Americans never get comfortable.
• Head to toe Comfort: More than half (52-percent) of women frequently sacrifice comfort for fashion when it comes to footwear.  42-percent of working Americans are not completely comfortable with the clothing that they wear to work. The top three comfortable shoes according to women: sneakers other than running shoes (36-percent), flip-flops or sandals (28-percent) and flats (19-percent).
• Work it! 65-percent of working Americans have experienced at least one uncomfortable moment on the job.  Two-in-five (40-percent) endured a coworker over sharing personal information.  Only 13-percent accidentally forwarded personal emails to coworkers.

The Crocs Survey was conducted online by Wakefield Research (www.wakefieldresearch.com) among 1,000 nationally representative U.S. adults,ages 18+, between July 25th and August 1st, 2013. Quotas were set to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the U.S. adult population 18+. The margin of error for the study is 3.1 percentage points.

Who Let The Dog Out? #LetsTalkBums

It’s been awhile since we’ve owned an inside dog. We got a pit bull last year, but he only stayed inside for a little while since he was chewing up everything in site and growing into a humungous giant. Adam ended up getting the kids a long haired Chihuahua on Saturday, and so it’s been quite hectic around here.

We were sick ALL week last week, and I’m just NOW getting better! My kids going nuts over having a new dog, it getting used to us, and all that! The dogs name is Starr, and although a loving dog—it’s a VERY messy one.

I woke up yesterday morning and let the dog out of it’s cage where it slept the night before. I went into the bathroom to wash my face. My mom was coming to pick me up early to go out to my cousins house because my aunt and uncle had come in for my great uncles funeral.

I came out of the bathroom and the dog is NOWHERE in sight. I’m like “Oh, crap—we haven’t even had the dog a full day and it’s already ran away”. Of course, while I’m looking for the dog my daughter wakes up and asks about the dog.. “where’s my dog mommy?”

Of course, I had to tell her that it went for a walk. She goes back inside and looks for the dog and BAM—she steps in DOG POOP. Oh lord, it was the nastiest dog crap I think I’ve smelled in a LONG time! She had it all over her foot, smeared in the floor, and my gracious it was stinking up the house.

So, I had to go in the bathroom and get toilet paper and try and clean it up! It was nasty and mushy and wasn’t cleaning up very well AT all. This is when I thought “Now would be an awesome time to have some Cottonelle Wet Wipes on hand”. I mean HAVE you ever tried to clean up dog turds with dry toilet paper? Not a pretty site at all. It had me gagging and just about puking before I got it all cleaned up and the smell out of the living room.

It just kept smearing and smearing! Wet wipes would have worked so much better! It would have actually cleaned up the poop instead of just moving it and pushing it deeper into the carpet! I finally got it cleaned up, NO thanks to my sinuses for making me dry heave at 8:00 in the morning.. but yeah!

The dog finally came back about 3 hours later, much to my surprise. I’m glad it did because my daughter was sad and whining about it those ENTIRE 3 hours!

We are definitely going to be potty training it this week, going to buy some Cottonelle wet wipes, AND shampoo the carpet. Yay me!

Tips for Taking Care of Your Skin

Practicing a good skin care routine does not necessarily require hundreds of dollars on specialty exfoliants, masks and creams. There are a number of tips that can be implemented into your daily routine to better your skin and keep it looking clearer and healthier. See which beneficial practices you already have in place, and which you could do to include in your own skin care routine with these guidelines!

Keep Hands and Face Clean

Throughout the day, it is incredibly important to try and resist touching your face; and difficult to remember, as we do it so often without thinking. If you have a nervous habit of touching your mouth, chin, nose, or scratching your face when speaking with others, try and train your body to replace that tic with another one, like drumming on your leg, putting your hands on your hips, or crossing just one arm over your torso and holding your bicep, as crossing both arms gives off a negative vibe. Keep your hands clean by always washing after using the bathroom or public transportation. To ensure your efforts aren’t for nothing, take the time to wait for the water to heat up, and lather up for a good 30 seconds before rinsing.

Moisturize Daily

Even individuals with oily skin need to replenish some of that moisture after showering or washing their face. Select a moisturizer that adheres to the needs of your skin type: heavy for dry skin, normal or light for regular skin, and oil-free and light for those with oily complexions. Lines like Cetaphil and Mary Kay are just two of many simple creams which soften without clogging pores and won’t dry up throughout the day.

Reduce Lines and Sagging

There are many opinions on the right age to begin preventative care to address those unwanted wrinkles,, but as everyone’s skin is unique, you should start whenever you feel comfortable that it is the right time for you, personally. Identify your trouble spots, like under eyes or forehead, and select a lotion or serum which focuses specifically on that area of the face. You’ll also want to tailor your pick to what works to enhance your complexion. Look into brands like Isomers found here for technologically-advanced solutions, or try Best Wrinkle Cream’s sets if you aren’t yet sure which serum will work best for you.

Avoid Harmful Rays

Avoiding sun exposure is paramount when maintaining healthy skin, and unfortunately lathering up with sunblock before going tanning doesn’t always cut it. Regardless of whether the sun is out and shining, your skin will be affected by its rays if you’re out for more than just a few minutes. If you find yourself outdoors frequently, you may want to implement lotions and lip balms whose formulas include SPF to ensure that you’re always covered: the cheapest way is with Chapstick, who has a flavor with SPF 30. Get Smart about Makeup

If you’re using any facial makeup which continually dries out your skin or clogs your pores, you should switch to another brand. If you find zits popping up around your upper lip, try swapping out the lipstick for a lip stain or gloss. If you break out around your cheeks and under eyes, go easy on the foundation, concealer, and blush, and toner; oftentimes liquid serums can be more damaging and heavy than powders, like Becca’s mineral powder foundation. Carry around oil blotting papers to remove shine and excess sebum throughout the day, and always fully remove your makeup at night, giving your skin time to breathe and heal.

