Review: Therapearl Cold/Hot Therapy Packs

 

I am pretty sure I have fallen in love! This Therapearl Eye essential Hot or Cold Pack has been my life line over the last month. As a mom, I don’t get very many way to relax- now all I have to do is take this out of the freezer or microwave and it’s instant relaxation!

Even after an adequate nights sleep *which I rarely get* I still wake up with bloodshot, red, puffy eyes. Not only does it make me look tired, unrested, and stressed out, but it makes me feel like it as well.

Therapearl also sent 2 Therapearl buddies for my kids and Oh MY GOD was I ever so grateful for it. I was running bathwater for myself and went to the bedroom to get some lotion. Adisyn was asleep and Aidan was laying down watching cartoons. It was almost bedtime for him as well because he had school the next morning.

I figured he would drift off while I was in the bathtub. I guess while I was gathering my bath products and pajamas, Aidan ran into the bathroom and jumped in the water.

Somehow he ended up slipping and smacking his face right on the toilet lid. His eye immediately started swelling. He is clumsy by nature- and nothing had EVER worked for him (having a black eye) before.

Everything was too cold for him (even when it was wrapped in a washcloth). He would never put it on his bruises to keep them from swelling. As soon as he had the accident with the toilet- I immediately reached in the freezer and grabbed a therapearl buddy and put it on his eye.

It didn’t keep it from blackening, but it did keep it from getting absolutely horrid. It kept the swelling down and he didn’t whine or cry that it was too cold for his face (and I only wrapped it in a thin napkin) when I covered his eye.

When I took him into school the next morning to explain his black eye, I was forever thankful that it wasn’t huge and swollen. It was black but not a giant knot like it would have been. These are also great to calm the itchiness of poison ivy and oak, scrapes, bumps, and cuts.

Tahitian Orchid Gift Set

Crafting with an InkJet Label Printer

As a crafter, in todays world- it is SO easy to create so many different things. The numbers are limitless. I sew, crochet, and want to get into making my own candles, body products, and cleaning products.
When I sew and crochet, I get lost in the making of the item. It’s so easy for me to sit down- grab the yarn and crochet sticks or go to my sewing machine and fabric and just make whatever is in my heart’s desire.
This not only lets me relax and enjoy creating something out of nothing. When I’m done, I get the pleasure of seeing something that I created with my hands.

Now that I have an inkjet label printer, I can create my own customized labels for my handmade items. It will not only make them look more professional, but they would be so much eye catching!
Using an inkjet label printer was so easy and had such a great outcome. The ink never ran or blurred together. I can insert iron-on sheets into the printer, print out my design, and then iron it on.
Not only does it look much thicker, but if I make a tote or a blanket- the person who buys it can wash it without the label coming off!

The last thing I was able to make (which made me SUPER SUPER happy) was my first crocheted blanket. I have made tons of different purses, bags for ereaders and tablets, scarves, and bookmarks- but finishing a giant project was absolutely exciting.

It was even more fabulous when I got to make the label and attach it! Nothing like seeing a beautiful handmade piece with your name on it. ;) I want to start an etsy shop with all the stuff I make, but haven't. I've been a chicken and just been saving the stuff I make. I have no clue why- but when my designs are in the hands of another person, it suddenly seems to have flaws it didn't have before.

I start thinking to myself ways I could have made it better, why it shouldn't look like that, and so on. When in real perspective- it probably doesn't have anything wrong with it. It's just my mind working overtime. ;(

I was selected to participate in the UNREAL candy campaign through Bzzagent They sent me several coupons to try it for myself and to share with friends and family.
I headed to CVS (which is in Bowling Green) but I had to go and pick something up from Walmart anyway. When I got to CVS, I started looking around to compare the look and prices of the candy with other candy.
UNREAL is real, but it is very low in price compared to other candy. I was actually saving money by buying candy  that is free from all the Junk that is in regular candy.  This has shown that making a little change doesn’t have to hurt your wallet.
 
UNREAL Peanut Butter Cups
The UNREAL candy had such a better quality of peanut butter than the popular Reese’s Cups. The peanut butter in the UNREAL candy had a better consistency and wasn’t as salty.

Milky Way? Yes please! This tasted just like a Milky Way but even better. The caramel in this isn’t as thin and messy! It’s really really yummy.

Having 2 kids and a ton of bills has left me in some very hard situations at times. We’ve had to move unexpectedly and need the extra money to do it with. I didn’t have the money for the down payment and first months rent, as well as deposit for the lights and water.

Review: KYI #Natural Skincare Products

I am always on the lookout for natural skincare products that not only work amazingly but are great for my skin. KYI is just that. Not only are they completely natural, but they work tremendously.

KYI which is short for KNOW YOUR INGREDIENTS clearly list all of their ingredients. Which isn’t very many at all. The ingredients are all completely natural; Shea Butter, Argan) Kernel Oil, (Sweet Almond) Oil, (Jojoba) Seed Oil, & Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate.

 

Whipped Shea Butter Mask

What: Lavender and Chamomile- Refined Shea Butter (butryrospermum parkii butter), jojoba oil, essential oil of chamomile and lavender.

Refined Shea Butter (butryrospermum parkii butter), jojoba oil, essential oil of litsea cubeba.

Why: 1. To moisturize skin, reduce lines and wrinkles, soften and condition. 2. To soothe, heal and protect dry, chapped, irritated skin. 3. To condition dry, coarse hair and add shine. How: 1. For dry/aging skin, on just washed face, gently rub on as nightly mask. 2. Rub liberally on hands, feet, elbows or anywhere skin needs. 3. Massage into hair as leave-in conditioner, shampoo and condition as usual.

KYI’s Whipped Shea Butter Mask is recommended as a night face mask for those with older, drier and aging skin.  However, it is multi-functional and can be used anywhere on the body and is excellent to treat dry, red and irritated skin on children.

My Thoughts*

I have been using this for about 2 weeks now. I have used this an a night mask, skin conditioner, and hair conditioner. I love that this product that can be used in so many different ways.

I was sent 2 tins of these. A larger one (Lavender and Chamomile) and a smaller one (Litsea Cubeba). I use the larger one for my body and hair and the smaller one for my hair!

As a night mask- I use after I get out of the shower and have washed my face for the night. I dip my fingers in the metal tin and scoop a small amount out. I then rub it between my palms and apply to my face. As soon as I apply it, it’s instant moisture and nutrition for my face. I love this!

Through this entire two weeks, I can tell that my face has become VERY hydrated, which I love. My skin is so soft and luscious feeling! I can apply my makeup the next morning so effortlessly because my skin is so soft. My makeup just seems to glide on without a hitch!

 

As a Hair Conditioner: I have 3 uses as a hair conditioner. I use this BEFORE shampooing with another leave in treatment. I let it sit for about an hour and then wash it out. I use it after shampooing it and adding conditioner. Sometimes I add a dab when it’s wet, sometimes I let it dampen or dry.

My hair is glossy and polished. All the split ends blend in together so they aren’t noticeable. Over the past two weeks I’ve noticed that it doesn’t only help the top layer of my hair, but it has also helped m scalp gain the vitality that it desperately needed.

This also helps keep down the harmful effects that blow-drying, straightening, and curling can do to your hair. It protects the hair shaft to hold in the much needed moisture, while you can quickly style your hair and be on your way out the door.

This is awesome as a defrizzer. I can take this with me and when I see hairs starting to pop up on my head, all I have to do is whip out my very perfect stainless steel tin and apply a VERY small amount and the frizz is gone, my hair is sleek and sooth, and I am a very happy camper with perfect hair.

As a Skin Conditioner: In the colder months, my Keratosis Pilaris gets very very horrible. It’s due to the drier skin. Tiny little bumps tend to pop up everywhere. They aren’t as bad in the warmer months because I can air my legs out.

In the cooler months- where pants are a must; I can’t let them air out as much which causes the bumps to get worse. I can rub this not only on my thighs where the bumps are- but use it on my knees, elbows, and feet to keep my skin ,moisturized, silky soft, and free of Keratosis Pilaris bumps!

I have a microdermabrasion kit, and this is perfect to put on after I’ve done my weekly treatment. I even use this nightly so that they stay away and don’t come back.

 

KYI’s Sweet Almond Softening Oil

KYI’s Sweet Almond Softening Oil is recommended as an after shower moisturizer, either wet or dry.  However, it can be used on skin anytime it needs some softening up!

This is definitely something I needed. I add a tiny mixture of this and the whipped shea butter mask to my skin. The whipped shea butter and this is AMAZING!

My skin hasn’t been dry at all since I’ve began using this. I can use this throughout the day, or before I go to sleep. Before or After the shower. No matter when I use it, it still has such a moistening effect that I’m not sure how I ever lived without this!

Not only can this be used as a “skin oil” but I’ve heated some of it, and it also makes the perfect massage oil. It is so slick and glides on so perfectly. Then I can let it dry on my skin and get dressed. It is so relaxing and so beneficial to my skin!

Not only is it useful, but it’s invigorating. Now I can’t go to sleep unless I’ve used this. It comes in a handy pump bottle, so all I have to do is grab half a squirt if I’m just needing to hydrate my legs for the day. Or I can do a whole squirt for my body. OR more if I want to heat some up and give myself a quick massage (or make Adam do it lol ).

About the Ingredients:

Shea Butter provides many benefits to the skin: it combats aging by reducing lines, wrinkles and increasing skin elasticity, it relieves red, sore skin including eczema and psoriasis, it minimizes stretch marks and scars, including those left from acne, it conditions and softens hair.  Shea butter can be used on any part of the body, including lips, face, hair, elbows and feet!

Argan Oil has numerous skin, hair, nail and therapeutic benefits.  It is quickly absorbed into the skin and is particularly effective against the effects of aging, including cell degeneration.  It also combats dryness, and reduces inflammation, acne and scars.  It can also be used in hair to smooth frizzies and split ends and add shine.