Establish Good Habits

Maintaining clear skin is about more than what you put on and take off of your face – although washing your face daily with a gentle cleanser is a good start. You should have two sets of pillow cases at home to get into the routine of changing and washing them every couple of weeks. Sleeping on an unwashed pillow case exposes your skin to bacteria and dead skin cells which can undo all of your hard work while catching up on some Z’s. On that note, getting enough sleep every night is also very important to your skin’s health, with 7 to 8 hours considered to be ideal. Finally, when awake, keeping hydrated by drinking water throughout the day will help your skin to become more smooth, supple and clear. Try sneaking in a glass from the water cooler in between cups of coffee, or else switching from sodas to water for the long haul.

I was excited to be able to work with Michael Todd True Organics because all of their products are Made in the U.S. with certified organic ingredients, without added water and free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance or artificial dyes. I was asked to review Knu Anti-Aging Face Lift Serum is a skin repair treatment that also helps with the treatment of acne, Rosacea, and scarring. The serum is 70% organic and is gluten free.

The Knu Anti-Aging Serum is a concentrated silky liquid that helps us to defy the signs of aging. The ingredient list is downright impressive. Anti-aging done naturally and done right! The ingredient list includes: anti-oxidant rich cranberries, aloe vera, seaweed, green tea, and more.

It is said that is helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of premature skin aging while also providing anti-oxidant protection against future damage. The ingredients in this serum have everything to prove that what they say is absolutely correct!

Serums have always been a must in my daily skincare routine, but since my last serum ran out- I hadn’t bought any more. Serums definitely boost the effectiveness of my other skin care products because of the extra vitamins that it adds to the skin.

The directions on this Knu Serum says to apply 2-4 drops on a daily basis. I’ve been adding this to both my day and night regimen (2 drops during each). Naturally I have more steps at night with the added eye cream and night cream, so I make sure that this stays the 4th step.

Usually I switch it up, some days I’ll use a face mask and others I’ll use a scrub. Then I use my daily cleaner, toner, and now this serum. During the day I’ll then add my moisturizer, makeup primer, and then makeup. At night, after the serum I use my eye cream and then night mask. I add 2-3 minutes in between each step to let it have adequate time to fully soak in before the next step.

This serum has a very naturally light scent, which is pleasant and I appreciate. Other serums you can definitely smell the added chemical fragrances which mix very badly with the chemicals that are already used in the ingredients. The Knu Serum definitely brings out the cranberry and green tea mixture smell, which is sweet and smells delicious.

The texture is something that is unique to this serum. I have never before experienced a serum like this one! #UniqueandAmazing! Most other serums feel so sticky, oily, and leave behind a greasy residue. As someone with naturally oily skin, that causes a problem for me! It can actually cause my skin to breakout and get blackheads.

The Knu serum totally took me by surprise, it wasn’t oily AT all! This was something that REALLY makes it amazing for us Oily skin/ Acne prone women who NEED an anti-aging serum. The texture of my skin was becoming a hassle to deal with. If I wasn’t breaking out, I’d get horrible blackheads.

My skin before was beginning to look dull and washed out. I really wanted to bring back the brightness that I had before. I didn’t want to have to wear makeup on a daily basis JUST to cover up the washed out look.

My skin has done a complete 180* since using this serum, my complexion is 10x more radiant. My complexion now looks healthy, fresh, and bright! All the discoloration from the old breakouts are completely gone!

No sign of Acne, blackheads, redness, or even irritation! I’m pretty sure I’m in love! This works 10x better than any acne gel, cream, or wash I’ve used all year! To make it even BETTER, it even heals old acne scars and clears complexion issues.

As a Southerner, true to my roots I’ve never actually used a bidet before. Of course, there have been times in my life that I wish there were one handy. Especially on one specific field trip where there were basically outhouses and not much toilet paper to go around. Bidet, please?

Although I could just imagine my middle school self hunkering down over a bidet and automatically start busting out laughing. I mean—THERE are just so many open options for embarrassment here. When people finally decide that it is time to do something about the rat’s nest of cables that accumulates in many homes and businesses, they do not have to spend a lot of money or time in order to get everything under control. Whether they are looking to stow their power cord tangle-free in a cabinet or hide that ugly wire spaghetti that they keep kicking under their desk, there are several aesthetically pleasing ideas that people can use for a more organized home.

Use a Wire Basket
Get all those audio, firewire, monitor and USB cords off the floor and under the desk by utilizing a simple basket. This helps users group common cords together while starting to zip tying them at the same time.
When doing this, people should remember to leave a small amount of wiggle room for their cords in case they need to move a few of their components around. Additionally, people who have a component that they need to unplug probably do not want to confine it along with the rest of their cords.

Use Cable Drawings
Another great way to organized cords is by using cable drawings. These help people re-imagine their power wirings as a decorative detail in their home. At the same time, it provides a technical style for how power cables should be arranged while providing users with eye-catching design. With this, people are able to decorate their former eyesore rather than trying to hide it away.

WirePod is another great way to bring elegance to every power strip found in a home.