Sweet Almond Oil is a very emollient moisturizer and lubricant which prevents skin from becoming dry, itchy and flaky. It is easily absorbed and helps aging skin because it eliminates impurities and removes dead skin cells while refining the skin's structure and stimulating cell renewal.  Sweet almond oil is also a very good anti-inflammatory as it helps ease the itching and irritation caused by psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and sunburn

I love both of these products. The products that do have a smell come from real essential oils, not chemical induced fragrances. When my daughter got a little red on her butt, I could use the whipped shea butter on it as well. Because it’s safe and chemical free it makes a nice butt cream. It’s thick and creamy consistency is perfect!

My Thoughts*

I love how the nipple is soft and flexible, some of the other sippy cups on the market have a hard plastic top that is hard for little mouths to drink out of. This has a very easy to grasp handle, which makes it easy for little hands to grip and tip.

I usually do not let my kids bring their sippy cup into the car because of leaks and spills. Usually while we are waiting for Aidan in the pickup line, Adisyn will get thirsty and I’ll have to reach around and give her a drink of my water.

With the ThinkBaby sippy, I don’t have to worry about leaks or spills. The handles are removable, which makes it easy to break apart and clean every single part of the cup.

I love that this is dishwasher safe as well. I can just put this in with a top load and it comes clean without any specks or grime stuck inside if I don’t feel like washing it by hand.

My Thoughts*

All thinksport bottles are super insulated to keep the contents cold or hot for hours. I love that whether I’m jogging, waiting for my son in the pickup line, or having a picnic with the kids- I can always count on the Thinksport bottle to keep my beverage hot or cold!

I can fill the bottle with ice and water, kool aide, or soda and know that if I put this in my purse that it isn’t going to sweat all over my stuff and get it wet. It doesn’t sweat at ALL!

I also love that I can tip it sideways and lay it down inside a lunchbox or lunchpail and it never EVER leaks out! It also contains a wide mouth easy for me to drink out of, or pour my drink into. I never have to worry that the drink is going to come flowing out and spill all down my shirt.

They have also stuck in a little mesh filter thing that keeps the ice from blocking the drink hole. Every other water bottle that I have ever tried—it’s hard to EVEN stick ice inside because of the small mouth spout. With this it not only opens up to where I can add as much or as little ice as I want AND a mesh filter that lets me drink without getting the hole stopped up with ice.

I love the black design with the yellow ring around the top. Everytime I see a design like that I always think about the old cancer survivor bracelets. I love that it also comes in other colors. I am definitely buying the yellow one, and then giving the black one to Adam. !

Review: Galison Planners

Have you been on the lookout for some amazing planners? Well I’ve located some VERY awesome ones. Not only do they help keep me organized, but they look amazing while doing so.

I ended up choosing two types of planners. The first one is a small pocket planner, while the second one is a weekly organizer. I SOOO love both of these!\

Weekly Organizer

I didn’t get this particular design. I got a black one with small geometric designs on it. They don’t have any more left of the one I chose, but I wanted to show you this one.

When you open it up, it has the weekly planner directly in the middle. On the left side, it has a post it note (regular size) to write notes or to-do lists to yourself such as what to get at the grocery or what cleaning supplies to pick up. It then has 2 very small size post it notes above that. This is to stick on whatever you need so that you don’t forget that it’s very important.

Then there is a mid-sized smaller post it note. I use this to write down important dates or reviews that need to be done. It could also be used to write down play dates or work dates that you can easily see. Then there is the pocket. I love the pocket! I use the pocket for coupons! It has a tie around fastener, so that I know my coupons aren’t going to fall out and spread everywhere in my purse or go flying down the aisles at the grocery store.

This is bigger then a pocket planner, but still small enough that it can fit inside my purse. I LOVE having so many note taking places and places to write very important stuff down that way I will NOT forget. Such as making appointments for the kids or myself.

I am SO in love with this weekly planner. It magnetizes together and keeps me very organized.

William Morris Morning Garden Pocket Planner

My Thoughts*

I am loving this small little pocket planner. I can stash it inside my purse and write down a short to do list while I am waiting to pick up my son. This way I don’t forget something that is absolutely necessary, while I am thinking about it.

It has each week on one side- so two weeks on 2 sheets of paper (side by side). This planner isn’t meant for long drawn out to-do list tags. I use this one to tell me what I need to work on with my son pertaining to school work. He has been having trouble learning this year.

I think it has more to do with his teacher jumping around and not letting them learn one thing before she is on to the next one. During one week, I’ll get his “school work” and he will be learning E, P, D, H, and M instead of learning A-E or whatever.

I really dislike the way she is teaching the kids. They are small, they are in kindergarten, and they aren’t geniuses. My son was behind anyway because he was so premature. Everybody in his class are 3-5 months ahead of him and it shows.

That is why I love that I have this planner to help me detail what we should work on each night when he gets home. If she isn’t taking the time to help him learn, I sure will.
